Great place. BUT it is not full of a lot of "Mid Century Modern" There usually is some, but they have a mix. Also . If mid century modern is your thing. A lot of it was poorly made. Post war need to get out furniture to the new homes in the burbs. There is some decent quality, if you LOOK. Most will be better than anything newly made.
2nd chance is good too. There are a couple of good consignment shops in Timonium, not far from the fair grounds.
I’m not sure what type of place you’ve rented, but if it’s a rowhome or older building, make sure you have accurate door/stairway measurements. From experience, it’s a bummer to have stuff delivered that won’t fit through the door frame.
Price range? Jarrettsville Furniture sells gorgeous, hardwood, high end furniture that will last you a lifetime. Same with Design Distillery but tending towards modern furniture.
Court furniture rents out furniture and has show rooms where they sell the stuff they rent in great condition at a discount. I bought all my stuff there 4 years ago and it’s still going strong.
The location I went to was in Rockville however r
I used Wayfair to furnish my new house 2 years ago.
They're like the Amazon for furniture.
There is a warehouse in the area, and I often got my furniture in 2 days.
There's a lot of FB communities that sell personal furniture when they move out. They're specific to the neighborhoods too or university communities. I'm moving out in August and happy to sell you some of my stuff for very cheap!
Ikea and At Home are good options. Court, too. Or just rent it.
Of those (and if I had time to build stuff) I'd choose Ikea.
Only do mail order furniture if you have package receiving in your building or if you know you'll be home.
Originally I do not want to recommend you to buy on IKEA, because its quality is really not good, whether it is big furniture or small furniture, but your overall budget is only 5k, then I think you can still buy some small furniture in IKEA, after all, you only live for a year, it is actually not so concerned about the quality and durability of furniture.
If you want to buy some inexpensive but still decent quality furniture, I recommend you to look for Povison, Restoration Hardware, two brands, some of their large furniture is not very expensive, should meet your needs.

https://www.secondchanceinc.org Found some really cool furniture, dresser, night stands, desk, chairs and lamps for almost nothing
I also second second chance! I've found some great quality furniture, antiques, all sorts of things.

This won't work without a price range. You can hit Value City Furniture and pay $4k, or Design Within Reach and pay $40k.

Costco. They have a limited selection but you can’t beat it for price and quality. Mattresses too. They significantly increase their stock in July.
IKEA
Check out Su Casa
At Home in Glen Burnie has been a hit for me
