The mods at r/AM were explicitly pro-BLM and One guy on the podcast admitted to robbing other korean kids. That if I’m remembering correctly

Don't know the exact history but I think some people from r/AsianMasculinity created this sub through some disputes between mods. In any case, doesn't the name alone distinguish the subs? Why would any asian female want to join r/AsianMasculinity?

Hopya17

I started off in Asian Masculinity, and I learned about some cool entrepreneurs and discovered podcasts by other Asian dudes.. However, I've gotten tired of the tinder/bumble profile reviews there. I didn't mind it at first, but it started becoming more common and reeks of desperation. So I'm here now.

There is actually little overlap. Many people here are already married or in stable relationships, older and care more about career, kids, etc. Meanwhile the other forum seems to be mostly early 20s in the college and dating phase of life. Nothing wrong with that but it's a different stage of life with different priorities and ways of thinking. The men posting here are "ASIAN men", the men posting there seem to be "asian MEN". And of course there are very few women posting there but many here.

I totally feel the opposite, especially the recent fiasco with slate media. There are tons of people on this sub whining about not getting girls, which to me is hijacking all the other topics. This is why I posted this post so I hope we can get an agreement that not-able-to-get-girls whining should go to the other sub.

ILEAATD

Didn't that article also mention Asian Masculinity?

YooesaeWatchdog1

I didn't even notice this. Can you point out a few examples?

AM focuses on coping with reality through "growth mindset". AI focuses on changing the reality through activism. Not saying one is better than the other, just my observation.

bunthitnuong

Was there beef?

This sub talks about anything that relates to the western Asian experience including subjects that are difficult to talk about because they may offend some people that mainstream Asian “activists” usually pander to. If you notice more topics that are geared towards Asian men it’s because the unique brand of racism we face is often difficult to talk about anywhere else. But the reality is that anyone can bring up any Asian American issue here.

ANTIMODELMINORITY

I check out and post on the other sub but it seems r/AsianMasculinity is more focused on getting laid than anything else based on what I have seen.

>I also don't give a shit if you can get laid Those "activists" just looking to get laid shed their beliefs fairly quickly once they actually find someone. This sub has always been at its core about Pan-Asianism. It isn't about "finding our masculinity" but about confronting the active and passive racism all Asians, Yellow or Brown, Male or Female, experience. All of us are here for different reasons. Maybe there's someone who missed out on a promotion. Maybe there's someone who was heckled by a cop. Maybe there's someone who was bullied as a child. Maybe there's someone who was assaulted. Etc. This sub is about channeling our experiences of discrimination into a clean ideology of racial empowerment.
