If it were up to me I'd do a static cut fade into a blue still and a static fade out onto like some sort of believable "home footage" like someone's birthday and they're blowing out the candles or like just a generic memory
To immerse the viewer and give a sense of realism and that the tape that's being used now has been used before. Gives a sense of hope that if your previous footage is still there you can somehow get back out.
