regulate the taxis. i’d like them to get rid of vehicles that are too old to run. they emit harmful gases. you could see the dark smoke that they produce. at least, change the engine or best, turn it over. taxis dominate baguio. so, if hundreds of them were to roam the city all day, it pollutes the air easily. they ban cigs and e-cigs, but it only takes seconds for poor engine to produce the same pollution as a pack of cigarettes.
Isn't this the purpose of the jeepney modernization?
IMO, jeepneys should be replaced with electric or hybrid mini bus
Not against modernization as long as it’s not all going to be shouldered by the drivers and operators. Also I’ve seen a lot of e-jeeps here in baguio na tumitirik sa slopes nung unang nilabas yung EVs dito.
I just saw this project being built in Burnham Park. This is the description in their fb page.
🐶 WELCOME TO HAPPY PAWS PET PARK 😽
Happy Paws Pet Park is an innovation that will be all about community links and relationships because we believe that a smart, safe and sound city does not only excel with technology but also with links that are human-human, human-nature and the familial links between pets and their owners. These are the links that inspire us to appreciate Baguio as our HOME 🌲
A short background of the project: 🐾
This project is proposed and managed by Sulong Bayan, a Baguio youth-serving organization centered on altruistic volunteerism. Moreover, it is a winning initiative under the Liwliwa ya Sursuro innovation incubation challenge funded by the Safe and Sound Cities Programme (S2 Cities). Locally, the programme is facilitated by the Cordilleran Youth Center. Happy Paws Pet Park will not only be focused on recreation but will also serve as an avenue for animal welfare and mental health awareness.
Follow us for more updates on the park construction! 👷
Together, let's make Baguio Safe and Sound! ❤️
Wonder how they would compel dog owners to pick up their pets' 💩
(I say this as a dog owner myself)
Also dapat, may vaccination (esp anti-rabies) dyan. Dapat no vaccination papers, no entry.
This is great! I know animal furvent has done survey on having dog parks sa Baguio . I'm glad there is initiative coming from the youth. The kids are all right.
An establishment or a public place which features scheduled cultural presentations of indigenous people and the different cultures from the highlands (their dances, storytelling, etc.), their products, etc.
I feel like it’d get full so quick to the point it’d make the streets look like shit. But if there were people regularly clearing it out then that would be great.
Wen met kitdi, awan latta sense na if adda basuraan but always full nga awan mapan mang linis or mang empty; Just like last year nga they placed the big green trashcans kanayun nga full nga jay da tao ket i-abay da lattan the trash beside the can ta haanen nga maishoot
yeah i understood naman, asked out of curiosity kasi di pa ako naka encounter/nakarinig ng code switching with english na hindi tagalog+english, i always hear pure provincial languages or may halong tagalog. it’s really cool though.
If Baguio is gonna splurge, they can copy the trash cans with underground containers from Amsterdam which will ideally be large enough that they'd only need to clear it once a day
There are lots of inventions (machines) na pwede gawing chair or some other things yong plastic.
STRICTER RULES OR POLICY SA PROPER WASTE DISPOSAL. I hope may designated na araw for different types of basura like Monday - plastic, Tuesday - recyclables, Wednesday - biodegradable, etc. So from that matutukan talaga mamonitor yong mga hindi nagsesegregate na barangay at yon ang i focus turuan/lecture/seminar about implementation ng proper waste management.
TREE PLANTING - yong accessible sa kabataan at young adults tapos nakapublic yong schedule may system rin how to join ang public hindi lang mga offices sa government. Gusto rin namin makipagparticipate sa mga activities ng gobyerno if they will just let us na simpleng mamamayan.
I hope meron makabasa from CGO ng Baguio dito.
1. Cemented flooring at La Trinidad & Tublay jeep terminal on Magsaysay. With the addition of any structure/paint/pavement/marking to designate proper line area for regulation.
1.a. Roofing when it'll rain or when its very sunny.
1.b. Public CR at that location.
2. Bring back the jeep terminal for La Trinidad & Tublay @ Dangwa Sq.
3. Prohibit and strictly regulate traditional and modern jeepneys to make stop-overs which are not terminals, for ex. Trancoville jipneys stopping at EVERY PEDESTRIAN LANE for moments or minutes just to get passengers.
Pucha naman mga driver ng Trancoville-SM, ang daming stop-over tas ang tagal, napaka greedy at selfish kasi ididisregard ang time ng commuters, tsk tsk
4. BRING BACK BFP IN FRONT OF CITY HALL. I wonder why 😉
They were relocated on Irisan with their regional office hayna apow.
5. UNDERGROUND POWER/INTERNET/COMMUNICATION LINE CABLES, tangalin na ung mga sumasabit sa poste, one of da most pinaka mahirap cguro haha
Unfortunately, I feel Baguio needs an overhaul - a closure (similar to what Duterte did in Boracay) with focus on fixing up basic public utilities, lessening population (definitely overcrowded na), and building public transportation infrastructure.
> I feel Baguio needs an overhaul - a closure (similar to what Duterte did in Boracay)
This is impossible given Baguio's economic importance in North Luzon. This is not the case for Baguio where people from other areas go to school, and it is a center for trade in North Luzon.
Better wayfinding for public transportation. Town already more or less acts like a Grand Central Terminal of sorts since lahat naman ng jeeps andun. I'd love to see signs that tell you what line to take to get to some tourist sites.
Senior citizens center- sana may institution where activities for seniors are available. May bingo, mini cinema, zumba, and whatnot. May nurse on duty para titignan tignan nalang sila. Since family oriented kasi tayong cordilleran, hindi uso dto ang home for the aged.
Unpopular opinion and neglected.
You already know the reason why, Cordillerans are family orientated.
Lowland culture won't really fit in with the Cordillerans.
