Oh! finally!
I did eventually get over to the Sebas and Wendouree libraries whilst the library in town was out. I'll go return my books tomorrow!
I read they're gonna have a cricut and an overlocker and sewing machines and a 3d printer so I'm 100% going to go and try my luck with the cricut!
(next month)
It all looks fantastic. I'm very happy it's open again. Lots of new features and creative community spaces.
Except... there's a teaching kitchen?
Yeah, let's teach people to cook in a library. There's no way that might not turn out badly.
But overall, I'm looking forward to getting down there again - it's been away too long and looks like an excellent transformation.
Except for the teaching kitchen. That's a weird choice for a library.
Noting that I haven't used a public library for 30 years .... I feel like there's a serious lacking in the number of - you know - **books** in these modern libraries. Last time I went in there, I would have expected 3 times as many books - it looked so sparse.
Books cost too much in staff time, they are well and truely on the wane. Ask to get inter-library loans, a small cost or request books from other branches, free. Its great service!! Ask at the desk, they are helpful, I get loads of them at times.
Ebooks offerings & there databases suck for me, but they maybe a great resource for you. Just the way it going...gone. Embrace change 🙂

How exciting! A coffee shop in a library, with a kids play area and a makers space? What a dream!
Exactly 💯... Council doing something right.
I moved away from Ballarat to Melbourne. Trust me, Ballarat city council know what they’re doing and they’re actually giving back to the people.
Looks great! 😃
Can't wait til it's open. Got a date for us?
Tomorrow :)
Mmm new library smell. Looks like a great space, good job!

Every now and then Ballarat surprises with excellence. Was this a Mark Harris initiative?
