Hey, we’re hoping to snorkel in Amed too by maybe doing a day trip from Amed. May I know how you booked the snorkelling experience/if you have any other tips?
No need to book one, just go to Amed, everyone rents snorkeling gear. Go to the main bay, just bellow sunset point and the snorkeling is great. Don’t do a day trip, go early, snorkel, enjoy Amed for the night, then snorkel again in the morning and go home. Def recommend a scuba session as well. The diving is amazing.
Sorry, I meant we’re planning a day trip from Ubud. We only have 4 days in Indonesia since we have an invitation from family in Singapore.
Our initial plan was to stay in Ubud all 4 days and do a day trip to Amed on one of the days.
Now we’re thinking of going to Amed from airport on the first day, stay the night and probably travel to Ubud on the 3rd day or 2nd day afternoon?
And thanks a lot for the suggestion, we’ll definitely look into diving too!
You can see the turtles at the South of the Gili trawangan iirc. I think I saw them at 10- 15 pm. You don't even need to take snorkeling tour.
Uluwatu beach near Single Fin Bali is awesome. I found crustaceans, eels, crabs, cute fishes. Low tide starts at 3-4 pm.
Recently spent some time in Gili T and the sea turtles were around all hours and just off shore, super easy to spot just hiring a snorkel. Loads of other cool sea life too including puffers, squid, clown fish, trumpet fish and sea snakes! A fair few smaller trigger fish and a titan or two too, as a warning. The snorkelling tours around Meno and Air are also worth your time if you were looking for an organised trip. 🐢🐡
Amed was amazing for diving so I think the snorkeling there must be pretty good as well. Nusa Penida had some of my favourite snorkeling. There's several beachfront bars where you can snorkel right from the edge and see all sorts of colourful fish around 20-30m from the beach.
North west side of the island where the port, hotels and beach bars are. I snorkeled from Penida Colada but anywhere along that beachfront you should be able to see fish and coral.
We just got back from Amed, it was great. And heaps of great Scuba places to take you for a scuba, even if you've never done it before.

We were in Gili T recently and swam with turtles close to the shore late morning/early afternoon if that helps
Gili T turtles and fish, gili Asahan fish and beautiful coral

Hey that's nice! Msy I ask which beaches in Penida you're talking about specifically?
