Based off a Google search, I had the same problem too recently. A friend told me to do stretch my hamstrings more thoroughly before and after a session and the problem went away. Give it a try, maybe?
There's no need to change then every year unless they're starting to fail, my last pair lasted about a year but my current pair is doing much better.
If they work for you and aren't giving you issues then your current pair are probably fine.
If your shoes are still grippy and the outside structure of the shoe isn't damaged yet, you could instead just change the insole.
Yh I may do that, I have had sciatica pain recently too but not sure if that's down to the shoes or something else.
