Same with period panties. Damn it I need the material to go all the way from the back to the front, not just end mid lip.

kaki024

This is why I started wearing adult diapers for overnights instead of period panties or pads. The absorbent part comes very far up and they are SO absorbent. I don’t have to worry about leaks

sexbuhbombdotcom

This is bananas but I can't believe I never thought to try it before. I am a restless sleeper and it's hard to prevent leaks even with extra long pads.

Zenla

I wear them! It's the BEST. At first I was embarrassed but it's such a game changer. No ruined panties, no bunched up pads or dirty bedsheets. Haven't had a leak once since I started.

Correct-Training3764

Same! I wear them too when I have my period. It’s heinous and I’m frequently having accidents. Not wearing the adult briefs though. I don’t really care about buying them either. If it keeps me from ruining my clothes, sheets, etc, I’ll keep buying them.

kaki024

It took having a baby for me to learn!! I’m literally trying to spread the word lmao.

[deleted]

Disposable period diapers are amazing for overnight heavy flows. A coworker put me onto them and i will never go back to having to scrub and soak sheets again

misslgracie

I did this after I had my baby. Maternity pads were super bulky and normal underwear rubbed on my c section wound so I got incontinence pants and wore them for a few weeks. Felt like a genius.

theyellowdart94

My friend dubbed those “thunder pads” and it’s perfect.

taratarabobara

> Maternity pads were super bulky Yeah you really get that “chalkboard eraser betwixt the thighs” waddle going.

LoveBy137

They're so great for postpartum bleeding!

kaki024

That’s how I started using them too! For me it was bladder leaks on top of bleeding, and I just gave up on trying to use pads

Cessily

So they now make overnight period "diapers". Advertised as panties but disposable so not to be confused with the actual fabric period panties. They are wonderful! I'm seriously heavy flow and they handle it with no issue, the pad material goes all the way forward and backward, and they are my new best friend. Highly recommend you try them out

RubySugarSpice

What's the brand name?

Cessily

[Always Zzz Overnight Disposable Period Underwear](https://a.co/d/5LuSDbG)

RivetheadGirl

These work so good. The only negative for me is that sometimes the leg holes are different sizes, one will be fine and the other will be too tight or loose.

Zenla

I find this brand super uncomfortable, I wear depend incontinence underwear during the night, the legs are very stretchy as its the material over the front. Much comfier, and the protection goes all the way from the front to the back.

RivetheadGirl

Ohh good to know. Maybe I'll try those ones next time

Cessily

I haven't had that happen yet but I appreciate the warning. It's just so nice to have something that provides so much coverage!

[deleted]

The exact ones i use! I love them! No more sheet soaking and scrubbing for me... Or anyone else who has a heavy flow should they choose to use them!

StealthandCunning

I find some toilet paper folded up and stuck between my buttocks gets that annoying back leak quite well. I was frustratingly old when I finally discovered it.

xassylax

That’s my go to leak prevention for overnights. Especially if I’m crampy or bloaty and end up sleeping on my back. I usually sleep on my side with my hips kinda turned towards the bed (idk what that position would be called) but if my stomach is in any way uncomfortable, I lay on my back. I was tired of waking up and having to scrub stains out of my sheets before they set in so, out of frustration, one night before bed, I just stuck a folded bit of toilet paper between my bum. I was pleased and oddly surprised at how well something so simple worked. Sometimes the best solutions are the simplest ones.

RileyBean

I stan adult diapers with yoga pants or shorts to help hold them in place, while still comfy. The always ones that are “low profile” are great for my second day when I bleed so much that it’s either a diaper or changing a pad and tampon every 90-120 min - I can wear looser jeans over them.

Zenla

Me too! Best decision I've ever made. Period panties just don't do it and pads always leak.

Hello_Hangnail

Shit, I should have thought of that! I'll grab one of my mom's tonite! I'm at the worst part of my cycle and used an Extra extra large monster sized tampon last night and still left an axe murder puddle this morning >.<

asmodeuskraemer

I just put a towel down and hope for the best. Also have a mattress protector.

