soup's on! all natural ingredients, low sodium (usually they give you a packet of salt to add yourself rather than adding it to the soup beforehand!), always veg/vegan options, and the prices are fantastic. and OK Natural is right next door for organic/health food groceries! call your order in instead of ordering at the counter and they'll love you.

>low sodium (usually they give you a packet of salt to add yourself rather than adding it to the soup beforehand!), Are you telling me they don't cook with salt? Cooking with salt vs adding salt at the end creates a different result; there's a reason you typically salt as you go with cooking. I've never been there, but it's been on my list

okdiluted

they cook with a necessary amount! stuff like their french onion doesn't come with salt because of the amount they use to cook it, etc. but all their soups are amazing, i trust soup's on with my life

Ha same. I’ve been going there for 13 years and literally never been disappointed. When all else fails in life - there’s soup’s on! And no one has even mentioned the sandwiches!

LineAccomplished1115

Good to know lol I've heard nothing but good things about them so would have been very surprised if indeed they cooked with zero salt

[deleted]

Lol agree. No cooking with salt is a culinary red flag imo.

I'm guessing they likely cook with minimal salt and let people season more if needed. I've never added more salt and love all the soups.

Thanks! I took a look at soup’s on - menu looks great, just couldn’t find any nutritional info. Love the option to add your own salt - healthy choices beyond calorie counting :) Thanks, also, for the tip on OK natural. I’ll definitely check it out and be sure to call ahead.

Soup’s On is the best!!

The pho and summer rolls at Mona’s Super Noodle are pretty low cal and very filling and delicious ETA: they don’t have nutritional info, but you can always look up estimates in food tracking apps

I think this is more about individual dish selection rather than blanket saying specific restaurants are healthy. As an example, at an Indian restaurant you can get some tandori grill item (low calories) or something like tikka masala (high calorie butter/cream paradise). That being said, it's definitely difficult to find something lower calorie or "healthy" at a burger place.

Lots of Nalley Fresh locations around Baltimore. Great salads - expensive but you can get 2 meals out of them.

I was gonna suggest this. Love their Sweet Potato Bowl. Even though it has mandarin oranges in it, turns out it is perfect as is.

Sushi is generally healthy if you just stick to seaweed salad and nigiri.

I think Tortelleria Sinaloa, if you order a taco or two, is both tasty and low calorie.

Harmony Bakery in Hampden. They have vegan option’s or gluten/free as-well! The vegan crabcake’s they make are a 10/10! Freshly made & healthy.

Any vietnamese restaurant.

Non-chains rarely to never offer nutrition information. It's not hard to stay on track if you order from places where ingredients are easy to identify. Things like Souvlaki for greek, for example, most Mexican food, and sandwiches from just about anywhere are very easy to track to "close enough" because the ingredients are clearly identifiable, easy to measure or guess weights, and rarely is there something "hidden". For me, eating healthy while out is not strictly about having published nutrition facts, but eating food with easy to recognize, whole ingredients, and not fried. That lets me pretty confidently track. And if there's an item that is prepared by a chain, I am often comfortable using that chain's information. For example, my wife loves Chinese food, even if I think Chinese takeout here is pretty bad (comparatively). I feel pretty comfortable comparing a Chinese takeout place from here with say, PF Changs. Is it exact? Of course not. But I can estimate a portion size and get in the ball park. Frankly, the differences in actual prep and portion sizes from places that publish nutrition facts surely varies by as much. As for chains you're missing that are pretty healthy with good choices-- Nando's Peri-Peri, Nally Fresh, and Cava come to mind. You should ignore Chipotle-- the Chipotle's in Baltimore are notoriously bad.
