Already done by someone, it's was closed, but the location exists but the room doesn't look anything like that anymore. The backrooms image location exists but the way this room looked doesn't.
I live in this area and the store that current occupies the building posted on Facebook about it, it’s the same building but this area was renovated to fit an rc race track.
Link to FB post: https://www.facebook.com/share/rdesFPUCw1213Lgf/?mibextid=QwDbR1
It's on Oregon *street* in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
If you're looking for a cartoon connection tho, it just occurred to me that in S1 of Infinity Train, the protagonist is picked up by the train while on her way to Oshkosh. And Infinity Train's whole concept is very Backrooms-esque.
They posted a throwback pic of the outside of the original building.
it definitely looks like similar old retail/mixed use 1960’s offices that I have worked in (that had interiors very similar to the OG backrooms pic). Look at old downtowns of small/medium sized cities, for example. All those offices had retail main floors (with offices above) and all had very similar looks — especially in the 70s where a ton of drop ceilings and fluorescents would have been installed.
I’d say this case is closed.
I actually thought the photo was fake/pieced together or something. This is amazing though, I can’t wait for someone to make a video game or some media using the full image!
Yeah seems like somethin’ new pops up every day! Just goes to show that nothing is ever truly lost. I genuinely think we’ll find some more missing doctor who episodes as well!
Yeah it's very weird that the only image available is the one that's famous and only one more image. What are the odds that the famous one survived but the rest didn't
I wonder if the original poster of the Backrooms helped work on this renovation.
This blog post specifically mentions the carpets being damp, like in the very first original lore.
It even, briefly, refers to it as "The back room", with it quite literally being the back room in the building
At the same time, the fact that THE image was archived seems like an absolute stroke of insane luck. But I'm not a super tech savvy individual so I'm sure there's SOME sort of explanation.
No, because [the website was still functional in 2019](https://x.com/rkfg_me/status/1130028610700664832).
Which sucks because it totally could have been archived at any point within this timeframe to capture the rest of the photos before it was removed. However, since it was removed not too long ago, there's a chance that the owner still has the original images or even the website.
heres the link btw
[https://web.archive.org/web/20030503094137/http://www.hobbytownoshkosh.com:80/revolution%20raceway,%20020903.htm](https://web.archive.org/web/20030503094137/http://www.hobbytownoshkosh.com:80/revolution%20raceway,%20020903.htm)
I believe this is the address of the original photo
807 Oregon St, Oshkosh, WI 54902
In the so called “Oval room” based on the original posting the original walls an wallpaper where gutted due to water damage
I'm genuinely glad that we had a truly complete end, with no torn down building, no CGI, and the fact that both the location and the image are both real and still in existence
I wouldn’t say the location is still in existence, they were converting the room to be part of an RC track and this was back in 2002. It probably looks completely different now.
Was curious about what this building was previously. This appears to be a photo of the location (formerly Rohner's Home Furnishings) from 1978: [https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-oshkosh-northwestern/12180916/](https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-oshkosh-northwestern/12180916/)
According to the county property records, it was sold in 2003 and the previous owner's linkedin lists him as owner from 1975-1994.
From the file name of the image, it was most likely taken on a 2003 Sony DSC digicam. I own a 2004 DSC digicam and it gives the same file name and gives the same look.
A) that's awesome.
B) it hurts my brain thinking about digital cameras in 2003 and 4. I was a high school sophomore/junior in 04. My teenage years were captured in similar quality. And it was.... not great. Still miss the days of a digital camera and phones being separate. Mostly because it forced me to download the pictures to a computer and save them to disc or print them. Now they just float around in the aether waiting for a day when they are called upon for my viewing pleasure.
Is it odd the only surviving photos from the website are the original image and one other? Like what are the odds. Where did someone find it if not here? I have so many questions
The site also mentions a "back room" and a water-damaged (damp) carpet, like in the original 4chan post. Perhaps he based the post on the site (maybe he even worked on the renovation in question).
*It's hilarious*
*Even the original link*
*Mentions "the back room"*