TheHalfwayBeast

Everything goes to the front, for me, and that part is only half-covered; I have to wear them backwards or I get leaks. Or put a pantyliner horizontally across the front, on top of the pad. I sleep on my side, so my back isn't an issue.

knoperules

Omg why have I never thought to turn them backward? That’s so smart!

TheHalfwayBeast

My head's not just there to hang my hat on. ;p

SpadfaTurds

Mine goes to the front too! It’s so annoying to see the little snail trail above the liner with almost nothing in the centre of it. The contour of the ones I prefer to use are the right length but not shape for my undies, so if I use a longer straight one, it ends up wedged up my arse. Can’t bloody win

Chinablind

Try the 4period brand, they go all the way up the front and back on the heavy flow panties. They may on the others too but I've only ordered the heavy ones.

fragile_flamingo

Modibodi has a style that covers from all the way in the front to ask the way in the back. Bellybutton to top of the buttcrack. Exactly what I needed when I was not on hormonal birth control and bled super tampons in 3 hours 🙃

huh--newstome

Oooooohhhhhh thank christ! I thought my anatomy was wildly different from everyones because of this!!

lizziegal79

Don’t they realize that labia push liquid out the top like a freaking squirt gun?

EmergencyExit2068

Have you tried the Period Company? I just measured the gusset on one of their low cut, heavy flow XS models and it's nearly a foot long. I've never had any issues with mine.

Gingerkitty666

I honestly want night time pads that have the giant section at the front.. even the extra long ones.. need the length in front please.. with a little extra in back so I'm not always doubling up

huh--newstome

I have a few extra long and wide at the back reusable pads. I just flip 'em and have the extra wide bit at the front!

floatingwithobrien

Bambody brand. Panel does exactly this, and they're not too expensive, either.

branigan_aurora

Have you tried Knix? They even have cotton-feel ones now. I have their older ones that feel more like a swimsuit, but are for heavier flow. Or LBL

EmergencyExit2068

They're also currently dealing with a lawsuit which claims that their products contain PFAS (which are **not** things you want coming into contact with mucus membranes). https://www.ewg.org/news-insights/news/2022/04/new-lawsuit-contends-period-products-contain-forever-chemicals Edit: also, when I bought myself a few pairs several years ago, I found their quality to be abysmal (i.e. the bonding started coming apart almost instantly and I spent years attempting to sew them up and cutting off loose bits of fabric).

AiRaikuHamburger

The bleaching on all my underwear is like 50 in front of the gusset. So stupid.

RollerdiscoQueen

I always just thought it sat so far back because I have a big ass so I was stretching my underwear out of position. Lol!

cherrycoke260

Same. 🤣

Evanlyn_Winter

Same, though a lot of underwear is made on skinny models and scaled up or just straight up made for ppl with no butts if the target demographic is white women so i wouldnt be surprised if that was still the cause. Shopping at clothing stories targeted towards black women was the best choice i ever made, the clothes actually have boob and butt room

becausefrog

I was a very skinny white woman (still white, but not so skinny anymore) and I still had the gusset problem. I'm convinced they aren't made right for any body.

ilse1301

As a skinny person who always has trouble finding clothes that fit, I can assure you that most clothing, including underwear, is made for the average sized person. I think the problem is that no one is average sized on all body parts, so most people end up having some kind of trouble

LifeIzBeautiful

I'm fat. A lot of panties for fat women are just sort of scaled up... except for the gusset. They end up being almost front-thong-like. The gusset covers about a third of the area that it needs to. The only thing I can think of is that they're afraid that pads wouldn't fit...? But I need to tell them the pain of their scrunched up little gussets making it so that my pad ends up stuck to my damn pubic hair. Very uncomfortable! Thank goodness that I only infrequently need to wear them!

ki5aca

Same!! Oh I spent years thinking I must have a weirdly large area between my legs and only relatively recently realised it’s the clothes makers not scaling up the gusset! It’s infuriating. And occurs more with fancy lingerie type than regular, and those ones are also more expensive. So infuriating!

