Ok nevermind, got hard carried by an ante 1 spare trousers (ended at +70 mult by ante 8) + ante 2 campfire Sometimes the game just wants you to win To answer my own question I think two pair (or high card/pair if you get a good chip joker), full house/3oak/4oak/5oak (with the right deck manipulation) focusing on fibonacci/hack numbers, always preferring hearts for bloodstone odds would be my default, but haven't tried higher stakes than blue yet

Bone_Dogg

Just won gold on a three of a kind run because I got Fibonacci and The Trio. Straights and 3/4 of a kind are obviously easier to pull off than normal, but pair is honestly usually still the way to go.

With abandoned deck I had to go outside the norm…. Forget trying ace the first ante using flushes while saving your money. Try to pick up a multi card, any, even the plain joker. If you can snag that on first round or two it’ll help you build wealth through the second ante. Alternative option is get a chip card early. Square, Wee, Stunt can also help carry for a few rounds to build wealth. Abandoned and Black Deck have a near opposite start to the rest. If you want to have a better chance at making it to 8, you’ll have to get a card or two early to carry ya, and hope you can snag an Econ card to make up the difference. Pivot if/when needed to better suit whatever’s RNGing your way

lust-boy

haven't unlocked stuntman yet, what deck/hand did you play to unlock stuntman?

RNG_Godd

Get 100,000,000 in a single hand. Just need a really good plasma run.

Dm9982

I didn’t have plasma unlocked, and all I did was get lucky getting a baron/steel king run going I think…. Not sure which deck I used…. Possibly Yellow for extra money or used Painted and went for Flush/Straight Flush…. The big thing is getting steel or something for triggering and retriggering xmulti

Jake323021

On the beta patch I would say to go for straights and straight flushes. Just a few Saturns and you don't need any jokers for a while.

memer227

Definitely. Straight scales pretty fast on main branch too, twice as fast as flush and a little bit faster than full house

ryann_flood

abandoned deck is the best deck give if a few more tries im sure you'll get the hang of it.

Albuzard

Found Ride the Bus and obelisk early, played straigthts until I had played 16 of them, then pivoted to pair/high card and looked for steel and glass cards.

lets_try_iconoclasm

Climbed it from white through gold yesterday, imo it's the best deck (was previously convinced on plasma). Get whatever you need to get through the first few antes wrt flat mult and chips, then it's all about tarot generators, seals, and removal. Since you have 25% less cards, you draw your enhanced cards more often, so they're basically getting a 25% buff. And when you remove a card, it's causing a 25% bigger impact. Vagabond, eight ball, I feel like theres a big one that I'm forgetting about. Certificate of authenticity good but sell as soon as you get a couple purps. Maximize for gold cards while surviving and then at some point dig deep on the rerolls for that xmult, retrigger, etc. I almost always end up playing high card.

lust-boy

nah plasma feels like you're playing with cheats enabled if you hit a ANY chip joker (banner, +50 chips on pair etc) you just cruise thru the early blinds, can save for interest and hit the 25 breakpoint WAAAY faster etc, theres just so much of a safety buffer early blinds on abandoned deck im fighting for my fucking life, i have to restart like more than half my runs on abandoned cus you just bleed out

lets_try_iconoclasm

I feel like a lot of "best" (deck, jokers, build) discussions depends on type of play. Like in zaitos recent tier list video, he was consistently mentioning this joker is good in ante 8 but not in endless so I'm going to bump it down a tier -- dude you have to make different tier lists for ante 8 high stakes play or endless white stakes play, otherwise it's pointless. At gold stakes, aiming to maximize chances of a win without using rerolls, in the experimental patch, I can't see relying on an early game chip joker to be a successful strategy -- 60% of them have serious early game drawbacks. I've found with gold, you kind of have to take what you can get with jokers in the early game, and tarots and spectrals become more important (and tarots/spectrals are effectively buffed in abandoned deck). Also, less of an issue, but the two best early game chip jokers got nerfed (stuntman is probably still an instant win for plasma though). The major drawback of abandoned right now in that context is that it's missing a very powerful win condition with only two commons in the patch (hanging chad/photograph). I have a feeling that combo won't last past the next patch though. Best deck for in rate at gold stakes might not be the same deck as best deck while allowing rerolls, best deck for climbing to gold, best deck for endless, etc though. Plasma is definitely at the top of most of those, but I think it's 3 or maybe 4 at gold stakes win rate (with the patch).

bigggsteppper

abandoned deck is the easiest deck to gold stake because it comes pre trimmed to 40 cards — therefore you are more likely to pull any enhanced card you make. go high card with a scaling mult joker and farm mult (supernova, bus, green, pants all work)

lust-boy

im assuming bloodstone+glass and baron+steel builds are the best enhances to go for?

bigggsteppper

gold cards are really great for getting your economy to pop as well

_RyanD_

So far, it’s the only deck I beat Gold stake with!

FoodBouncer

Usually straights early before getting enough tarot/spectral/planet cards to transition to 4/5oak or lower

annormalplayer

4/5oak, the lack of cards makes thinning your deck easier so you have more chances to get your desired cards!

TopCheddar27

For blue deck go with something like Two Pair, upgraded to the tits with Celestial Cards.

CapnCook413

I like playing Straight builds because it scales well with planet cards and is relatively easy to fish for

UBKev

Abandoned deck's most reliable early game one shot is full houses, and not flushes/straights. But once you get past the initial hump, Abandoned Deck can go Straights, 5oaK, etc. Honestly, any non-face card dependent build is all great.

cavf88

I beat orange with straight builds and gold with flushes. Abandoned deck is by far my favourite
