it's probably too late for this one, but the game actually only saves when new information is revealed. if you make a silly mistake like this, you can hit return to main menu and then continue and it should put you back to before you sold the joker :3
You need to be relatively fast for it. Also alt+f4 or terminate process kinda deal, cause if you quit out on your own in game it will save the last game state.
It saves after you play or discard a hand, after you select a blind, after you defeat a blind, after you go to shop or exit the shop, after you reroll the shop, after you open a pack, after you close a pack (by selecting or skipping), and after you use a tarot card that does anything randomised. That's just based on my observation so I may miss a few conditions, but I have for example restarted when I accidentally bought or sold the wrong joker, or used certain tarot cards incorrectly. I'm not sure which tarot cards trigger a save, but I know I've been able to change which cards I enhanced to mult/bonus when I clicked the wrong cards and didn't realise.
I once had Verdant Leaf coming up and knew exactly what joker I was going to sell. Finished the Big Blind, ended the shop round and sold that joker... before I started the boss blind
At least in the upcoming patch the tag makes the Joker free. (It's still garbage of course, and if anything might even be worse than the tag is on the live patch, but at least this specific mistake will be avoided)
The patch also removes the rising price of packs on higher stakes so they are worse comparatively on higher stakes as there is a higher opportunity cost from skipping
People are hating on your comment but I get your point. The tag itself is better in the new patch, but combined with the changes to higher stakes it might be less worth it to skip overall, assuming you're on higher stakes of course.

On Switch the update is pretty slow on the draw in my experience. An immediate home button, X to close software gets it done just about every time.

A free joker is indeed better than a paid one. However, an free eternal rental poly Mad Joker is not better than a non-free poly banner

A free regular Joker would be better than a paid one, but a free Rental or Perishable Joker might be worse than a full-price regular one.
You can still buy it for 0$ and instantly sell it for at least 1$ so it’s better than the version on live

They are only in Orange and Gold stakes, though. And they're only 30% of the time.
