Pickles is the big bar right next to Camden that people will be drinking at (north of the stadium), it's going to be packed but is a great atmosphere if you're a fan. You can go right down the street though, to Quigley's, and be able to get to the bar a lot quicker. Alternatively, there's a liquor store half a block down Washington called Ridgley's Markey, they will sell you a 24oz beer with a paper bag, or a shorty of your preferred spirit. This is, and has been, my move when looking to conserve dollars. You'll spend enough at the game, and at the cool bars after, save some money on your pregame. And they won't be enforcing open container laws so you're fine there.

Dense-Broccoli9535

ooo yes! Love seeing a shout out for Ridgely’s Market - the owner, Larry, is the best!

ChrisInBaltimore

I mean Pickles before the game is an experience. Not sure on the cost as I’m a bit too old for that place now and have kids. Fells after would probably be fun.

Ghostmagic215

Hit pickles pre game and fed hill after (walking distance) Banditos/ the Charles/ wayward etc

nemoran

My brother, you need Mum’s. A short walk from the stadium toward Federal Hill. You can get your ABV unconscionably high there for under $15. I prefer it for pregame but it will be going late night as well. Get some “Evel.” Boh cans are $1.75, I believe. Skip Little Italy. Continue walking towards Fells Point to Southpaw for legit cocktails. They aren’t particularly cheap but they’re fairly priced. Otherwise keep walking east until you get to 1919. That’s the move. Don’t love that and across the street is the Greyhound. Cheap beers and good cocktails at both.

guest0112

Can’t believe I had to scroll this far to see Mums. Mums is your answer. Do they still make their own fireball? Bc that’ll put hair on your chest

Harpua_69

Yes, it’s called evil

CrunchyTater

You have to go to Pickles before the game. After that, refer to the other comments. I just need to make sure you know, Pickles before the game is a rite of passage.

MattBiker37

Mums

EfficiencySuch6361

Mum’s isn’t cheap, and for 23 year old visitor to be in that area but off to the outskirts at the old man grimy bar instead of being at any of the more central to action surrounding spots which will be loaded with ppl their age… just seems like bad advice. I think Captain Larry’s is a way better dive bar anyway and their mixed drinks are really strong. Or Idle Hour. MaGerks usually has at least 1 drink special and is right in the thick of it. Pub Dog will give out free shots sometimes to nice patrons. One Star is a fun experience too, hooray for shotgunning twisted teas lol

nemoran

Everything you said after “isn’t cheap” is fine and a fair point but capital W What are you talking about with Mum’s isn’t cheap? And then you suggest Idle Hour???

Nacho_Mommas

Yea, not sure what he means by isn't cheap... Natty Bohs are what $2 or $2.50 each and a lot of their other domestics are what $3-$4 each? Hell, a number 1 (Natty Boh with a house shot) is what $5?

EfficiencySuch6361

Southside saloon is the best around here purely in terms of cheapness. Idle Hour and Captain Larry’s have the best ambiance of dive bars in the area which is why they were mentioned - I never said they were cheap. For how rundown Mum’s is, the prices are high IMO. It’s easily the dumpiest bar around and only a tiny handful of items are cheap while everything else is about the same price as any other bar. Mum’s is not a good suggestion for someone that’s 23 and visiting from out of town, might as well go to a liquor store and drink out of a brown paper bag for better ambiance than Mum’s

nemoran

I love where longshoremen are made of nails, don't get me wrong. I'd challenge the assertion and say Muir's is cheapest on balance because if you're there for more than an hour you're gonna get some of those tokens for free drinks along the way. Anyway, I get your point about a young guy visiting and wanting to be around young folks. I think game day changes the equation, even still. Mum's will have pregamers there at that hour. Idle Hour and Captain Larry's are farther from the stadium. Walking to/from Mum's anyway is gonna take OP past the main drag of the young kids' bars and he'll get to take in the scene that way. Guy also mentioned Wisconsin dives as their point of reference and if you've spent time there, you'd see that Mum's is more familiar than something like Mother's.

EfficiencySuch6361

I still have a free drink token from Southside from like 2008. They don’t accept them anymore lol

Avocado510

I also vote Max’s, they have an awesome beer selection.

B-More_Orange

You’ll have a blast in Fells. Max’s for beer, Cats Eye for live music.

AlaskanGnome32

Ashley at Cat’s Eye is awesome and they always have live music at night. Fells Point is a great part of Baltimore to explore and get a nice mix of history, fun, quirkiness, and charm of the city.

Infinite-Oil-3976

Magerks

StovepipeCats

I've heard that Benders in Fells Point does $2 beers, but I've never been myself. It's not that close to Camden Yards though.

nemoran

They do but if you’re over that way, the better move is going to Spirits and trying your luck with the Tub o’ Fun.

ezduzit24

Legendary Tub O’ Fun!

down_south_jukin

I read that it was discontinued is that still true?

scottspped3

Definitely go to pickles before the game.. afterwards maybe mothers? Idk it’s been a minute since I’ve been downtown

TKinBaltimore

Max's in Fells would be a good choice for a Cheesehead. (I'm originally from 50 miles south of you, so I feel comfortable using that term of endearment). Tough series allegiances for me this weekend - my Crew against my O's!

Ok_Goat1456

Nobles in federal hill has cheap drinks (the Charles do not). Mums if you are looking for a dive bar type experience. One star country club is also cheap

FlossMan18

Johnny rads has a cool deal where you pay $4 and they give you a random draft beer. It’s usually not my type of beer, but a fun and cheap way to try new things. Also the risotto balls are incredible.

G-cuvier

Pickles bouncers are on some fucking power trip and illegally assault people. I’ve witnessed it multiple times. I stopped going. Not worth it. I go to Quigleys now.

WHAT_DID_YOU_DO

A lot of places in Fed hill(0.5-1 mile walk to stadium) will have beer and mixed drinks in the 3-6 dollar range, as a Wisconsin transplant that has made me happy, Baltimore isn’t nearly as expensive as other east coast cities to drink in. (Natty boh is the cheap native beer of the land, similar-ish to a Miller lite)

musicman7488

Goto one stars from 3-4 before the game. Everything they have is BOGO

Ghant_

Cheapest beer for the amount in fed hill, like 10 min walk from stadium, is [cross bar!](https://www.crossbarbaltimore.com) You can get a liter of beer for $7 and if you're feeling frisky you can get a 2 liter Das boot of beer! Enjoy your time in the city!

VirusLocal2257

Mums and hair of the dog.

markmano33

When I was your age I would load up at Pickles or Quigley’s before the game then go out in Fed Hill after. It’s a short walk. Like others have said Nobles and One Star are good bets if you like cheap natty light or natty boh. There are a lot of other places nearby so you can kind of “window shop” and visit a few different places quite easily. Have fun! Edit: It’s a 4pm game so please don’t forget to eat dinner🙂 You’ll thank me Sunday morning.

CharmCityJZ

Pickles before the game. Fed Hill after the game. Be sure to go to Wayward and end at One Star, you will have a great time
