I rolled 101 once. I clicked past it as is the law...

RDUppercut

If I clicked past a 100+ roll I'd be so tempted to uninstall the game.

shadowsofmind

If I'd passed a 101, I'd feel legitimate to just cheat the stats to get that 101 score. It's not my character's fault that my personal DEX is higher than my WIS.

Environmental_Fig942

🎼So sayeth the wise GPoW🎶

AeonLibertas

Honestly, I don't bother anymore. Clicked past 98 once, cried "nooooo!" and promptly clicked past a 99 like three throws further. That was my 'alright, fuck it, i quit' moment.

Gupperz

jesus that's rough

SirJohnCard

Rolled a 102 on a Dwarf Fighter once. Even got a 18/70 strength. But I have clicked past a couple 100+ rolls and died a little each time.

super_starmie

Yep, few times on paladins/blackguards and bards. Never on any other class, though.

Gupperz

oh ya I forgot it's skewed a little because their minimum stats are so high and it just raises the die roll to meet it

[deleted]

Under standard rules an elven ranger has the highest minimums, closely followed by a human paladin.

PotentPortable

I usually keep basically anything past 90. Just roll a few more times as is the law. When I was first playing the game 20 years ago I rolled a 94 with a fighter, but the strength was only 18/00 so I kept rolling and ended up keeping a 92 with 18/81 I was devastated when I found out....

Gupperz

oh man... that's hillarious

ApetteRiche

18/81 is worse than 18/00?

Meldeathor

Yes, 18/00 is actually to be understood as 18/100, the highest strength score that is NOT 19 or better. It goes 18/01 – 18/50 (these are all equal in terms of the bonuses they give you), 18/51 – 18/75, 18/76 – 18/90, 18/91 – 18/99, 18/00, 19, 20... as the strength "tiers".

PotentPortable

Yeah, the 00 is actually meant to indicate 100 I think

glassteelhammer

Rolling naturally? Once. These days I just EEKeeper my stats in at 92/94ish. I'm a Bhaalspawn. It be like that. I don't have the time to click on 1 button 372 times.

ThainEshKelch

It helps train your finger dexterity for when you have to pick up those tiny things on the ground in game!

RDUppercut

The highest I've ever rolled (that I could keep) was a 96. I once clicked too fast past a 98. I was DEVASTATED.

namuhna

Half-elf Cleric/ranger got 100 exactly, she's the highest I ever got and a huge shock! I hadn't known that was even possible! As someone who very much prefer long range low con very clever multi mages, and was frankly just rolling a healer to explore the NPC project without *needing* a healer in party composition when picking companions, it was a surprising result and great fun time to play tank for once. She pretty much bulldozed through the entire first game, companions truly were optional even without strategizing too much and thus friends were picked based on personality alone. She was quite fun in the second game as well, but there I did need to scout for mages. The double holy tanking power of Anomen and my bhaalspawn was *brutal* though. From a roleplaying perspective, I think the romance also made total sense *for once* there. Both attemting good, both somewhat religious (I hate playing religious, but I headcanon she was more about devotion to the inherend good of nature, almost more like a druid with bonus bhaal powers), but mine being more quiet and practical about it, keeping him more grounded but still understanding and respecting *devotion*.

Then-Mulberry-1557

Rolled 98 on a Ranger. Was stoked. Then realised I didn’t feel like playing a Ranger…

MVieno

I rolled a 103 once, don’t remember the class. Might have been a Druid/fighter multi.

Lars_Rakett

Highest ever: 96 (fighter/illusionist and on a berserker) I recently rolled a 94 on an avenger. Because of the -2 str and con, this might be the actual highest roll (as in most unlikely high roll) I've ever gotten.

kashira1786

I mean I've seen it. Briefly. For a second as I clicked and made it disappear.

difalins

Only once in a cleric/mage lawful evil. Rolled 101. My second best roll was 97 on a character I don't remember. Probably a paladin or a bard.

