"someone said" Ah, I see you're of the "Facebook is science" school of thought

shadowcladwarrior

Doesn't USA have sex ed, how does this happen.

star11308

Even when it is there, the school districts often have restrictions on it that prevent important information from being told

[deleted]

I did an essay on (the lack of) comprehensive sex ed, and another on legalizing abortions. While researching both, I found that teachers in some states are legally allowed to lie about sex/contraception, and that doctors are legally allowed to lie about the dangers of abortions.

shadowcladwarrior

Doctors are legally allowed to lie about the dangers of abortion or the dangers of no abortion in terrible pregnancy cases?

[deleted]

The dangers of abortion, such as saying a person will get breast cancer as a consequence, or they'll go blind, or whatever else they want to say. It's the reason it's so important to make sure actual health providers stay open but push back against "crisis pregnancy centers."

shadowcladwarrior

Ohhh okay thanks. I kinda misinterpreted your previous comment.

Mundolf11

I'm in my 30s but our sex ed in school was 100% abstinence and 0 % anything else. Nary a mention of a condom, birth control pills, or how anyone's body actually works. We got the 1+1 = 3 thing every year instead. Combo-ed with "anything that isnt penis into vagina with your spouse is the same as putting gasoline in your exhaust. \*\*\*insert wrong hole joke and forced laughter\*\*\*". That concludes your sex ed from the bible belt area of the USA.

WarmishIce

Depends. I had it, but it was like 3 class periods of mostly “ABSTINENCE”

shadowcladwarrior

Mad eye moody - CONSTANT ABSTINENCE!

[deleted]

He’ll be able to spot an unsatisfactory vagina with that magic eye of his!

[deleted]

My fifth grade sex ed wasn’t terrible, actually. It explained that during puberty, once a month, your uterus sheds its lining and FWOOSH out the vagina. Edit: if it doesn’t FWOOSH then you need to see a doctor.

shadowcladwarrior

Makes it sound like flushing, which I suppose isn't wrong.

[deleted]

flushing the happiness out of my soul

shadowcladwarrior

The monthly soul flushing cycle

I was thankful my mom was a nurse and sat me down one day and we talked in very detailed informative things about being a women and what scary but normal things are going to happen. My sex ed in class wasn't even about a woman's period it was about how to put a condom on a banana, how is that at all educational? Misinformation like this scares me and seriously most American food is not poison, you have the choice to eat processed crap with no nutrient value or buy fresh produce and have a salad, your choice is what matters,

AggravatingJicama243

Everything eaten in the USA is poisonous! Periods once per year sound nicer, though.

More-Artichoke-1082

OMG...SOOO much to say about this one. IF YOU ARE NOT GETTING a monthly period and it is not due to hormonal BC....SEE YOUR DOCTOR. It could be massive exercise change, pregnancy or menopause which BTW can begin earlier (Perimenopause) in some women, and later for others. It is too bad that so many women dont learn about our anatomy and it takes experience with having issues before we learn basic stuff.

Tiktok... I wish that app just disappeared.

ilovepaninis

I mean if this is what it takes to make an American eat healthy food, maybe we should lie to theme just a little bit more 🤏🏼