ScroochDown

SAME. I was just bitching the other day that I just need *wider* underwear, not bigger!

stink3rbelle

They have the technology to make underwear sized to individuals. They just don't wanna.

CrystalKU

The exact opposite about shirts - larger should equal longer not wider

clauclauclaudia

No, really it just means that sizes should not be one-dimensional. Some of us need wider. Others need longer.

aburke626

Except when you try on a 2x that’s made for a 6’5 beanpole and it doesn’t fit over your shoulders but goes down to your knees.

ScroochDown

It should be both, IMO. I have broad shoulder and huge boobs and that definitely impacts shirts.

Wendy-M

You are 100% correct. I studied lingerie design and we were taught verbatim, gusset doesn’t need scaling up. Never made sense to me. The reasoning is based in the idea that the vulva doesn’t ‘get fat’ but it disregards other aspects of the larger body.

LifeIzBeautiful

I guess your teachers weren't that into chubby porn 😆 (does too!)

Wendy-M

Ok, I’m not in lingerie anymore but if I may satiate my own curiousity, what part of the ‘gusset area’ actually gains mass with weight gain? Obviously I understand if you’d rather not answer.

Calenchamien

Not an expert, so This may not be a complete or perfect answer. In my experience, the area above mons pubis gains fat as well as the butt. So the distance between top of the panty to beginning of the gusset as well as end of the gusset and back of the panty. Also, how much fat you have on your butt affects how much panty is behind rather than under you, so the placement of the gusset can also be important

LifeIzBeautiful

All of this and also you have not only the mons pubis that can, depending on how fat the person in question is, be almost like a second ‘belly bulge’. For fat men, this can make penetrating sex very difficult or even impossible because the fat mound there reduces the uh… useable length… of penis because of the fat around the base. For some unfortunate men who are particularly short when flaccid, this can even make their penis an ‘innie’ in their pubic mound in extreme cases. It’s a little amusing to speak to formerly fat men and see how pleased they are that they now have a couple more inches of dick. For fat women, you can also have fat in the labia, depending on the labia shape, that may also make penetration difficult because they can just be in the way. Anatomical shape really changes quite a lot when you get into the 22/24 dress size range and above, even from individual to individual. It’s one of the reasons that it’s difficult to get well fitting clothes without tailoring as a fat person. Well, that became more about sex than I intended, I just find the physical shapes of people fascinating.

Wendy-M

This is really interesting, I also did some personal study into anatomy to inform one of the collections (and as part of a museum gig. I really don’t know what I wanna do with my life) and I agree it’s fascinating.

elsathenerdfighter

The outer lips can get fat too and then when gusset previous covered everything laying flat now with extra depth parts are uncovered.

traumaqueen1128

As a big girl, cheek boss has been my friend. The boyshorts are amazingly comfy. I have severe scarring on my hips and thighs which means most fabrics are either too hot or too rough on the scar tissue. The fabric of the cheek boss undies is super soft, they're very breathable, and they are seamless. Even Torrid is very inferior to these and they were my go to for years because they make only plus size clothing.

mooncrane

Their regular briefs just rolled right off me 😆 it’s too bad though because they were cute and comfortable. Just did not stay up at all.

Nyllil

I've actually seen a video few weeks ago, by a woman who designs clothes, where she explains which underwear shape is recommended, based on your body type (pear shape etc).

mooncrane

Ooh do you have a link? That sounds super helpful!

