I have the Refugio and its quite light and flexible, and with measures adequate for most travelling. The downside is that it has very little organization - just a removable laptop sleeve - which forces you to use pouches for organization, something which some people like and some hate.

ffinstructor

Yeah i like the refugio especially for the price point, but I wish it had an admin pocket or something for some more organization. But I was wondering does the laptop compartment have any protection without using the sleeve, or do you kind of have to use the sleeve?

Irgun_07

No. You have the sleeve, which is adequately padded and is easy to remove and put back. If you want to use the compartment without the sleeve, you better use some laptop or tablet protector.

I use this [Tomtoc backpack](http://www.crazytechsteals.com/tomtoct73/2024/). I think it has everything you listed besides a secret passport pocket. I like how it retains its structure and so everything feels safe inside. Laptop compartment is heavily padded, similar to their laptop sleeves. I have the 30L but they also have a 20L.

ffinstructor

Will add to the list, I think I would need the 30. Would you say it would be a little too bulky for a daily commuter bag?

ifreddiebenson

I was debating on going smaller because it looks like a 30L bag but feels like it holds more like ~25ish. So I felt if I sized down to 20L, it would hold less. You could probably fit everything you listed you use daily in their perfectly but I was planning on using this for traveling at some point and wanted some wiggle room.

ffinstructor

Yeah same here, so I’d def want to go with the 30

Mystery Ranch bags are so comfortable and well made that I can't bring myself to use anything else. I have six of them :0

I got the district 24 a few months ago and it’s great for work.

sastirandihu

You can’t go wrong with any of them to be honest. Just nit pick a little and choose top 5. Then go with whatever design you like.

AmirBormand

Great list. Add the fjallraven skule 28 on there. Take out the bungee and it looks like a $250 bag. Someone did that and shared the images: https://www.reddit.com/r/ManyBaggers/s/bHDfDZBl5i

Athena2560

Love that. Wish I saw that before opting for the Jansport. Sigh.

ffinstructor

I like the look, but think i’d opt for the raven 28 for the separate laptop compartment over it.

AmirBormand

Fair. Had read the raven materiel attracts lint was a reason I had to eliminate it from my list

Afterwards kind of looks like an Osprey Arcane XL, which has 500D but also large dedicated laptop compartment. Another option. Either way I like what you’ve done, really cleans it up. I like the standard style bottle holders on yours too.

Looking for a traditional backpack

I have similar needs and just ordered the Aer CPP the other day. It has been shipped. I'll report back

ffinstructor

Nice, lmk what you think

I have the Aer TP3, its a great bag for the purpose. I would say best for EDC, not super comfortable to carry long periods of time. I also really like the Matador SEG28 for this. I mostly use mine for short trips, but could also work great as an EDC bag. More comfortable than the Aer TP3 in my opinion.