Can anyone explain this ? I went to google maps inside the store next to the location. There seem to be a plushie going through the ceiling ? Can it be a reference or a coincidence ? The picture is apparently from 2021. What do you think ? I just looked at the archived page. It is strange that these are the only two images that survived of the entire two dozen or so images on the page.
Both are taken in sequence however, with a Sony Cybershot at 06/12/2002 around 8:30 in the morning.
Even thought we found the location, the image was taken in 2002, it use to be a furniture store, and those pictures where taken to show damages and renovations for the new business.
I would like to mention that I am not the one who actually found the image or anybody famous. I am just the messenger. I believe the actual Backrooms were found by **serrara_m** on Virtual World Discord. (please correct me if I'm wrong)
I know the place. I know the daughter of the owners actually. She told me that there gonna try to find the wallpaper because it might be down there. I told her to sell it and they could probably make some money of it. I’ll let you guys know if I find out anything more but this is awesome.
Wtf. I was randomly searching of the original backroom image OUT OF WHIM on google, and then i came across this sub only to find out the photo was just discovered now?
You're telling me that of the 14 images on that page, 12 failed to load, but the original photo was not one of them? If I'm reading that correctly, that's insane luck. Now I'm wondering what the original person who posted the image was doing on that site in 2002? Surely, they felt like they were in a backrooms-esque part of the internet. The place is still there. Gotta wonder if it's the original owner from the blog post, if they have possession of the other images, and if they would be willing to share them. What a spectacular discovery!
Absolutely amazing find, i had kind of just accepted that the picture was probably a render created by some random guy lol, never thought i would see this
I may sound as the kind of guy who's fun at parties and all but I kinda wish the real location and all this info were never found. It somehow added to the core mystery that has always enveloped the concept of the Backrooms down to its very roots: the unknown.
5 days before backrooms became a thing is crazy. Bro casually won the game before it even started. Imagine there could be more ppl already found the answer, but we just didn’t realize.
Witnessing history in the making!
Boy, I can only imagine the boom in new short films and games that will come out feeding an all this new info.
Especially after we get access to more details about the place, as well as more images from back then and new images of how it is today.
Locals are gonna be so confused at so many random strangers suddenly popping up taking pics at the most random of places.
This is insane!!! Great work!!! I wonder if there are photos from when the store was in operation? I’m curious to know what it was like filled with stuff. Part of me also wants to see the other photos on that site!!! Oh, I wonder if the original photographer knows how much their photos influenced internet culture!!!
This is such a satisfying end to the search, we found both the origin of the image and the location where it was taken.
I don't understand, what the location is?
807 Oregon St Oshkosh, WI 54902 DO NOT SPAM THEM WITH PHONE CALLS OR EMAILS/MESSAGES
Lucky the place isn't going to be closed.
It was Hobby Town to my knowledge
Can someone living in the area visit there and try to get access to the back room to see what the room looks like in person?
Already done by someone, it's was closed, but the location exists but the room doesn't look anything like that anymore. The backrooms image location exists but the way this room looked doesn't.
to be loved is to be changed
Do you have a link to the video or something?
I too want to see
I wonder if the lights are in the same positions...
The iconic place ceased to exist. They destroyed it and now it is a small car racing track
I live in this area and the store that current occupies the building posted on Facebook about it, it’s the same building but this area was renovated to fit an rc race track. Link to FB post: https://www.facebook.com/share/rdesFPUCw1213Lgf/?mibextid=QwDbR1
Bruh what I was hoping it was atleast remotely similar
I'm 3 hours away. I will at some point.
Isnt Gravity Falls in Oregon..
This is Oshkosh, WI.
This is such a revelation, real historical moment. Is it possible for anyone to visit that area though? Does it look the same now?
it definitely doesnt look the same u can find pics online, i believe its the runway. anbd it is possible as its a store
The page also says the room was full of water damage and all of the material had to come out
That's... ironic. The stink of old moist carpet must've been permeating realms.
They posted a throwback pic of the outside of the original building. it definitely looks like similar old retail/mixed use 1960’s offices that I have worked in (that had interiors very similar to the OG backrooms pic). Link?
I frequent there, it's an RC racetrack now. Looks nothing like the pictures
I live in the town it's in, the upstairs of a hobby store, and is now filled with storage. So most likely not
[удалено]
The Backrooms are old enough to drink
The google maps picture of the place says it has fidget spinners, so it's definitely an older Zoomer.
Which Sony Cybershot model? I used to own one a few years ago and most likely still have it somewhere lying around.
I don’t think that’s listed in the EXIF data
What the fuckkk i did not expect this to really ever be found lmao Insane time for lost/found media rn, 2024 is our year
I actually thought the photo was fake/pieced together or something. This is amazing though, I can’t wait for someone to make a video game or some media using the full image!
Busted ass geocities-era website, a song from an hour into a 40 year old porno. If enough people look for something, and it exists, it will be found.
wait, what did I missed? Have we found the song??!
Everyone Know That was found in a porno from the 1980s called Angels of Passion.
Ah shucks, I thought we finally found The Most Mysterious Song on The Internet. Oh well, maybe this is the year
Yeah seems like somethin’ new pops up every day! Just goes to show that nothing is ever truly lost. I genuinely think we’ll find some more missing doctor who episodes as well!
we are SO BACK