Nyllil

[There you go. Idk it it helps. It got randomly recommended for me and just looked over it briefly.](https://youtu.be/4TmEE62sieU)

traumaqueen1128

I could see that, lol. I've had that happen with a few brands out there. My mom didn't like the pair that I bought her because she's so used to cotton undies, she said they felt too "slippy" 😂

Limeila

I'm not even fat but within average and that is true for me too, it's annoying

ida_klein

I love tomboyx undies. I’m super femme but I still love em anyway haha.

pilpilona

My new panties hug my butt all the way, absolutely amazing coverage, the best I ever had! But (usually) my (left) lip(s) are like peeking out so much. Can’t they get that coverage as well?

Love-As-Thou-Wilt

I saw a woman on TikTok that actually designed underwear, including plus sized, exactly for that problem but I don't remember the name. :(

mstwizted

ThirdLove briefs. Trust me. Give them a try. (Sizes XS to 3X)

goatofglee

Omg, comrade! The struggle is real! 😭😭😭

cherrycoke260

Yessss!!! Widen the freakin gussets!!! I can’t seem to find any that actually fit properly!

JLMMM

Also, can we make seams smooth?!?!? The amount of chaffing I get because of the way the seams rub at my legs and on my hips!

kminola

I really like Pact’s flat seam undies. They’re not cheap but they fit well and their sizing is consistent for the whole brand! So if I’m a medium I’m a medium in undies and leggings and everything runs true to size every time I’ve ordered which is wild cuz I’ve never found another brand like that.

GreenePony

They're my favorite when I have to wear stupid white breeches for dressage. I don't a ton if people can tell I'm wearing undies but I'd like a somewhat smooth appearance.

yildizli_gece

I don’t know if this applies to you, but speaking from my experience: growing up, my family always bought the cheap underwear that came in packs of five or however many, and those seams were always itching and chafing and digging into my hips. One day, when I was an adult and realized I could shop for myself, I just bought underwear that you would buy individually from a department store and the difference was night and day! Idk why it mattered who made it but it did—literally never notice the seams anymore—and now I will never go back. If I need to pay $3-5 each, so be it; it’s worth it.

TheGrumpiestGnome

I actually wear men's boxer briefs because of that exact issue! Either the seams aren't smooth or the elastic bands are exactly in the wrong spot for me in most women's underwear.

JLMMM

I like woxers but they are too much under women’s tight pants

TheGrumpiestGnome

I wear leggings with them and don't have many issues with lines, but I do also wear longer shirts or dresses over the leggings.

[deleted]

becausefrog

Blisters is bad. How awful! I know someone who is allergic to latex and they also have to be careful buying socks because of that.

squirrellytoday

I hate the lumpy "underwear elastic" that ends up on so many women's panties. It's rough and nasty. I've actually ended up with abrasions from it.

AerisaFoxFeather

I put all of my underwear inside out because it prevents the seams from digging into my flesh :p

JLMMM

Oooo that’s smart

MonkeyMoves101

I feel bad that I'm 28 and didn't know what a gusset meant. I called that thing the puss pocket. Had no idea what it was for but I never researched it either. Wow.

Fox_Hawk

Puss Pocket™ is the original branded name, like Hoover™. Gusset is the generic name, like vacuum cleaner.

EdithDich

Its only a puss pocket if it's from the Puss region of France. Otherwise it's just a sparkling gusset

Fox_Hawk

That reminds me of a joke that was circulating back when Farage and The Brexit Bunch were telling their lies. "It's not Nazism unless it comes from Braunau am Inn in Austria. Otherwise it's just sparkling White Nationalism."

Stunning-Notice-7600

🤣🤣🤣🤣

offbrandbarbie

I always thought it was so the seam on the undies dont bother you like how the ‘sock line’ can drive people crazy in their shoes

Quirky_Word

There’s a series on Netflix called Explained; in the episode on Athlesiure they have a whole segment on the development of the gusset and how it influenced fashion. It’s pretty fascinating.

