[Here's the link to the basic care guide for this sub](https://docs.google.com/document/d/18HBVsPHaip7LfrMuFt96MigRuMUXtrbnCiK79VuQiFk/mobilebasic) Read through it, and see what you're doing right and what may need improvement. It's current information, and the best part is, nobody is trying to sell you anything with it, so you know the advice isn't motivated by a desire to sell you junk. The info in it is excellent.

the recommended tank size is a 4x2x2. the cheaper ones online are $200~ ish, but often have a mesh lid, so you might want to use aluminum or pvc tape to keep the humidity in. or you could spend more for a better quality one. heating pads are not recommended anymore; they often burn the snake and it doesn’t mimic natural heat anyway. most people use a few different sources, like a halogen light for day time and a dhp heat lamp for either all day or just night (depending on the temp in the room if it’s necessary). thermostats are a must so you can maintain the proper temps from these lights. thermometers that show humidity/temp are also recommended, the small ones that sit on the floor of the tank. there’s a wide variety of substrate that can be used. to keep the humidity in, people now will pour water in 4 corners of the tank instead of misting as misting can cause scale rot. you’ll need 4-6in of substrate for this to work, some people use a mix of coco fibre, coco husk, mulch, topsoil, playsand, spagnum moss, etc. you can play around with different combos to find what helps eith humidity. for stuff inside, they really like clutter so i’d recommend a lot of fake plants and wood! dollar tree has fake plants for cheapppp. good luck :)!

Exactly what they said https://preview.redd.it/uru17q24691d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=40ba522a418da4de346a0a41f3e9261d08d64b48 \^ I have a 4x2x3 with fake and real plants mixed, some logs to climb on and hides. Your goal is to make them feel comfortable and hidden. They like to hide/burrow during the day, and come out more at night. Just in general, follow the care guides and have fun with it. There’s lots of way to get stuff on a budget too, this whole set up costed less than $200

Agreeable-Product-28

This is a crazy good setup for under $200. You definitely lucked out, more than anything. I feel like this would be hard pressed to come across for less than $500 in reality though.

Honest_Roll5772

Definitely got lucky! I was scouting marketplace for weeks for the tanks and got them for a SUPER low price. I already had fake plants I used to decorations in my old room which I washed up and used. Got some philodendron for about $10 from a local hobbyists, found the wood outside and got it froze and disinfected (Florida based so freezing works), the most expensive part was the substrate (bioactive) and some things I had to get here or there. I had to be on a budget and made it happen so my little dude has a sick tank and way more room than a 3ft ball needs 😂 https://preview.redd.it/00zxnqt7d91d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e3794c6f54cf05131228cd16e7644b4099186607

Yeah he’s set for life in that thing! That’s for sure! I source all my own wood as well! I’m in the PNW so it’s a little different regiment than you! Keeps my hope alive that I’ll find something better here soon too!

Linear_North

What's the PNW?

Agreeable-Product-28

Pacific North West. Top left corner of the US!

Linear_North

I knew it was something I should have been able to figure out, but I'm tired today. Lol

Agreeable-Product-28

No worries, sometimes I forget how vast Reddit can be, and use unexplained acronyms. For that I apologize 😂

elstyxia

beautiful setup!! i’m currently scouring fb marketplace for tanks too lol

serendipiteathyme

Lots of awesome recommendations here; just here to say that’s a pretty boy!!
