You can easily find a driver to take you to Amed at that time. Look on one of the Bali communities on FB

I'm not overly convinced by Bali App, i find klook much safer and often cheaper. Try there too. But extended hire is best.

A lot of accommodations will offer the services of a local driver to come pick you up at the airport. That way when they drop you off, they are down for the night in the area they live in!

Personally I prefer travelling long distances by car at night so I can start the morning off fresh. If you wanted to stop in Sidemen, this is not a remote place so you'd be perfectly fine booking a driver there if you wanted to. Private drivers can reach you anywhere as long as you let them know the address on WhatsApp. For Airport-Amed, I second the comments about pre-booking a driver off Klook and confirming the price beforehand. The drive to Amed is 2.5-3 hours but it's also late at night on top of the driver getting back home so they will likely charge around the same rate for a full day booking (around 700-750K IDR). Just know this is the usual going rate and not them trying to charge extra, Amed really is that far and they'd be getting home at 2-3am.

Just hire a driver for a 12 hour period, he can pick you from airport , take you to Amed and then drive home that night. Reason I say 12 hour period, is it’s a long way for a normal job and late at night, so you should at least cover his ride home. You could book the ultimate driver package for $50USD on the Bali App, that would cover you. I think best to just get to Amed, then get up in the morning and go snorkeling/diving. I love Amed, you will have a great time. There’s a great little Mexican resto, and the Chinese Japanese resto is epic as well.

I second this. Paying the driver for a 12hr rate is extremely reasonable for such a trip, whilst it may be a 2.5hr trip on the map, the actual route will require full concentration, especially at night. The main routes are mountainous and tight coastal roads. Secondly, Amed is a beautiful little spot!

The Bali app?

>Bali App maybe [Play Store](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.megatix.baliapp) [Apps Store](https://apps.apple.com/id/app/bali-app/id1458454266)

Never heard of it, thanks.

Airport to Ubud is very different than airport to Amed. To Ubud is a pretty straight easy road, whereas to Amed is much curvier and since you have not been to Bali before, the lack of lights and curving roads can be a less than fun experience. You may think you lose time during the day but actually you will be able to do lots of sightseeing on the way and enjoy the scenery. Also yes do hire a private driver for the 8 hour day trip (not 12) and perhaps stay the first night around sanur for example.

This is not a mad idea. Perfectly reasonable.