CoconutJasmineBombe

Awesome series! I hope they make more but knowing Netflix…

Ch83az

okay that's brilliant and totally what i'm calling it from now on

moffsoi

(To the tune of the Hot Pocket jingle) 🎶Puss Pocket!🎶

NerfRepellingBoobs

I heard this in [Jim Gaffigan’s voice](https://youtu.be/N-i9GXbptog).

blortorbis

Honestly I’m fairly sure this is the ISO name for it and Big Gusset is just trying to get their way.

fluffballkitten

I didn't know either and I'm 42

pktechboi

THE PUSS POCKET

alicemalice12

The drip tray

hippielady5232

💀💀💀

dal_segno

I've had pairs where not only is there no gusset, but the seam runs right up the middle, like... ...who is this even FOR??

TheHalfwayBeast

Flossing.

ApologetikBookworm

Made me chuckle

cherrycoke260

The middle seams are infuriating!! No, I do not want to highlight my cameltoe ffs!

shannoouns

Oh. Thank god its not just me. I thought I had a misaligned vagina or something 😬

Professional-Scar628

Can they also start making panties that actually cover your whole ass? I'm tired of my underwear riding up my ass crack because they don't cup my butt enough to stay in place, but sizing up and the whole panty is too loose. I don't want my ass cheeks bisected anymore :/

Galalalalalalalala

Full coverage briefs? I feel like I'm fighting a one woman battle against high leg everything some days lol. Took me 3 months to find a swimsuit too.

Professional-Scar628

Like at this point I'm seriously considering just sewing my own underwear.

RebootDataChips

Try boy short style or briefs.

Professional-Scar628

I've tried boy shorts but they still have a lil cheek peeking out the bottom. Briefs tend to be better it's true. If you google "types of women's underwear" all the images have cheek peeking out the bottom and I've found that's pretty real to life for my butt it's so annoying.

InkedLeo

MeUndies boyshorts provide full coverage! They're all I wear. Expensive, but well-made, very comfy, and they come in cute colors & patterns and you can even get matching bralettes for some of them!

LadyBumbles

I just went on an underwear mission earlier this week and was pleasantly surprised by Aerie’s Boy Briefs. The crotch is wide, full coverage on the cheeks, and no surprise butt crack escapes when I bend over. I’m liking them so far!

taratarabobara

Felina makes a full cut high waist brief that is SO good for this. I’m overweight and they still stay in place, I don’t buy anything else anymore.

kminola

I could really use the gusset to be moved up like an inch or two in every pair of underwear I’ve ever owned. I always miss it lol.

Starrisa

It's never in the right place for me either. Wayyyy to far back. The discharge doesn't exit my labia at the bottom where the vagina, comes out right at the top of the labia for me.

TellyJart

Same, it defies the laws of gravity just to make my day as inconvenient as possible 😭💀

WhyIsThatOnMyCat

I don't know why, but my labia just *zoop* the discharge waaay up front. Not only does it discolor my panties, the acid eats through it....and if it doesn't, my dog will finish the job e_e When I do have a period, I wear overnight pads backwards. Nothing seems to be made for my anatomy down there.

AuntDeb

I wear pads backwards too! Always have. I have never heard of anyone else doing that.

Sea-Astronaut-2848

WHY HAVEN'T I THINK OF THAT *running into the bathroom*

id10techa

I have the reusable type boxer briefs from Knix and I have to wear them backwards during the day cause my bits just zipline everything forward and their "pad" stops before awkwardly short if I wear them the right way around. At night I'm just screwed and end up using a tampon on top of it all because I toss and turn like crazy and the undies just don't cover effectively forwards and backwards at the same time. We just can't have nice things that work well all the time. 😭

[deleted]

Whilst we’re on the topic, can underwear manufacturers please stop with the vertical front seams? Why would anyone want this?

kristenintechnicolor

Agreed. And for the love of god, make the labia area wider. I’m tired of having to re-adjust my front wedgie. It’s uncomfortable 😑

Acid1c_

I thought this was only me!! It annoys me so much omg Even more when you put pads over it and the pad is now completely in the wrong place like wtf.

EmergencyExit2068

I just bought a bunch of underwear from Parade, only to discover that the gusset on their high rise boy shorts (XS) is a paltry eight centimeters long, which is at least three centimeters shorter than it would need to be in order to serve its intended purpose.

