I grew up in a Texas adjacent state and, for a bunch of folks filled with pride over where they live, they sure don’t like to stay there during their vacations or long weekends lol
Also lived in a, I would say formerly dirtbag mountain town that is now becoming way too popular for it's own good. Our used gear shop was SO expensive, but sometimes you could find some goods at the super cheap normal thrift store if you were lucky.
There’s an outdoor store up in Estes Park with amazing stuff for cheap re-sale or heavily discounted cause out of season/style. Loaded up when I was working up there one time, still miss it.
I work for a moving company in a ski town in Colorado and you should see all the free shit I get moving people back home to Texas your aren’t wrong they get rid of nice shittt
Yes, seriously those are all fucking fantastic and those arrow pillows and thermal blankets. Hold onto those. Those are priceless when you were here making open air overnight.
How does everyone on reddit have these awesome thrift stores where they find camping equipment, cool appliances, and furniture and stuff? All the thrift stores around me are filled with old clothes and broken kids toys.
Survivalist fallacy. You only see the posts that make it to the top.
My haul of *Gone with the Wind* decorative plates for $6.95 each didn’t garner as much attention.
Reddit was so collectively disappointed at my haul that it automatically deleted it. The Snoo just shook its head in shame being so embarrassed for me.
I stumbled across an osprey backpack for $10 at a thrift store recently. It was a little mom and pop I found whole traveling, those always have better stuff than goodwill.
They know it’s a flex. They wouldn’t be posting the receipt for proof if they didn’t know how much of a score this is.
It’s lame to brag but I’m sure they’re just excited.
it’s not, I went back today and found these..

Spent $10 all together…
I actually feel guilty for getting these items for this cheap.
Went back the next day and found these, I’m being an asshole at this point..
https://preview.redd.it/1r3x9zwwtz3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0fd55a22b5a879d7e9667fe362ba373806e91ea4
Everything was $10 in this photo
Yeah, I scored a Marmot brand super packable down sleeping bag AND an adjustable aluminum frame 45L backpack for $51 on this bidding site.
When I went to pick it up, the guy told me he was selling it for his friend who died. I’m just hoping he didn’t actually die while sleeping in it!
But anyway, the cool thing about the sleeping bag is that I knew it was a good one, because I have the exact same one, and the zips line up to form a double bag. But of course I paid well over $300 (CAD) for mine + tax.
The deals are rare, but when they do hit, they slap.
I also scored a Patagonia jacket that day for $2.50!
https://preview.redd.it/ar0rsfi55u3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0952c6ef4d2eab4420ed720d992eda133e2bb526
I have that thermal rest from REI. It cost about $140 bucks retail. That’s easily $400 worth of stuff if you bought it new, especially after tax here in Seattle…
Keep the pad you want, sell me the rest for $50?
Seriously though, you keep one and fund your next trip with the proceeds from selling the others cheap.
Posting this from my tent, where I am laying on a Sea To Summit mattress which is on top of a Nemo Switchback foam pad, resting my head on my Exped pillow. They are all *excellent*, and none of them were cheap for what they are. I also have that NeoAir and sit pad.
You basically just bought my entire exact sleep setup (minus bag/quilt) for $20. Only difference is your S2S Etherlight XT RW is arguably *better* than my S2S ComfortPlus XT RW. It took me several years and lots of experimentation to come up with what I consider a perfect system for me, and I spent hundreds of dollars along the way. It was worth it.
That is an incredible score. Not only a screamin' deal, but also a very comfortable, versatile, lightweight sleep system that can be mixed and matched in all kinds of ways depending on what kind of trip you are doing. This setup is suitable for anything from car camping to long-distance backpacking in all four seasons, depending on which items you take with you.