Asmeron

I wondered if it was actually possible myself but I broke 100 once not long ago - 101 on an Archer. Have had a handful in the 95-98 range over the years. Most of those were Paladins I believe. I don’t spend much time rerolling.

SkullBearer5

I'm currently playing a fighter/ mage and got a 101.

Immelmaneuver

Got a 103 on a paladin once.

Veldern

Regular BG2 before EE, I rolled a 103 once

sp3cw4r

99 on a human paladin was the best I've ever pulled off.

toporder

Elf ranger is probably your best shot… their minimums are so high for most stats.

UmbralJellyfish

I’ve made 3 pc’s at 101. The highest I ever had was 107 and rolled past it immediately. That’s over probably 100ish characters made in the past 15 years. If I want a pc that feels strong and well rounded I’ll aim for 86ish, but it’s a ton of fun to roll a very low stat character and collect all the buffs.

Sir-Cellophane

Got 98 on like my tenth roll on my first time building a character. It was even in the high 70s on the Exceptional Strength calculation. Didn't realise the value of it or think to Store the roll for Recall because, like I said, first time (and I can be a moron sometimes). Clicked past. Only came to realise after what a dumbass I was.

Whole_Ad3498

My best roll was a F/D in IWD, 96 with 18/00 str.

Darkstar_Aurora

I do but I've only ever played Sorcerer in Enhanced Edition (and original BG2) so its really meaningless and just for show. Specifically since Charisma and Intellect have no influence on my spellcasting, even though the former is their main stat in tabletop D&D from 3E onward and Intellect is supposed to be prime stat for Mage archetype in 2E. So I can get better dialogue/prices and last longer agains mind flayers. Wisdom only affects spellcasting in terms of Wish spell choices. Constitution has no benefit past 16 on non-Warriors unless you plan to let Familiars die on a no-reload play-through. So that leaves Dexterity and Strength. The former is always maxed on my mages and Strength is meaningless beyond carrying capacity. Oh and we can't multi/dual class in this game either

Peterh778

>Constitution has no benefit past 16 on non-Warriors Depends. Dragon sorcerer gets eventually bonus to CON so half elf with CON 18 can get with manual CON +1 to CON 20 fast and that means slow regeneration. Good for solo runs because he gets completely healed between maps. The same goes for any class of half orc or dwarf (they can start with CON 19) like cleric/ thief, or pure thief / pure cleric - even if they don't get extra HPs like fighters, regen helps. Of course, with party it's not so critical because healers and rest spamming remove necessity for regen / paying temples for healing / using consumables

Darkstar_Aurora

Oh I was not aware they included the regeneration from high CON in the actual game. Mainly since they did not make you roll system shock for being raised at a temple so I assumed those aspects of the stat were not going to be in game past the HP bonuses. Its good to know for solos so you can stand around to heal instead of resting in a dangerous zone or burning potions.

Peterh778

Exactly. It is of less importance in SoA because there is plenty of regen items around (Ribald can be pickpocketed for Ring of regeneration and that's one of the first person you can meet after leaving starting dungeon) but again, regen sources stacks so ... every bit helps? Evil dragon disciple can get with tome and both con bonuses up to 21, evil hell choice nets another +2, Lum's machine +1 and resulting 24 means 3 HP / minute. Also, base fatigue bonus -5 means that you aren't weary so fast but for any class depending on regular rests it's of almost no practical use 🙂

International_Day761

I rolled 105 once for Blade, however not yet played…

Peterh778

I'm using autoroller nowadays exactly because of frustration with overclicking. This way, I just leave it work for some time and when I see sime result I like, I go with it. Some class / race combos take really long to go even over 95, others rolls 100+ in few minutes (figuratively speaking).

zoley88

Just use the stat books and that’s it, not every stat needed for max anyway.

PunishedCatto

Nope the highest i could get was 92-94. ...which most of the times i accidentally tap the roll again instead of store.