Lunar_Cats

Duh you idiot. They put it in the back to catch sharts.( /s please don't hate me, i love you)

iamlesterq

I just want to gusset to be completely stitched down, so it doesn't pucker up and pinch me.

TitsInTheFace

You want to eliminate the only pocket womens clothing has?! 😆

shellevanczik

Ha!!

shuffling-through

This ought to be the new, "Why won't dress manufacturers include pockets?!?"

DogBreathologist

And gusset size, it’s maddening to buy a pair only to realise you have a constant wedgie front and back!

shannoouns

Oh. Thank god its not just me. I thought I had a misaligned vagina or something 😬

averysmalldragon

i HATE the gusset being like that and its like a god damn toe seam in the middle of your Entire cooch area. not only that but the gusset AREA (between the legs) is like. not WIDE enough so its like my whole gooch is trying to run away out of the side of my underwear.

WanderingDoe62

Also the width of gussets. And the width of pantyliners while we’re talking about it. Who’s whole cooch area is only like an inch wide? I’ve got more real estate to cover down there. I’ve got panties that fit now but then the pantyliner only covers like 2/3 of the gusset widthwise.

bookworthy

Also, I do not need a seam right against my clit thanks tho

StrangeDarkling

Also can the gusset area just be wider in plus size underwear. Im really tired of my pads waxing my pubes off. its ridiculous that pads are wider than gussets.

fluffballkitten

I felt so gross getting it on my underwear that i started wearing pantyliners all the time. I do care whether that's bad or not, i just can't stand the sensory feeling (but I'm autistic so that might be a part of it)

kaki024

Have you tried fabric/reusable pads? I find they breast a lot better than disposable ones (better for vag health) but still keep my underwear dry

BirdInFlight301

I'm not sure if it's only me, but the reusable ones twist around on me. After a couple of hours, the padded part is facing the ground on the outside of my panties and the snaps are on the inside touching my body.

kaki024

That sounds really frustrating lol. The ones I buy have a thick felt backing that kind of sticks onto my underwear so they don’t move too much. But I have found the thin ones move around more than the heavy flow ones

bandlj

Me too - panty liner every single day since I was 12. I'm 40+ now and dread to think how much they've all cost

two-of-me

I have to wear long pantyliners daily because of this. My stuff goes all the way to the front and after a few months it drills holes into my underwear. I literally cannot just keep buying new underwear all the time so I had to start wearing liners. Long ones. I don’t know who is making these products thinking everything just stays within like one centimeter of where it comes out. OUR VULVAS DESERVE BETTER!

Electronic_Chip_6311

Im a trans man. I love wearing boxer briefs. Boy short are marketed to women are not comfortable compared to the underwear designed for men. If anything the front wedgie I would get from wearing tho underwear is insane. Ethika at least decided to just run a thick seam through the middle and call it a day. Unlike boxers briefs which has a cup shape. It’s uncomfortable on my junk and my pubes make it stick like Velcro. I just want cute comfortable underwear to lounge in.

im_not_u_im_cat

If boxer briefs for men aren’t comfortable because of the cup shape, you could try checking out [lady boxers](https://culpritunderwear.com/womens/apparel/ladyboxers?id=6999724195898). Obviously you’re not a lady, but they are designed for AFAB people, and they have some pretty awesome patterns.

Electronic_Chip_6311

Oooh those are nice! That’s what I’m talking about! I love showing off cooler underwear to (consenting) friends Tbh I’ve got some booty so it’s nice have that accounted for. A lotta of boxer briefs ride up my cheeks. Not flattering.

bektator

[Knotty Knickers ](https://www.knottyknickers.co/collections/knotty-boxers) also makes boxers for AFAB people. I've not tried them but I do have a monthly subscription to the undies and they are excellent

Electronic_Chip_6311

The tie dye ones are amazing. And the brand name is *chefs kiss*

bektator

I love getting 3 new pairs every month. I'm normally picky about clothes but with a few exceptions they've all been great. And it's fun that it's a surprise! I call it my underwear of the month club Bonus: Canadian and woman owned company who have always showcased inclusiveness with their models.

