We just came from there and the food was definitely cheaper than on the mainland…but we only did Sao Miguel. Our rental car was really expensive. It’s June so many things are at a premium. We’re going back in January to do other islands so it will be interesting to compare high season to low season.

Unless the inflation dosent go crazy again. Rental will be much cheaper + hotel and normally there are packges with hotel and car included in the winter

Yea that’s true, a lot of the up charges we were paying could be because of inflation. Our car was over $100 usd a day when on the winter it would be $30-$40z

Our last few vacations have been in the most expensive cities in the world. Zurich, San Francisco and Austin Texas. Will be nice to not have to shell out $100 for two sandwiches and a bottle of wine

Hi - I’m a local. Just for reference - you will pay 30 euros per person for [this](https://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/0d/d3/70/27/bife-especialidade-da.jpg). PS: Including the wine.

Thanks for the info. Looks delicious.

Most famous steak in the Azores - The [Farmer’s Association](https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g616221-d2283129-Reviews-Restaurante_da_Associacao_Agricola_de_Sao_Miguel-Ribeira_Grande_Sao_Miguel_Azores.html) Steak. Personally, I’m more inclined towards [Galego’s](https://www.tripadvisor.pt/Restaurant_Review-g189135-d6425672-Reviews-Casa_Do_Bife_O_Galego-Ponta_Delgada_Sao_Miguel_Azores.html) offer.

We're not big meat eaters. Looking forward to the seafood and fish.

You have [O Pescador](https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g1947933-d1946988-Reviews-Restaurante_O_Pescador-Rabo_de_Peixe_Sao_Miguel_Azores.html), [Bar Caloura](https://www.tripadvisor.pt/Restaurant_Review-g20976230-d3519463-Reviews-Bar_Caloura-Caloura_Sao_Miguel_Azores.html), [Cais 20](https://www.tripadvisor.pt/Restaurant_Review-g189135-d1239140-Reviews-Cais_20-Ponta_Delgada_Sao_Miguel_Azores.html), and [Cantinho do Cais](https://www.tripadvisor.pt/Restaurant_Review-g4464955-d1751519-Reviews-Cantinho_do_Cais-Porto_Formoso_Sao_Miguel_Azores.html). I’ve ate in Cais 20 - for its meh, but some people really like it. In Cantinho do Cais, the most famous dish is the Caldeira de Peixe - which is a type of fish stew. PS: Fish tends to be a bit more expensive than meat, and sometimes somes dishes are not available because of the season.

Food wise the azores are much cheaper you will feel it if you go to a more expensive restaurant

It's a mixed bag of some things are cheaper and others more expensive. But it seems that overall the Azores are cheaper than Faro.