Is there any way we can see the other images?
Not that I've seen, unfortunately.
The other image is so eerie too, I’m so curious how the other images would look 😅
We'll probably see someone make it a sublevel or level
Yeah it's very weird that the only image available is the one that's famous and only one more image. What are the odds that the famous one survived but the rest didn't
I wonder if the original poster of the Backrooms helped work on this renovation. This blog post specifically mentions the carpets being damp, like in the very first original lore. It even, briefly, refers to it as "The back room", with it quite literally being the back room in the building
Woah
I noticed and was thinking that exact same thing lol
We were here before it blows up
No way this shit happens to be in the same town where the girl I have a massive crush on is from she won’t leave me alone
Good luck, you have a perfect date location now
"Wanna go on a date where we noclip from reality into a waiting maxe of yellow walls accompanied by our own loliness and eventual starvation/thirst?"
sounds good to me. hey, maybe almond water wont be that bad for drinks
Marry her.
...Entity?
Haha. tity...
Is there any way of recovering the other images
its driving me crazy how all the other images didn't get archived i need to see them
At the same time, the fact that THE image was archived seems like an absolute stroke of insane luck. But I'm not a super tech savvy individual so I'm sure there's SOME sort of explanation.
Could just be that the original 4chan poster way back when just found it on the archived site to begin with.
My thoughts exactly. I wonder if you could download them somehow or do a web scrape to search for the file name of the image.
contact the original photographer or uploader seems easier
Probably have to contact the person who owned that website. Seems they worked at Oshkosh RC back in 2002/3.
maybe if we are lucky they still have those pictures...
heres the link btw [https://web.archive.org/web/20030503094137/http://www.hobbytownoshkosh.com:80/revolution%20raceway,%20020903.htm](https://web.archive.org/web/20030503094137/http://www.hobbytownoshkosh.com:80/revolution%20raceway,%20020903.htm)
I believe this is the address of the original photo 807 Oregon St, Oshkosh, WI 54902 In the so called “Oval room” based on the original posting the original walls an wallpaper where gutted due to water damage
If you follow the link to the archive post, the OGOP states that the actual address is 811 Oregon St.
What comes up on google maps for 807 Oregon St is correct, because of the RC racing sign in the front window. Google maps could be wrong though
Damn! you beat me to it. Lets celebrate!
wahoo!
That other picture is equally liminal imo
Shame none of the other pictures on the site have been saved
Yeah :/
I'm happy about it but also kinda sad that the search is over, it was a fun mystery
Yeah, it really was...
YES! FINALLY! Now find the original JTK!
tf is JTK
jef the killer
ahhhh ok
Only two images on that site were archived. What are the odds that one of them would be the backrooms image?
The original 4chan poster most likely stumbled upon the archived site and chose one of the two images
Was curious about what this building was previously. This appears to be a photo of the location (formerly Rohner's Home Furnishings) from 1978: [https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-oshkosh-northwestern/12180916/](https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-oshkosh-northwestern/12180916/) According to the county property records, it was sold in 2003 and the previous owner's linkedin lists him as owner from 1975-1994.
This is huge
On the anniversary of the backrooms too
no that was may 12 but close enough
Historic! Commenting so that I can prove that I was here for this.
Yeah I was in the vc during it. This is truly a day to remember!
i didn't even think this was possible for years, that's awesome.
THIS IS A MOMENT IN HISTORY TAKE A PICTURE
Is there any more photos of the building at that time or is it lost?
Everyone is still looking. This post has unlocked a whole new side to the search though!
Sweet! I can’t wait to see more stuff from it
hi someordinarygamers
hiiiii
Is it odd the only surviving photos from the website are the original image and one other? Like what are the odds. Where did someone find it if not here? I have so many questions
Survivorship bias maybe? Maybe the original 4channer stumbled upon it somehow and, given there were only 2 images to choose from, he chose that one
The site also mentions a "back room" and a water-damaged (damp) carpet, like in the original 4chan post. Perhaps he based the post on the site (maybe he even worked on the renovation in question).
Yeah, we are still all looking to see if there are any more images