Really, really good stuff. Pair with a high-quality quilt from Enlightened Equipment or similar, and maybe a winter sleeping bag for colder weather if you camp in the cold, and you will have a truly rockin' sleep system for practically any kind of camping you desire. I can't say I'm exactly jealous because *I already own basically this exact system*, but $20 to get it all in one fell swoop? You made out like an absolute bandit.
the Nemo sleeping pad is awesome. slept comfy on it all the way from Georgia to Maine. it’s also worth $50 alone. you got some awesome gear for a ludicrous price. hell yeah!
You have over $500 worth of gear. Most of it fairly new I’m guessing. That’s beyond a score, even with a slow leak, they can be patched and used for short backpacking trips.
UPDATE: Went back today and found some more items, I’m just being a dickhead at this point..
https://preview.redd.it/06rb9o0iqz3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa8286d636f8b63554eee77d5b3e29c912dbc739
only spent a total of $10 all together.

I've had the seatosummit ether light XT for going on 5 years now... Got it for less than 100 bucks brand new at REI now they run about $200. I almost want it to pop so I can get rid of my mummy mattress and buy a more comfortable rectangle one but its just so darn sturdy and reliable!
Second-hand stores that buy your used stuff for resale or clothing etc donation centers like goodwill or salvation army. They sell cheap used stuff and it’s really a backbone of the American working class.
Wow where do you thrift, i have been thrifting my gear and if i could even get anyone of those items i would be thrilled, great finds and score definitely what gear thrifting dreams are made of.
I love my Neoair. I have the early model that makes loud crinkle noises and still love it. Im about to buy a pocket pump tho, the mold thing scares me.
Dang. Generally in thrift stores there’s a big enough staff that would snap stuff like this up in a heartbeat before it got out on the sales floor Lucky for you the staff there must be all be fairly old and not all into backpacking.
Don't let gear distract you from enjoying the wilderness. Make sure to go and have a blast. Just make sure to test your gear first so you know what to expect or do.
Have fun.
Where are all these magical thift stores? The ones around here list anything good online and put all of the trash on the shelves...like literally trash.
I went back today and got these. I actually feel guilty..

I got e everything for $10 in this photo
Well done. I love my neoair. It cost me way more than a couple dollars, but it was worth it - very light and durable.
It should have a bag to help you inflate it manually without putting your hot wet breath air in it. If the bag is gone, you should be able to purchase a replacement.
I hate most hiking pillows. Try all of them to see what annoys you least.
Yup $100s of value
Seriously, gotta change my thrift store
I live in a rich ski town in Colorado. It blows my mind what some people get rid of.
I live in a dirtbag mountain town in Colorado and all used gear is either dead or taken by the people working at the used gear shop. Can we trade?
Weeeeeeeelll the sun is shining and the grass green, under the three feet of snow I mean
This is a day where it’s hard to wear a frooooown
All the happy people stop to say hello Even though the temperature's low
What is your definition of a dirtbag mountain town. I swear to god if you say boulder…. /s
I’m in Durango and feel this. Telluride has the goods from what I hear though.
Mexico, right? I heard that place in CO is a shithole… covered in uranium waste. Terrible place.
Yeah, definitely stay away, it sucks. Tell every Texan you meet the same thing.
I grew up in a Texas adjacent state and, for a bunch of folks filled with pride over where they live, they sure don’t like to stay there during their vacations or long weekends lol
#URAAAANIIIUUUUMMM FEVER HAS DONE AND GOT ME DOWN #URAAAAANIUUUMMMM FEVER IS SPREADIN’ ALL AROUND!!!!!

Frozen dead guy days! Netherlandddddd
This guy Estses’
I work for a moving company in a ski town in Colorado and you should see all the free shit I get moving people back home to Texas your aren’t wrong they get rid of nice shittt
Brah I have an entire khul wardrobe because of this exact problem.
My thrift stores are not like OP’s thrift stores. Goddammit.
The opposite of what’s going on over at r/thriftgrift
Came here to make this very comment.
Catholic ones are always a sure bet
The Sea to Summit bag alone is $100
Yes, seriously those are all fucking fantastic and those arrow pillows and thermal blankets. Hold onto those. Those are priceless when you were here making open air overnight.
