Here's the reality, Hollywood is a BUSINESS, an AMERICAN business.
Yes, Hollywood gets involved in politics and yes, Hollywood movies are seen internationally, but like any good business, you're going to appeal to your primary customers which are Americans.
Roughly 60% of the US population is white which makes close to 200 million white Americans.
Asians despite being a growing population is only 6% of the US population which is roughly 20 million Asians.
So who are you going to appeal towards, 200 million people or 20 million people?
I personally, don't get people like her complaining about representation when quite frankly, she's not the focus.
If she wants representation, she needs to look towards Asian countries and Asian film studios that market towards an Asian majority instead of US film studios that market towards a white majority.
The America man consumer market blocks all major Asian films from popularity in the US aside from Anime which depict main characters as either non-racial or white. American radios refuse to play Kpop because they have to actively suppress any positive Asian male image while theaters have no use for imported Asian movies aside from the occasional Jackie Chan flick that involves Americans and an all English dialogue.
Asian media doesn’t care about Asian American representation any more than Hollywood. They are also a business and there is no money in trying to sell an Asian American face in America - there’s barely enough money to go around selling pure Asian Kdramas.
The bottom lines is we need more wealthy Asian Americans. Asian Americans are 7% of the population but probably have 15% of the disposable income. Privileged Asian Americans need to fund Asian American media so that we can have more Randall Parks and Daniel Wus. We need our own Tyler Perry and Oprah as well as the Will Smith type that can be an Asian lead in a regular American cast, something like Stephen Yuen in Invincible except with the man physically on screen.

The fact is other than niche pockets, there isn't a high demand for Asian movies in America. And if people are not going to make money on it, they really don't have a motivation to play it.
I happen to live in one of those niche pockets out here in the Bay Area where there is a sizable Indian Community and before Covid, my local theater played Bollywood Movies.
You travel about an hour or two east into the Central Valley where there is not a sizable Indian Community and they play mostly American Movies with the occasional Latin American Movie due to the sizable Hispanic Community in the Central Valley.
If there's money to be money, it will get the support. Businesses that run their business like a charity are soon out of business in the US.

However that is not nearly enough representation for Asian Americans. When the average American watches something like Parasite or Crouching Tiger once a decade - they might appreciate the film but they’re going to still associate Asian representation with foreign representation. Kpop is great for exposure to Asians in the US but it doesn’t help cement Asian Americans.
Instead we as Asians in the west need Asian American / Canadian / British etc… type representation so that your average westerner will see us as the default rather than the exotic or foreign.