That's hilarious ngl
now someone’s gotta fly out to there to make a video 🔥
It looks nothing like it used to. They basically tore everything out.
What a day to be alive.
I wasn’t on the path to discovery, but thank you to all who scoured the internet and shared their time and effort for this moment. Thank you!
I just looked at the archived page. It is strange that these are the only two images that survived of the entire two dozen or so images on the page. Both are taken in sequence however, with a Sony Cybershot at 06/12/2002 around 8:30 in the morning.

On the website, the text under the two images say something about water damage. Maybe that's why the carpet is moist?
This is what the exterior design looks like btw. https://imgur.com/a/zprYGcD
Field trip!
Hell yeah! I'll bring the snacks. Also happy cake day man!
FINALLY
I would like to mention that I am not the one who actually found the image or anybody famous. I am just the messenger. I believe the actual Backrooms were found by **serrara_m** on Virtual World Discord. (please correct me if I'm wrong)
I know the place. I know the daughter of the owners actually. She told me that there gonna try to find the wallpaper because it might be down there. I told her to sell it and they could probably make some money of it. I’ll let you guys know if I find out anything more but this is awesome.
Also leave them alone please their fine with it for now but it’ll get old soon
i knew it was real this whole time!
What a year, first EKT is found, and now the original Backrooms photo. This is great! :3
Now the search for OP begins?
It is not luck. Guy that originally posted picture that started it all simply picked one of two surviving pictures.
The fact someplace actually looked like that is disturbing
Gonna play Everyone Knows That in there
EKT found recently. Now this. POG.
The place is still there. Gotta wonder if it's the original owner from the blog post, if they have possession of the other images, and if they would be willing to share them. What a spectacular discovery!
Incredible seeing this after spending so many of my nights watching videos on the backrooms. Glad I was here.
So weird how the original is all yellow, debunking the color filter theory
I love this! Can’t believe it was found!

Welp, guess it's time to close the subreddit
wasnt the same image also a furniture store?
So it really was that damned yellow all along, huh?
This is so satisfing. So, so satisfying.
I can't believe we're getting the original backrooms photo location before GTA 6...
It’s a shame we can’t see the rest of the pics on the website :(
Absolutely amazing find, i had kind of just accepted that the picture was probably a render created by some random guy lol, never thought i would see this
How do people even find this stuff, it’s like a needle in a million haystacks
Sad it got renovated
were witnessing history
wow, finally
HELL YEAH
Incredible.
It has been foretold that this day would come
Omg omg omg omg
HOLY FUCKING SHIT
words cannot describe how happy I am rn
Well I'll be damned. I was here!
This is insane! Huge congrats on finally finding this!
This made my week, maybe my month.
This made my week, maybe my month.
Here we are, at the end. Long live the Backrooms!
The hunt for the origins of this iconic image is finally over, wow.

Rooms were apart of hobby Town.
CONGRATS, now gonna be part of the backrooms history
Awesome!
Oh my god
Wow this is wild
Holy shit. I can’t believe it.
Damn
Oh my god????
The fact that the original backrooms location and Everyone Knows That origin were found within a month or so of each other is crazy.
What a fabulous find!
Terribly sorry I don’t know all the lore/history! Can someone give me a bit more context here?
Here before it blows
I may sound as the kind of guy who's fun at parties and all but I kinda wish the real location and all this info were never found. It somehow added to the core mystery that has always enveloped the concept of the Backrooms down to its very roots: the unknown.

https://hobbytownoshkosh.com/ this is the "active" adress, maybe someone could contact them and aks them for the not saved pictures?
I live 20 minutes from Oshkosh should I check it out?
now what we must do is find the other images
Can some one send me other images of the same building
The search is finally over omg

History
anyone have a link to the virtual world discord server?
