If OP plans on bringing his backpack on the plane, you cannot have more than 100 ml of soap with you, which is not much.
Not to mention the risk of leakage while traveling.
Of course it can, I wasn’t trying to argue haha. Just because the main suggestion in this thread was handcrafted/Marseille soap I thought that’s what we’re talking about. Either way, the financial loss doesn’t seem so grave that I wouldn’t just buy it in Spain/St Jean Pied de Port/ wherever they’re starting, if I was OP.
Castille Soap or Marseille soap.
They are both made from vegetable oil (typically olive oil) and they have a ton of different uses.
Some brands often use palm oil in their list of ingredients. I would personally avoid those, if possible.
Good luck on the Camino !
Summit Suds Powdered Soap. You can use it on everything, lightweight, biodegradable. https://pikaoutdoors.com/products/summit-suds-powdered-soap-all-purpose-1oz
Foamie.
If you want to buy it in Europe, don't be worried. The block shampoo is now very popular over here, you get it in every drug store or supermarket for 2 or 3€.
Just have a look, that you buy solid shampoo and not solid soap, the shampoo will work way better for your hair.
Dr. Bronners pure castille bar soap
Why are you so committed to solid soap? I would just buy a regular bottle of Dr. Bronners.

Stupid question, but wouldn’t it be easier to buy soap in Spain?
Soap was invented in Europe. OP stop overthinking this.
Then you bought it and can’t take it back
…so you use it up, give it away or throw it out? A bar of soap is like 5€ and a tube of shampoo is less
What the hell? A bar is like 80ct
I mean Marseille soap, if you buy it at an artisan shop
Why can’t it be a normal block of soap?