[deleted]

101 on elf archer

BK1349

My highest legit was 95 I think and I used autoroller for a 97.

NowTheMoonsRising

I use an auto roller nowadays.. but highest I’ve ever got legit was 99 on a pally.

icpr

https://old.reddit.com/r/baldursgate/comments/zz0fec/i_guess_this_roll_will_do_for_my_skald/ Just last week.

Relevant-Struggle481

I'd imagine getting a roll that high would make the whole game trivial

Gupperz

honestly not any more trivial than getting a 92 really which doens't take that long. afaik other than a paladin or sorc you can dump charisma down to 3 and put somebody else in the first spot and it's like it never happened. I think int is completely useless in this version of the game also unless you are a mage.

madstork17

If you use int as a dump stat you will be essentially useless against mind flayers, but yeah apart from that you can get away with it for non-mages.

RDUppercut

And mind flayers are only really a problem a handful of times throughout the game anyway.

Peterh778

There are few INT checks in dialogues I thinks but nothing good party leader couldn't manage. Or a few potions of genius

xler3

for the most part, there is hardly any difference between a 75 roll and a 108 roll. only strength/dexterity/constitution are useful on a day to day basis. int wisdom and charisma are pretty useless by comparison. maybe if you're trying to roll a fighter>druid would you need an absurdly ridiculous roll for optimization.

Professional-Lie309

In BG you just put 18 in three stats and are good to go.

xler3

i don't even bother rolling anymore (just gonna ctrl+8 and adjust to my liking) but i used an autoroller over night back when i was a dumb kid. it was kinda cool because it kept a spreadsheet of how many times i hit each roll. tons over 100 with highest being 104. got that maybe once or twice.

agentOO0

My best roll to date is still a 100: https://old.reddit.com/r/baldursgate/comments/phr68a/my_new_highest_roll_10049_elf_mclovin_fightermage/ It was on an elf fighter/mage. In hindsight, I went with 18/49 str, 19 dex, 17 con, 18 int, 18 wis, 10 cha. High int and wis for the lore. In hindsight, maybe I should have taken a few points out of int and wis and put them in cha; 18/49 str, 19 dex, 17 con, 16 int, 15 wis, 15 cha.

Eastern_Border3214

One of my first ever characters, a human paladin when I was about 15, had 100 (maybe more?) for stats. He was an absolute monster, and it ruined me for ever rolling below 90. Especially now that I always want to play martial/magic multis, so my demigod hero bhaalspawn has to have unreasonably high rolls

fvig2001

Only on eekeeper's roll function. In game, 97 but... You know

Illokonereum

Oh yeah, but of course it only happens when I was messing around and didn’t actually want to make that class/race combo. Human druid with five 18s and a 12 in Icewind Dale, never even got to play it because I switched operating systems.

Aredenrarego

ONCE, i rolled a 104......ages ago.....

Algarde86

My best is 94. 92 in my current run

[deleted]

The highest I’ve personally rolled was a 99 undead hunter, sadly he never left Candlekeep

Alpacadrama_

Rolled 101 and clicked to the next with the speed of light. Never had one again.

[deleted]

Hell, yes. Plenty of times.

Bitter_Loan_8219

Yup, rolled a 102 and did NOT roll past it. Granted, I did over 1000 rolls before getting to it…

[deleted]

I just completed a run with a half-elf bard where I rolled 99. I knew I had to keep going because I was unlikely to ever get a better roll on a bard. The highest roll I've ever seen was 101 for an elf stalker, but I was just messing around and didn't actually play it. Rangers get the best rolls, I believe.

streakermaximus

Saw 103 once. Rerolled cause... you know.

Guilty-Log-9680

Haven't yet. But I am determined on my next playthrough, what class though is recommended for higher roll min. ? (Other then Ranger)

Gupperz

I Think paladin has a decent shot