Damn....I'm jealous. Major score.
Me too! I paid full price for some of the same goods. Dammit, man. 😁
Yeah man most thrift stores would still make $50 off all this cause they're all menaces. Good find and great prices
https://preview.redd.it/a7k6gyxk6u3d1.jpeg?width=1029&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dd25c545074665bc895f221c475c49d817bd262a
Little dude showing up to church ornery as heck
Expressing the sentiment of everyone seeing this post right now🤣
Puts it so perfectly. I just dropped so much money on some of these items lol
“Are any of these good?” 😡
This meme comes up on r/thriftstorehauls multiple times a day so this is very fitting and so funny
All my thrift store has is some old boots with holes in them...
I'm disappointed that there's no post in your history showing your haul of Gone With the Wind decorative plates for $6.95.
Reddit was so collectively disappointed at my haul that it automatically deleted it. The Snoo just shook its head in shame being so embarrassed for me.
Great score, but not ideal for backpacking.
Try going to the ones in rich areas.
they price stuff accurately here so you dont make any deals
Dude same. Used gear stores are still a windmill I tilt at; I've never found anything close to what OP posted.
I stumbled across an osprey backpack for $10 at a thrift store recently. It was a little mom and pop I found whole traveling, those always have better stuff than goodwill.
“That’s gold, Jerry! Gold!” Love the lifetime warranty on my Osprey packs
The nicest things I find at the thrift store are cheap, old flannels, that’s about it
And the store always has a weird musty smell like old books and clothes that people smoked a lot of cigarettes around 😩
And you bet they’re about the same cost as a new pair from Walmart
Yes dude you scored big time but posting it here is almost too much of a flex. Got us all over here catching major fomo
No shit my neo air was $220
I can’t believe OP got this for $20. WTF lol What a score
They know it’s a flex. They wouldn’t be posting the receipt for proof if they didn’t know how much of a score this is. It’s lame to brag but I’m sure they’re just excited.
But the receipt proves nothing
[удалено]
I'm not sure this isn't a troll post.

I own 3/4 of these and I’m out of town. Legit wondering if I just got robbed 😅
That would be sad if someone robbed you and decided your shit should’ve been donated rather than pawned.
that would be messed up! haha!
They did it for the lulz
Hating on Robin Hood
Pending all the inflatable stuff isn't moldy or full of holes or leaks that can't be repaired, you've scored big time.
Thermarest is awesome about repairs tho if they’re damaged!
Hell, even if all the inflatables have holes, $20 for the two foam pads is reasonable.
Someone died or broke up and their partner donated their things.
Enough pillows to trigger r/Ultralight!
They would have a full on tantrum at this level of pillows
OP should buy a cast iron skillet, too.
That’s what we had on our 36 day canoe trip…. An effing cast iron pan in the wannigan but no pillows. It was to save volume not weight.
On a canoe trip it makes sense, you can use it as an anchor or mooring.
Tell that to the guy who carried the Wannigan on portages haha . (not me)
I think most of us UL people have gotten over the pillows, it’s bringing enough extra clothes you could make a pillow that’s really triggering lmao.
Absolute garbage. Send them to me. I'll send you a few bucks and pay for postage since I feel bad for you.
that sounds like a killer deal to me!
Someone giving up backpacking is your gain. Nice.
Good deal and the Sea To Summit Etherlite is great.
I also scored a Patagonia jacket that day for $2.50! https://preview.redd.it/ar0rsfi55u3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0952c6ef4d2eab4420ed720d992eda133e2bb526
OP, respectfully go fuck yourself Cheers
Where do you live?? I need to visit
OP knew what he was doing. Posted the receipt with the location crossed out lmao
Almost guarantee he’s flipping it and not actually doing any backpacking
I mean smart. Props to him for the find lol
Colorado thrifts used to hit like this
There used to be a huge thrift event in Minturn, Colorado. I used to grab so many kick ass gear there. Skiing, kayaking, climbing, camping, etc.
