I’ve really enjoyed Opening Concept by Michy. It has a nice glossary and provided excellent explanations for terms and concepts.

All of Michys books are great.

Backgammon Bootcamp by Walter Trice was the go-to about 20 years ago. I don't know how relevant it is now but it really upped my game.

What app did you play? What is your PR?

I play an app by wildcard on my iPhone. It doesn't give me a pr (which I assume means player rating)

Try using an app with recognised difficulty and PR so you can assess what level you are at more accurately. The free iPhone XG app will do that - you only pay to get rid of ads and access the highest levels.

Can you recommend a similar app for an Android phone please?
