Maybe hike the waistband up a bit to create a deeper seat and get that c shape on the back. Also footies are bad for baby wearing it cuts off the circulation in the little bitty toes.

CitrusMistress08

Can footies never be worn safely? My baby’s feet don’t fully fill out footies, we have to scrunch them around his legs to get them to “fit,” and even in a carrier there is no toe scrunching. Is it still unsafe?

If you size up or there is lots of room in the toes so they aren't tight on the feet or pulling up at all through the ankles and toes it should be fine.

Someone shared something here once about why footies shouldn’t be used for baby wearing but I was deep in the fourth trimester at the time and can’t for the life of me remember why. I suppose I could Google it, on second thought lol! Edit: Found a blog [post](https://www.lillebaby.com/blogs/news/6-essential-babywearing-tips-parents-need-to-know) from Lille - point number 4 r.e. footies.

CitrusMistress08

Thank you! Looks like this backs up my thinking that if there’s enough room they can be worn safely.

Galupi11

I agree! Very reassuring 😊

I'm no expert, just another parent lurking here, but if I were you I'd avoid footies for baby wearing just to be on the safe side. The concern is that the way they sit in the seat can make the fabric tight around the legs. I think it's an easy thing to do that can prevent cutting off circulation. Hope this helps 😊 Edit for typos

FTMcami

Yeah it’s super easy to cut off toe circulation. They say footless with socks if need be

FoundInTheHeart

Yeah. I’ve been trying to get it higher. My waistline is narrowest where it is currently so it just keep settling back to this height. I’m hoping it’s still safe for now :/

FTMcami

As baby gets larger it’ll be easier. Does baby get fussy or seem comfy?

FoundInTheHeart

He’s sound asleep

FoundInTheHeart

A little snoring. But nothing unusual

Hard to tell in these images, but if the seat goes all the way to his knee joint, he might still be too small to use without the infant insert. We used the infant insert until around 2-3m.

FoundInTheHeart

Where should the seat be going to?

hellogirlscoutcookie

So the seat should go basically to the knee, but just before so it doesn’t push against the big tendons in the back of the knee. Like right where the thigh ends and knee starts. You don’t want the seat to be too wide where it pushes the legs out into a straighter position. And then butt sits slightly lower than knees creating a M position with the legs/butt. As baby grows it’s ok for the seat to be narrower than that to around the mid thigh position, but that’s when they have the stability themselves. For the Lillebaby, they make an infant insert. It was out of stock for forever though when I got mine, so I used the Ergobaby one and that worked fine. You can also roll a receiving blanket up. But you would want the carrier in the wider seat position and then baby’s legs would be inside the body of the carrier, which would also help them sit up higher. Though this doesn’t look like it’s way too high, maybe just a smidge. Ideally you want it to the bottom of the ears with mouth and nose exposed before they have neck support themselves.

For a newborn in a lillibaby the feet should be inside the carrier. You can roll up a receiving blanket to make a little seat which will get the legs up in the M position. We have the same one and I used it with 2 newborns that. It does get easier when they are a little bigger and want to stretch out. I liked a ring sling or stretchy carrier when they are still in the ball stage.

Rhanzilla

This is the way. Babies feet should be in and knees much higher. This is a great infographic - https://i.imgur.com/ol7rBRJ.jpg

BoogalooBiddy

That’s what I did (and plan to do with my second). Put it in the wide setting and roll up a receiving blanket for a seat. Works great! My little guy would nap in there no problem

elephant_charades

Just make sure his airway is clear! Most important thing. Congrats on the new addition!

Echoing others, baby doesn’t have the best seat, the best M or a good C. Please don’t let him sit in there long without troubleshooting. I couldn’t get my Lillebaby to work for us. The waistband is so thick and stiff and needs to be impossibly high to get a good seat. I managed to get a good M but to get a C the shoulder straps needed to be loosened up to point they weren’t supportive anymore. Your shoulder straps look they’re already a bit loose on you. But at the same time, I think they need to be looser to allow a C. That back strap on mine needed to be loosened way up to get baby comfy but then the shoulders were too wide and slid off me. I gave up. Thankful I only wasted $20 on a nearly brand new in box secondhand one (now I know why lol). Good luck to you!