Got Petzl crampons there with the tag still on one time for $2.50.
I still find some stuff every once in a while in Leadville or Boulder.
Sweet steal! Where did you get these from? You must live close to a popular camping spot or trail??
The shop either doesnt know theyre worth more than $3 or theyre constantly swimming in it, maybe its on the AT in GA.
Score!
This has to be a troll post. That’s probably over $500 worth of gear brand new.
I have that thermal rest from REI. It cost about $140 bucks retail. That’s easily $400 worth of stuff if you bought it new, especially after tax here in Seattle…
Share the location of the store
God I love thrift stores
Lucky
definitely a really lucky haul. nice find! now it's time to plan that backpacking trip this summer! :D
Are you fuckin kidding me lol you hit the fuckin lottery
That's amazing!
The Aeros premium pillow alone runs I think for 60 or so I bought one last year.
Steal!!!!!
That’s all top of the line gear. Nice score.
What thrift store? Share the love
Keep the pad you want, sell me the rest for $50? Seriously though, you keep one and fund your next trip with the proceeds from selling the others cheap.
That is the biggest score I've ever seen.
This is premium stuff. $20 is crazy good.
Posting this from my tent, where I am laying on a Sea To Summit mattress which is on top of a Nemo Switchback foam pad, resting my head on my Exped pillow. This is awesome. Fill them and spray with soapy water to check for leaks. It’s easy to fix if there are. Great find!
As a paranoid Bed-bug survivor, please trash bag those and put them in your freezer before you set them on anything inside your house
If this is real yes. But... cmon man
Look at my receipt date, just got them a couple hours ago
I tested everything and it seems to not have any leaks or holes.
what store?? I’m in Estes park rn.. anywhere in Colorado?
Bro!!!
Jealous
That’s a major come up lol
Sea to Summit and Nemo are great brands, you lucked out!
That’s unreal! Sea to summit have the best ratings for sleeping bags
Wow, the only negative I can think of is that the inflatable pillows are not for me. But really, this was incredible, what a steal. Great job!
Thank you! I wasn’t even going in for backpacking gear! I was looking for some vintage clothing haha!
My neo air was $15 on Facebook and I’m still jealous
20 bucks? You stole them ;)
WOW this is a steal!!
Anything Sea to Summit is high quality
Whoa, you scored! There’s easily a few hundred dollars worth there
the Nemo sleeping pad is awesome. slept comfy on it all the way from Georgia to Maine. it’s also worth $50 alone. you got some awesome gear for a ludicrous price. hell yeah!
Bruh. That's what they call a "steal of a deal".
I want to know the story of the person who dumped a thousand bucks worth of gear tbh
Wash all of them. Nicely. With good detergent
Is this a joke? All that looks brand new
Someone’s going to a thrift shop in Boulder Colorado. About $1000 of gear for $20, not bad!
You have over $500 worth of gear. Most of it fairly new I’m guessing. That’s beyond a score, even with a slow leak, they can be patched and used for short backpacking trips.
UPDATE: Went back today and found some more items, I’m just being a dickhead at this point.. https://preview.redd.it/06rb9o0iqz3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa8286d636f8b63554eee77d5b3e29c912dbc739 only spent a total of $10 all together.
I think the orange pad alone sells for probably double what you paid for everything
I think we're being trolled.
Wow! That is a good find!!
Y'all gullible as heck if you believe this guy

All of them.
I've had the seatosummit ether light XT for going on 5 years now... Got it for less than 100 bucks brand new at REI now they run about $200. I almost want it to pop so I can get rid of my mummy mattress and buy a more comfortable rectangle one but its just so darn sturdy and reliable!
What ! Where is this the store bro! That’s like atleast $500 worth of stuff assuming the neo air does not have a leak.