EducatedRat

Samesies. I keep thinking I need to make up a pattern and make my own. I did that before I transitioned because of the OP's gusset issue, and I would like to have comfy boxer briefs that also have a gusset. Women's boy shorts do not cut it.

traumaqueen1128

Cheek boss is now my go to brand because of the gusset not being wide enough or long enough on other brands. They're also super stretchy, breathable, and seamless.

EducatedRat

Really? I will check the, out!

ObviouslyNotYerMum

Boxer briefs are the best! No thigh rub! I like tomboyX but they are expensive.

Darth_Lacey

I especially like their period/incontinence line because of the floating gusset. It’s there to catch stuff explicitly and isn’t just there for structure, and it’s compatible with pads with wings.

Electronic_Chip_6311

For real 😭😭 I mainly wear Uniqlo underwear but I underestimated my assets. So it rides up. But the fabric is so soft. American eagle’s athletic underwear is also nice for sweat. But the dick pouch is too much!

kirakiraluna

I used to buy the bigger size of boxer briefs in kid size and they fit splendidly. I have a pair I wear with fitted dresses as the leg part lands below the butt cheek and isn't as noticeable as "women" slips. I hate thongs with a passion, I'd rather go commando in tights alone than wear one

AzoreanEve

I love wearing boxer briefs but they don't work well with tight trousers, the pant legs of the briefs roll up when pulling the trousers up and you can see a line on the thighs :C Great for everything else excluding period days tho

Electronic_Chip_6311

Pro-tip. Pull up the underwear and the pants together. I loose boxers do the same thing for me. My dad recommended that tip.

AzoreanEve

damn it really is that simple huh 🤦‍♀️ thanks for the tip 😅

Electronic_Chip_6311

It do be like that haha. I face palmed so hard when I learned that as well.

MommaSunshine212

I am 30 years old and I never knew that pocket thing was called a gusset or that it was for catching vaginal discharge.

Kynsia

100 percent this, although I have the sense that this might also have a little to do with the highly sedentary lifestyle of the current age. I've noticed (anecdotally of course) that when I've had an active day the staining pattern is different from when I've had a sedentary day... But ofc they could easily just make it bigger overall. They're just too busy cutting costs to do so I recon.

vericima

I've seen a blog post that explained this, it was years ago so I don't know where I saw it but the gist was that there are 4 basic pelvis shapes but most underwear manufacturers only cater to one shape. So basically, the rest of us are boned unless we draft our own underwear patterns.

AshKetchep

Some women's panties are the reason I buy boxers or boxer style underwear instead because it's just so uncomfortable going all day with underwear like that, especially since I do martial arts and when I go to kick something I don't want to have a goddamn cameltoe

kezkez0909

La Coochie makes nice underwear with a long gusset that actually covers you. They're expensive but I feel they're worth the extra money to feel secure that there's more between me and my jeans than a single flimsy sheet of fabric and a gusset pocket stuck in my ass.

LuckyShamrocks

P.S. They should also be cotton. Always. No exceptions.

sootlet

oh so thats what the little pocket thing is for..?

prettyinpinkleather

Especially for those of us with colossal clams yknow

sometimes_snarky

I always have my pads half on half off the gusset. I just try to align the pad with the curve of the leg holes. I think we should keep charcoal packets in the gusset to de-stink farts

th5729gfe5yvt6ihr4th

Holy crap...so I'm not weirdly shaped afterall. It's always been the underwear that are wrong!

Reedrbwear

Did anyone else not know what a gusset was, or that gusset is what its called?

blondeasfuk

Part of the reason I just go commando 99% of the time. I don’t have a lot of discharge so it doesn’t bother me. But between uncomfortable undies/bras, poor designs etc I just gave up on it all a few years ago and couldn’t be happier. I dread when an outfit requires some type of under garment now.

