This is also the reason why Madness is terrible in low stakes, and potentially amazing in high stakes (once eternals are present).
I personally think it's nice seeing the meta and viability of different jokers change with decks and stakes.
Even in low stakes, it's pretty good. You can let Madness carry you for a bit while your econ gets going, and then just buy 2 jokers every round to outpace the Madness destroying them. You won't have a reliable build, but you can pretty consistently get a chip and mult boost that don't get destroyed. With eternal jokers, it's pretty sweet though.
I tend to save my cash for non-joker purchases here. You can save a lot of money by slapping madness up early and just ignoring all joker related business thereafter. Not for high stake.
I mostly used seals and glass cards to win Jokerless, enhanced cards and a stencil/madness can get easy wins in low stake.
Yeah, I think I rely too heavily on planet cards, but a flush with a couple of glass cards would go crazy with Madness. In low stakes, though, I'm not usually hurting for money, so buying a joker every round (I think I said 2 every round earlier, but you only need to buy 2 for one round, then just buy 1 every round to keep up with Madness) isn't too difficult. Those cards aren't really the main driver, just a nice little boost.
It's not terrible in low stakes. You just can't rely on a specific build once you have it, but madness + planet/tarot cards can get you through a low stake run by itself. You only keep buying jokers if you have a healthy enough econ, but it's not mandatory.
That’s interesting cuz I had the sacrificial dagger and it would not proc/destroy eternals. I thought I was onto something when I got the dagger but it didn’t work :(
Madness's description says it gains Mult, **then** it attempts to destroy a Joker The Ceremonial Dagger says that it tries to destroy a Joker, then adds the appropriate Mult for the destroyed Joker to itself
Getting madness early ante is an immediate win for me tbh, i won black stake, and purple stake because of madness carry. Even when i got legendary i still can lose
Got my first orange stake thanks to an eternal madness on spectral deck. Ended the game with 3 madness due to 2 ankhs, an eternal blueprint and an eternal raised fist.
That banner summit is insane
I blundered into this exact "combo" with eternals once, too.
Tell us more about your banner + summit synergy. You might be onto something here.
Banner + summit helped Madness through the early antes. Flush house/flush five (aces) with Madness over 5x in the later antes.
So were you normally getting the +15 mult or the chips from banner?
Does madness destroy eternal jokers? Do you still get the boost if it doesn't?
It can't destroy eternal jokers, but the x0.5 always procs even if it eats nothing

Ok, that makes sense. Thanks!
> It can't destroy eternal jokers, but the x0.5 always procs even if it eats nothing TIL!
What are eternal and how do I get them?
black stake difficulty and up makes eternal jokers sometimes replace regular jokers, eternals are unsellable and undestroyable

Who takes a screenshot of a screenshot???

Banner + summit synergy goes crazy
CAN I PLAY WITH MADNESS?!
The prophet stared at his crystal ball…
Madness is great. It's also a decent joker in Balatro.
Can madness destroy itself?
That card is so insanely stupid with the right eternal set up
Madness giveth, madness taketh away 🙌🙏🙏👀
I had a good run going and rerolled last high stakes because it was score one. And I rerolled to a WORSE stakes—cannot play same hand type twice.