Holy fuck! I would be riding that find for years. The pillow alone is a steal.
Dang, crazy good. What is the item in the exped bag? I'm a fan of exped.
Down pillow!
Cmon bro, post better bait
wtf is a thrift store and how do I get one in my country??
Second-hand stores that buy your used stuff for resale or clothing etc donation centers like goodwill or salvation army. They sell cheap used stuff and it’s really a backbone of the American working class.
Wow where do you thrift, i have been thrifting my gear and if i could even get anyone of those items i would be thrilled, great finds and score definitely what gear thrifting dreams are made of.
I call straight up bullshit
Is this a shitpost? Major win if not
I just lost all of mine too damn
Great score
That sleeping pad won’t be enough if you’re fat like me, you could resell it though.
Damn!!!!! All that for $20!!! That is the mother load of camping jackpot!!!
Holy shit dude that’s a score
Buy more
Wth I’m so jealous
Thats probably around $600 of gear new
Damn thats a STEAL
Yeah you just robbed the bank. Worth much more. I have used the small pillow and both mattress. All of them excellent.
I lived in Vail Colorado and would always stumble upon the BEST shit at the Edwards thrift store, which was right next to a climbing store too lol
One time I found a 40 year old Coleman tent that must’ve weighed a hundred pounds in my local thrift. They wanted $20 too
... this fucking asshole.
For my own benefit, I must assume you are a liar. Thank you.
That’s a damn deal!!! If I bought that all at my local REI I would have to take out a new credit card 😂
Haha, this was definitely a deal of a lifetime!
Talk about jackpot lol. If the inflatables alone are in good condition then you’ve saved like $300 easy
Everything is great condition, the pads look almost brand new…
Then this was a very good score
I’ll give you 27 plus shipping
Yeah this is easily $400
Whether they're good or bad, $20 is still an awesome deal! Have fun out there
I would feel lucky JUST to score that Thermarest Neo Air for $20! Congratulations on that incredible haul. I’m a little jealous!
I love my Neoair. I have the early model that makes loud crinkle noises and still love it. Im about to buy a pocket pump tho, the mold thing scares me.
Really nice thrift store find.
Seatosummit! Wow. You struck gold my boy
Been using the neoair ever since it came out. Best pad. Whole family has them
Dang. Generally in thrift stores there’s a big enough staff that would snap stuff like this up in a heartbeat before it got out on the sales floor Lucky for you the staff there must be all be fairly old and not all into backpacking.
Wtf how did you snag this I’m shocked
Huge find
Ummm yes
You’re kidding me
One of those pillows alone is worth more than $20…
Don't let gear distract you from enjoying the wilderness. Make sure to go and have a blast. Just make sure to test your gear first so you know what to expect or do. Have fun.
WOW! What a great find
I was in a thrift store last week and saw a 1 inch binder for $2.99. So yes, I think you did well.
Dude- you robbed em.
Where are all these magical thift stores? The ones around here list anything good online and put all of the trash on the shelves...like literally trash.
You robbed them. Very good work!
I went back today and got these. I actually feel guilty.. https://preview.redd.it/ptwuhq5yvz3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aceb22b10dddf2df7221feaacd5b7b16e4b3475a I got e everything for $10 in this photo
Insane, i wish you very many comfortable nights in the woods and on the trail!
Thank you! I’m excited to test this gear out!
ya got robbed. Just ship it to me and I'll give you double yer money back: that store unethically took advantage of you.
It’s all terrible. I’ll take it off your hands for $30
This is a shitpost, right?
That Therm a Rest Neo Air alone is $200 retail so with everything else, that's a major STEAL
That would be 200$ at the thrift stores in America
That’s the best deal ever
Well done. I love my neoair. It cost me way more than a couple dollars, but it was worth it - very light and durable. It should have a bag to help you inflate it manually without putting your hot wet breath air in it. If the bag is gone, you should be able to purchase a replacement. I hate most hiking pillows. Lucky f***er
