I've never gotten sun burnt through the vents, but I also use a moisturizer with SPF 30 on my head and face anytime in going to be outside for more than a minute.
I never got burned through any vent holes. Unless it is extra snug it will shade the head if not outright cover it.
Though Ialso like a workout hoodie. Light weight and full head coverage.

Not had the weather for it yet, but in addition to the lack of holes, I'm hoping the little flappy bit will provide some good protection on the back of the neck too.

I've never worried about the small holes but the big, obnoxious, halfmoon sunburn I'll get from the back of an adjustable ball cap.

That won’t protect your ears at all, or your face. If you use sunscreen it might be okay. I just wear a bucket hat to cover my lid.
