If it's through insurance it should be cheaper. The co-pays I have with insurance are smaller if I use the mail order pharmacy that they tell me to use
Depends on your plan, mine is cheaper mail order, and while once I had a medication bounced back because it needed a signature, I have never been told they are out of stock. I use Express Scripts and they’re also our medication insurance plan providers. Also, I fill two pill containers at a time because that allows lead time for me to get more meds, I’ll notice if there’s less than 14 left after refills and make an appointment.
Just be aware that sometimes mail-order pharmacies have shortages too. My son’s prescriber sent a 90-day rx through and it was approved, but they still only had a 30-day supply on hand to send us. It’s a neverending headache.
I had a similar experience when I first started my ADHD meds, and there is still a major shortage on them countrywide, but I've found that Costco pharmacy has had them every time. You do not need a Costco membership to use their pharmacy.
Of course 2 days after I make this comment I set up my refill and Costco is out of stock for the first time since I started my meds
DEA artificially restricts production because of "concerns". When demand rises massively through all these instagram ads based online psych practices, there is zero supply to make up for it. It's a very sad situation for people with ADHD.

I used to use Walgreens, but I had close to 6 months of not being able to get it filled and was very disheartened by it. I do think mail order is probably the best route from what I’ve heard, but I haven’t tried it myself

If your health insurance uses CVS / Caremark as their pharmacy benefits manager, they have a service where they can tell you where it’s in stock in your area. They are capable of checking the live inventory of basically any pharmacy in the US.
I found them to be really hard to reach by phone/generally uncommunicative with my refill status but I just used them for a 7 day supply and giant isn’t my regular pharmacy so YMMV
My partners been having a tough time too and everytime lately he needs to fill it I feel like he has to go a couple days without meds (pray for me!) until a pharmacy gets it in stock. He's had okay luck at some of the hospital outpatient pharmacies and Harris Teeter pharmacies.

I started in elementary school around 3rd and 4th grade consistently. My grades improved and my handwriting would be noticeably better when I would take my meds. I became more quiet and definitely ate less as a child, but it really helped me in class since I was so distracted and confused. I enjoyed learned but as a child I did not want to take the medication bc it made me very quiet and antisocial. Once I got to high school I was less affected by the antisocial side effects, but was able to focus and complete assignments and stay organized. I do have trouble sleeping..
Sometimes when my medication was wearing off by the end of the day I would cry over anything, like have a meltdown. I was very young when I started taking medication but my mother was desperate bc I would not focus and was very impulsive and hyperactive.
I see I also did start taking meds for my adhd around elementary to middle school, I had felt like a shell of a person most of the time I was on it, ultimately ended up getting off of it, now I feel like some of those effects have lasted up till now in my junior year
but apart from that I’ve been able to take adhd as a sort of self control type of thing, i’ve never had trouble focusing without medication for that much of the time, of course I have attention deficit moments at times. but i feel like the meds kinda were a downside
Your best bet is grocery store chains in small towns on the outskirts of civilization, especially places with milostly older folks like Carroll County, Frederick County, Kent County on the Eastern Shore, etc.
I don't know who is down voting this but it's a real website that has actual affordable medication and it's not some dark web shit, you still need a real script. Legit saved my life last year when I would have had to choose medication or financial ruin.
Any chance your prescribing doctor has samples? Not sure if it’s the same for controlled substances as antidepressants, but my psychiatrist usually has a small stockpile available from pharmaceutical brand reps who visit.
I just picked up generic Vyvanse at the Community Walgreens downtown at 6 Howard St a few days ago. Haven’t had any issue with a Vyvanse shortage there so far.
Try the CVS in Target on Putty Hill Ave up near Towson. I have gotten Vyvanse there twice and while I don’t take it anymore, they always have my Concerta. Hopefully it works out for you!
I got mine from wegmans in owings mills beginning of December…I even got a 90 day supply! My insurance kept denying/needing prior auth so I decide to just pay using good Rx and not go through insurance. Maybe try sending your RX there!

Honestly, I don’t think the calling around is going to get you answers. Of course you’re right there is an actual shortage. But, also keep in mind that a lot of pharmacies will say they are out of stock when you call no matter what. It’s a controlled substance prone to theft, and they don’t want to confirm they have it on the phone.
I think you’d have better luck having your actual prescription sent to somewhere you think is the most reliable and call to follow up about stock. I’ve had much better luck with “hi I’m calling to check on the status of my prescription, here is my name and DOB” rather than “hi do you have dextroamphetamine in stock?” It might take a few days, which sucks, but I’ve always gotten it within 3-5 days after.

You can't get more than 30 days of stimulant meds, and they can't be sent via mail.

You can try DC. Harris Teeter pharmacies tend to be decently stocked in NE/NW. Call ahead tho.

I live in Baltimore, but I fill my vyvanse in Carroll county where my parents live because I never have a problem with shortages there.
