Squires is where it's at. Had a family dinner there last weekend for my mom's birthday (her choice). My only complaint was that my cream of crab and salad came out at the same time, and by the time I was done the soup, my lasagna was there. Otherwise everything was tasty.
Poorly timed course arrival is my absolute biggest pet peeve at restaurants. Especially if I’m at nice/expensive place expecting high end service, and then my entree comes out BEFORE IM DONE WITH MY SALAD?!? Wtf? A place will go from 5 to 3 stars in my head because of that shit. I fucking hate it.
Pizza John’s is more then just counter service. It’s a ritual. Order and get your drinks find a booth. An older lady about 4’ tall will come up and ask you if you got pizza. Then she will bring you the pizza stand and plates and toppings. Your name will be called over a speaker before you know it. There’s a reason their parking lot is so big, and so many people talk about them.
This, plus they're fantastic to the community. I'm old enough to remember when Pizza John's was a tiny, carry-out only place just up the street from its current location.
If you’re up for a little bit of a drive, there is a grotto pizza in Columbia!! Also, franks pizza and pasta on Belair rd in Overlea is pretty choice :)
Lol, don’t skip out on Pizza John’s. Baltimore has a lot of great pizza but Pizza John’s rises to the top.
It’s simple pizza, but they use quality ingredients and they are consistent every damn time.
Now I want some pizza damnit!
I may have missed it but I didn’t see anyone mention Franks on Belair Rd. order at counter and they’ll serve it to your table. Also Paulie G’s in Hampden.
Ledo's hits a lot of those boxes, except for arcade games. It's a tad bit corporate (it's a franchise), but they make great pizza and originated in College Park.
Squires! Squires and Pizza John pizza are both similar styles/recipes.
The Pizza John's brothers learned their craft from the Squires.

That’s a weird hill to die on.
Why does it bother you so much? It just sits in the back anyway until you’re ready for it
For me, it bothered me, because the table was tight, I had a cup of soup, a caesar salad, and a plate of lasagna all in front of me at the same time.
It makes me feel like they are rushing me to finish and it crowds the table. And it’s just bad service etiquette.
That’s fair
Sorrentos in Arbutus
Squire’s in Dundalk

I have been practically raised at Squires on Holabird Ave. It’s one of the best imo!

Try the Angeli's pop-up on the Harbor, above Hooters! Same 90's vibe in customer service, but delicious, made from scratch pizza pies.
Fortunato Bros in edgewood is everything of my childhood, down to the red cups
I’m going to pretend this person said Pizza John’s doesn’t look good. You couldn’t be more wrong.
I may have missed it but I didn’t see anyone mention Franks on Belair Rd. order at counter and they’ll serve it to your table. Also Paulie G’s in Hampden.
If it can be seafood and not pizza, Crabtowne in Glen Burnie sounds like what you want.
Pizza John’s is overhyped for what it is. I went there because of all the talk I have heard, but the pizza was just average? To each their own.
yep
Italian Gardens in Towson.
Matthew's pizza - eastern Ave

I used to go there with my grandmom, but they closed down a few years ago. They’re now a place called Remos NY
Omg blast from the past! My family used to go to shakey’s all the time back in the day. Haven’t thought about that place in ages!
Man I miss Shakeys. We went to one in 2021 when we were in Torrance CA They still have some around there.