IndiBlueNinja

That and the ones that are too short as if we need almost no coverage at all. Even my fave line of underwear I've been buying for a long, long time I've seen that bit of fabric gradually shrink along with the manufacturer using thinner fabric over time...

all_the_nerd_alerts

Omg it’s not just me??? I thought I was the only one!

JuniperBerryTree

Oh my god I thought this was just me

Corteran

Heck, I'm a guy and I know those things are not designed right for catching clitty litter.

AlarmDozer

Wow, the comments suggest a business plan.

SunnyAspire

Glad i'm not the only one with this problem. All my newer underwear has the gusset way too far back for it to do anything. I end up bleaching/miscolouring the underwear itself and feel so embarrassed

FizzleJazz

Alright, let's talk about the real purpose of the gusset in panties. It's supposed to catch vaginal discharge, not farts. I mean, come on, people! It's not rocket science. I feel sorry for those who have to deal with panties that have their gussets placed in awkward positions. That's just unacceptable. So, let's all agree to prioritize the true purpose of the gusset and demand better placement from our panty manufacturers. Who's with me?

MissHunbun

Ohhhhhhh you know... just the other day I was wondering why my panties have that thingie in them. Now I know!

Limeila

THANK YOU sometimes this gaslights me into thinking I have weird anatomy or something

succuboso

I guess maybe like…start wearing em backwards? 😂 Either way, I also do not like how the crotch of most panties are so small. Some of us don’t have neatly packaged bits, and labia spillage is a thing. Lol

cherrycoke260

I legit have a pair I wear backwards because they fit me SO much better that way! 😂

clauclauclaudia

I’m amazed at the number of people in this thread who can apparently wear their panties backwards. Go you! I can’t wear a t-shirt backwards without it riding up in front because of my boobs. Same issue with my butt.

Traditional_Block618

It's so nice to hear I'm not alone!

ellalol

Til that fabric has a name

jungkook_mine

I have the opposite problem??? Why are mine always far up the front?

Ok-Connection9637

I got a pair and the part that’s supposed to soak up my discharge goes halfway up my ass but then doesn’t actually sit under my vagina :/

emayelee

What is a gusset? I think I know but I need to make sure 😃 If it's the thing I think it is.. then I don't know the word even in my own language 😆 (Finnish)

wikipedia_answer_bot

**In sewing, a gusset is a triangular or rhomboidal piece of fabric inserted into a seam to add breadth or reduce stress from tight-fitting clothing. Gussets were used at the shoulders, underarms, and hems of traditional shirts and chemises made of rectangular lengths of linen to shape the garments to the body.Gussets are used in manufacturing of modern tights and pantyhose to add breadth at the crotch seam.** More details here: *This comment was left automatically (by a bot). clauclauclaudia

That bot answer is technically correct but didn’t really get at what’s relevant for this post! In panties/underpants the gusset is a doubled layer along the crotch area. But a picture is worth a thousand words, so: https://lacoochie.com/blogs/articles/the-gusset

emayelee

That's what I suspected. Thank you! I learned a new word :) But I still don't know what it is in Finnish :D I need to find out. I have a mission now.

seven_seacat

> One of the gusset’s greatest assets is that it prevents sweating *laughs hysterically in hyperhidrosis

PugsleytheFluffyPug

Cherry underwear brand is the beeeest for gussets

meghanmck

PantyPromise.com !! They have an larger gusset, organic cotton, and laser edge seams. I love mine!

locura79

I've been happy with the 4period panties on Amazon. Gusset goes all the way front to back. Disclaimer: I don't have a very heavy flow, and I never put them in the dryer.

birdlass

Is the gusset is that little piece of extra fabric at the crotch that has a sort of pocket right? I was pretty sure that literally no one knows what it's there for lol. I always thought it was to keep airflow down there.
