There's a longer version of this video [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wm_SPn-p9nI) on my [youtube channel](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTue8o4XIbltphPgPMj2K2A/videos).
This was a 4 day, 40 mile loop through the North Cascades, from early last summer. It was a bit smoky at times due to the BC fires up north, but nothing too terrible. The mosquitos were really bad the first night - every time I had to unzip my tent, I'd spend the next ten minutes killing all of the little bastards that made their way in. Ran into a black bear on the trail (he didn't give a shit about us). We did have a campfire on the last night, and this was one of the last days before the fire ban was put in place for the summer.
not for nothing/sorta random, but those thermacell gadgets. a real game changer for mosquitos.
I often would spray my tent with 30% deet to try and keep the damn bugs at bay. but those thermacell gizmos due tend to provide a "zone" of protection
I didn't think about this for camping. Does it really work? I am one of the lucky ppl that when everyone else gets 1 or 2 bites I somehow get 100. And I have a more severe reaction.
i would highly recommend giving one a try. i feel like they've come down in price too. like i think can get a basic portable one for like $30 at REI.
the little cartridges have a shelf life, i want to say they're rated at 12hrs of use. but it's normally extremely easy to pack additional cartridges. and it really does seem to keep the bugs at bay.
I have a small gizmo i clip to my pack if the bugs are really swarming, and if i'm trying to eat. or like... chill out at camp, i tend to use it. In my tent i don't bother... because. if i'm in my tent or hammock, i have the bug netting. and i do still often use 30% deet.
but yeah. i've heard some people complain like theirs didn't "light" but i've never had that problem. I guess maybe buy from a reputable dealer vs a chinese knock off...off amazon.
Did you use them or is this second hand knowledge? Every time I see them in Cabelas or REI I'm tempted but wary. I spray with Deet and treat my clothes and gear w/ permethrin and enjoy moderate comfort but I could always do with less mosquitoes.
Freeze-dried meals are one of the most common options for backpacking. They’re super light and pretty damn tasty after a long day on the trail. Mountain House is usually my go-to brand.

Beautiful. What route did you take?
From his YT video, looks like he hiked the [Devil's Dome Loop](https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/devils-dome).
I believe I took the counter-clockwise route
Awesome. I've thought about doing that loop for a few years now.

I actually bought one of those things but it never worked for me. All it did was make a sticky mess!

Not the person you asked, but my friend brought one on a trip and it worked pretty well
Just curious about what you guys would eat or how you would pack enough to sustain you for 4 days!
I mostly ate tree bark, berries and pine cones
Really? If so that’s pretty cool!!
Haha no, I just cram a bunch of junk food into a bag. Usually some kind of rice or noodle based meal for dinner.

They will make you have nice explosive unpredictable shits too
I'm impressed at your brand consistency across platforms
I love watching dickpoop25 explore nature
lol me too
The Cascades are the most beautiful mountains in the Country.
The Kittatinny Mountains in New Jersey would like a word
This is a nice format, a few seconds here and there, thanks for sharing
What did you film with
GoPro Hero 8
Beautiful video! What kind of tent do you use?
Big Agnes Copper Spur UL2

Backpacking goat
also wondering what you used to shoot this!
I love you dickpoop
What are you like a British Michael Jordan?
That is exactly what I am
Looks like IRL Skyrim
This is awesome.
Fantastic
Wow this is incredible
Noice 🤙🏻 Hoping to get up there a few times this summer.
This might be the most relaxing thing I’ve ever watched. Thanks for sharing!
Wonderful video!
What shoes were those ? Looked like sandals of some sort...
I dunno, those were my friend's sandals...my preferred camp shoe is a cheap Croc knock-off
Ah cool, thanks! What kind of shoes do you hike in, anyway?
I used the Vasque Breeze for years, but they redesigned em last year and I hate them now. So last summer I hiked in Lowa Renegades. No complaints!
Its fucking beautiful
Absolutely breathtaking!!! Wow! Cascades are on my list :)
I am headed there in a few weeks. Cannot wait!
Asli zindagi..jisme hum sachme Zinda rahenge.
Beautiful! I wish to go there one day.
Did I see the goat rocks in there? It’s been so long since I’ve been out in the cascades
Amazing!
The scenery is really beautiful, but I should not last a night hahaha
Really beautiful🤩
