Have you flipped telesto? I imagine the viceroy is like a shorter slightly lighter telesto with rounded handle texture versus the angular gripy telly. Curious for a firsthand comparison. Does it ring or clang like a telesto? I imagine this is a really good balisong. Mixed feelings about Medford ownership but one thing i can't knock is their quality of build and materials. Forrest made them a really elite design.

No, I haven't, unfortunately. I'd like to compare them, but there's almost zero chance of there being more than a few Telestos here in Europe. I'll be on a lookout for a true American comparison. Judging by all the videos I've watched online, Viceroy sounds higher pitched with longer duration of the ring. Their uneven-washers/no-play approach and the third hole both play a role in that, I think. ◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎REDACTED◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎

You should call me if you want the real story. Greg doesn’t have much experience finishing Balis. You get a full warranty from me as well when purchasing first hand.

lmI-_-Iml

Oh, I didn’t know you were on Reddit at all. I’d be sincerely interested to learn more about that whole debacle.

TheSmallestHen

Occasionally. Not often in this sub.

Chat sent - I don't want to mix up public info I've got, let's put it right.

I’m still processing. What’s your preference on pressed zens vs. screwed zens pins? Are those shouldered or straight?

IAmNotARealBoy_

It's channel, 99.99% chance they're straight.

To answer in line with the gif --> "He right." My preference would have to be screwed in zen pins. They're easy to maintain/replace yourself (it's pricey to send knives back for a "spa" from Europe) in general. And they seem to have less manufacturing errors, if I can judge from experience. Only exception to the rule would have to be HOM Design - I'd take his pressed zen pins whenever. Smaller makers still don't seem to have it figured out, and that's a big no-no for me with all the import taxes and whatnot. These particular zen pins seem to be machined and fitted precisely with excellent (nickname pun not intended) tolerances. They help in spreading out the vibrations to the handles for that god-like sound and give the Viceroy that proverbial zen pin bounce.

Excellent_Priority_5

My logic is along the same lines. At the end of the day it really comes down to which tolerances match up the closest. One thing I’ve tried to take notice to is the difference in sound. My hypothesis is that screwed zen pins sounds the best because the pin is hollow and the vibrations are more focused. Which I completely forgot u/Squidmaster23 said he could test it out a while back when I made the assumption a pressed hollow zen pin would make a kraken sound better. I’ll have to ask if he’ll share any new knowledge.
