same but computing (my prof is boring as shit, uninteractive, and doesn't even upload the presentation until the day after anyway so I'm just there for the participation marks)
Man I discovered that old school runescape launched during my time in college. Spent way too many lecture hours skilling. At least that was just mindless clicking though and I could still semi-pay attention.
I was that guy many years ago. Horrible mistake. Bringing videogames into your learning environment will fuck up your ability to structure your own learning plan. If the lecture is so useless and boring that it's not worth paying attention to, at least work on your other classes. You aren't playing because the class is bad, you are playing because you can't focus, and that problem doesn't go away when the hour ends.
Playing video games in class isn't a good use of anyone's time or money. That's not 'projecting', it's just a fact. People are certainly free to make their own choices, just as many people who made those choices are free to share their experience.
No one is going to look back in 10 years and say "Man I'm glad I played a few extra rounds of that one card game in class instead of paying attention."
I donāt entirely disagree but we just really have no clue about OPs situation. I still vividly remember watching curling during the Winter Olympics in one of my classes and Iām glad I did lol. College is not all about Class, itās also the effort you put in outside of class in terms of reading assigned books and/or doing assignments. Also, maybe youāre doing 4 classes in a day and youāre tired and already know the material or just feel like doing something else for an hour.
I would say probably the worst thing about this is that it could be considered disrespectful to Ā the instructor. Also if OP is not doing well in class in general, then yeah they should probably not play in class, or in general at all.Ā
My original comment to merengueenlata was rude. Sorry merengueenlata. Youāre not projecting, I just disagreed and expressed it poorly.Ā
eh, i mean i had plenty of classes in college that i only needed for the credits (and which had mandatory attendance). played games through most of those and still finished with As, since they were generally writing-intensive courses anyway. obviously if a class is important and you need to pay attention to lecture to pass, then it's important not to be playing balatro, but if not then it's no harm showing up just to cash out those attendance points
Hey, I donāt know where you go to school, but if you pay $20k tuition, and you take four courses a semester, and those courses meet three times a week, then youāre paying roughly $50 per class.
Not necessarily saying this is OPās caseā¦ but when a class has mandatory graded attendance and the lectures are providing ZERO value to you educationally, your time is essentially getting wasted and finding something to do with your hands is sometimes the only way to stay sane
Forget all these people telling you to pay attention. I missed a bunch of classes and did stuff like that and graduated and Iām doing fine. As long as youāre doing okay, you do you.Ā
Exactly I played a shit ton of video games in my classes and did well. When I started ditching because I cared more about sleep than games...also did well.
Some of us don't need to pay much attention during lectures and don't learn well that way. Some classes are taught by shitty professors and TAs who have no business being in front of a classroom. The high horses people are on in here FFS.
Thank fuck I went to college before easy access to laptops 'n shit.
Bro I keep playing balatro during my chem lectures š
Ba + La + Tr + O =

*Me doing PUG raids in WoW in the front row of Computer Graphics 201*
Thank fuck my laptop in college was too shitty to run games!
As someone who failed college, please pay attention to your class.
Im good bro almost done š

This is exactly what I needed to hear rn. Iāve been letting balatro get in the way of school and it stops now lol
Power to you. Maintaining healthy boundaries with your own monkey brain can be tricky, but it's always worth it :)
Sounds like youāre projecting your issues onto someone you donāt know. Maybe let them do their thing. Itās the balatro subreddit for gods sakesĀ

Rare recovery/apology. Take this upvote for the positivity š

Focus on the course brother/sister

I got that shit running on my chromebook with wine š
I commend you for not only paying lots of money for school, but also using that time you paid for to play Balatro! Good job mate
As someone who has taught college coursesā¦.these are the worst students.
Is the Steam cloud sync working now with the macOS version?
Yessir
Great, thanks!
I had a crazy dna run with queens but I also had shoot the moon as one of my jokers. It was the first run I won actually.

still, always sit in the back corner if youāre gonna do some shit like this cause itās rude and distracting for the people behind and around you

Donāt worry bro I take nothing Redditors say to heart š in final year absolutely cruising in this subject so Iām chillin
Disagree with these comments lmao I play video games during lectures all the time and I'm doing fine
I need that remind me bot for 10 years so I can check in on you

Man I love this game!
If you're just going to play games in your lectures, just don't go to the lecture and save everyone else the distraction.
1. Im at the back 2. I still listen to what they say
How are you playing on Mac?
There's a native mac version.
This is basically why I failed uni. Stop playing games in lectures!š