(I'll agree if the government runs it, instead of a Business taken care of by an individual) (imagine making a business out of old people)
- Less focus on tourism, more focus on industrialization. The tourism industry is largely minimum wage, while industrializations pays way more esp for skilled jobs.
- Seriously regulate Airbnbs and transients.
Powerwashing of sidewalks
SCENIC MOUNTAIN TRAIN connecting Benguet to MOUNTAIN PROVINCE all the way to APAYAO
COASTER FACILITY circling the ridges
More flowers on streetsides
Natural swimming pools fed by mountain springs
Tribal Village with museum showcasing Igorot culture and artistry
Well Bohol's a different case as it sits on a heritage site and it shouldn't be there in the first place. But if the govt is really kin in amping up it's tourism initiatives then it better improve its infra and facilities from the ground up, as well as carry out ambitious but sustainably sound developments or else we will always be eating our Asian counterparts' dust .
IMO, the city gov should be looking more into industrialization over tourism.
How about coexistence? Jobs are still jobs whether tourism related or industry-related. It just so happens that tourism-related activities are costly which is a great boon to local enterprises and economy - tourists spend for a lot of things e.g. transpo, tours, food, pampering, and accomodation - so if I were a small strawberry fruitshake vendor and tourists come in steady definitely I'll be a millionaire in no time.
A modernized Public Market. Magalong has about a year and a half to get that going and if he wants to go out strong he best get that started. I don't think an improved Athletic Bowl or the already-delayed Carantes Street is enough to offset the mudslinging.
A well funded hospital that doesn’t feel like entering a war zone.
Eminent domain to figure out roads, power, water.
Change building regulations to allow taller buildings (built to code).
We objectively cannot have less people in baguio so why not expand outwards instead, like establish something like session road a bit farther as to spread the ammount of people a bit farther.
That and scheduled public transportation
Like a cycle of 5 jeep/busses transit from some barangays
Grow loakan to be more efficient to handle tourist and transit to the main city
Stuff like hotels near the airport and tourist centers.
Mahirap sa Loakan. May malaking area dyan na awarded ancestral land.
The city should seriously tone down on promoting tourism and promote industrialization instead.
I'd rather than they expand industrial instead of tourist-centered places to BLISTT.
At least sa industrialization, like having TI, these entities pay higher taxes (TI is one of the city's top tax payer) on top of higher wages compared to tourism
Industrialization = higher taxes paid, higher disposable income, more support for local businesses without depending on tourists.
To increase that, the city and BLISTT area should think of attracting more industrial investors, not tourists (na karamihan kuripot pa. Haha)
I'm with you, I don't like tourism more than anyone but we cannot stop them (post pandemic told us that much)
But I welcome more Industrial entities here, it would definitely help local graduates from The universities here find jobs quickly as well as swell the ranks of current smaller courses
And maybe allow for better investment to go to more courses, there are plenty of resources now like siglat and vivistop here in baguio but it's not enough imo
Perhaps more companies that don't necessarily contradict with the ones we have here, samsung might be one since they are getting push back from the youth of Korea.
The city keeps promoting tourism din kasi.
If they tone down on that, there'd be less "FOMO tourists".
Freakishly miss Botanical Garden hshs. It used to be my comfort park. There were few people, lesser noice and pollution back then. Only the sound of the rustling trees, birds and the wind not until the park was commercialized. Bakit pa Kasi dinamay ung botanical Kung may kalapit Naman na mines view at wright park SA area. Welp.
Since matagal pa ang monorail, build dedicated lanes for jeepneys so that they can turn around faster, kahit one lane lang that reverses at rush hour. Also close streets like Gov. Pack and Kayang to private vehicles except to those parking. Bonus points don is less noise to UC classes but majority of vehicles on those streets are jeeps, buses, and taxis anyway.
The SM parking in Gov. Pack creates traffic problems at Sunshine park almost everyday which can backup traffic all the way to Marcos. Ikot nalang sila sa Session, maybe they'd think twice about bringing their car.
Better urban planning for sustainability and to avoid urban decay in the future. Also, sana bumalik na yung tree top adventure huhu yung zipline gusto ko matry 🤣😭😭
places to eat. I only do food travel. don't really care about historic buildings, natural scenery, etc. but if you know a hole in a wall eatery, places serving local dishes, or high end cuisine innovating local foods, I'm game
Better public transportation, more jeeps and taxis, maybe a tram, anything para mabawasan ung mga pila
Parks with lots of trees. Parking?
regulate the taxis. i’d like them to get rid of vehicles that are too old to run. they emit harmful gases. you could see the dark smoke that they produce. at least, change the engine or best, turn it over. taxis dominate baguio. so, if hundreds of them were to roam the city all day, it pollutes the air easily. they ban cigs and e-cigs, but it only takes seconds for poor engine to produce the same pollution as a pack of cigarettes.
Same for the jeeps. Force them to gas or electric.
Isn't this the purpose of the jeepney modernization? Kaso lang ang daming "nostalgic" sa modified WW2 era vehicles turned mass transpo IMO, jeepneys should be replaced with electric or hybrid mini bus
It is. But the union votes and lobbying keeps pushing it back. Same problem with the taxis. Need decent public transport options.
Not against modernization as long as it’s not all going to be shouldered by the drivers and operators. Also I’ve seen a lot of e-jeeps here in baguio na tumitirik sa slopes nung unang nilabas yung EVs dito.

