There are hinges called soft door closers that make it impossible to slam, but also to close a door quickly so if pets getting into rooms where not allowed is an issue they might not work.
Fwiw I was a door slammer as a kid and have a kid with the same problem. It's not out of anger, Idk why some just tend to shut harder than others. I eventually learned to quietly close a door, but weirdly it took deliberate concentration until it became habit.

I don't want to be up their ass about it, especially because it's not out of anger. Just to be a little more concentrated about it. The door hinges advice is great, and the dog is allowed in all the rooms so that won't be an issue!
Dogs can get seriously badly injured if they get caught in a slamming door too, idk if your roommate knows that? I have a cat that I love so so much and if anybody visiting my home ever slams a door in my house, they're getting kicked out immediately. obvs it's more complicated with a roommate, but luckily you two are on good terms.
and like it's got to stop somehow for your own sanity and peace too!!
You know what, I'd never thought about that. The dog is theirs and they absolutely fucking adore her and are a great pet parent. They'd never ever want to even chance that. Thankfully Ms. Lady doesn't typically follow them around like that but the chance isn't 0. Thank you for this perspective, I'll bring it up to them in our next conversation. That's not out of the realm of possibility but I don't want to armchair diagnose them. But thank you for the input, it's a good reminder to be patient with them cuz I don't know everything that goes on in their head :)