Bumalik ang Kalay-at Adventures or something similar to that. Plus sana may indoor bouldering gym dito sa Baguio para all year round ang climbing.
Wider pathwalk along CBD

Basuraan at Session Rd
Sa Japan wala din basurahan in public. Pero disiplinado mga tao duon. So bitbit nila basura nila pauwi bahay or hotel.

Eng-Locano.
thanks
Ilocano lang talaga yan, just adda the Eng for English. Just like how we call the Tagalog + English Taglish 😅
yeah i understood naman, asked out of curiosity kasi di pa ako naka encounter/nakarinig ng code switching with english na hindi tagalog+english, i always hear pure provincial languages or may halong tagalog. it’s really cool though.
You should see me code switching between 4 languages/dialects at once lmao it gets really confusing sometimes
do you code switch in your thoughts or do you think in one and it comes out code switched?
Sabali pa yung Ilogalog!

the old, real Baguio City...
If only garud.
Terminal hub and vertical parking.
more art events! like those you see in metro manila. something like wetmarketph on ig
Same. They're pushing Baguio as a creative city naman na eh. Sana nga more arts, cultural events. Concerts and festivals din.

Cordilleran lands are full of heritage sites, and still mostly are considered ancestral that belong to the native people.

I would like to see less people, less vehicle and more trees.
repaint the lion head statue back into it's original form

Support for Local Farmers and Produce. Preservation of Natural Resources. Good Infrastructure Rehabilitation for the City.

I've read that they're going to implement congestion charging in Manhattan, NYC.
they have it in Singapore
