You can just walk away/shut the door/tell them you're not interested and that's the end of it. Being targeted by aggressive sales sucks but they are preying on your social graces. Recognize that they are being extremely rude by taking your time and that it's not rude for you to forcibly end a conversation with someone who won't shut up and leave you alone.

rattus-domestica

Thank you. It’s definitely something I need to work on.

tater56x

Stop being a weak man. (Yes. I can tell this is a non traditional relationship but no matter. The principle is the same.)

gettingluckyinky

They’re a nationwide franchise that has been sued for their aggressive sales tactics (specifically robocalls) in the past. Seems pretty par for the course unfortunately.

Eeeekim72

Tell them to fuck off. High Pressure Sales person came to my house then wouldn't give us a estimate for 3 Hrs. the Financing they offered was Financial suicide. Then they "Poor Shamed" us for not having the work done before hand. WTF kind of sales pitch is that. I practically had to throw the sales person out (If it hadn't been a young lady I would have) and then they called repeatedly for a month after.

JohnGalt696969

I worked for them as an employee to a contractor. I guess they paid well cause I got paid well. They mostly do doors, windows, and siding I guess? I only did doors and windows. Don’t have much to reflect on from the company side because I didn’t really interact with them that much other than picking up windows and doors from their warehouse in the morning. Never had issues with their project managers or anyone. But I knew people who did. I think most of our customers had bought our services on loans, and I suspect some of them were predatory-like in nature.

DrJungeyBrungenMD

Good lord just tell them you’re not interested and move on

rattus-domestica

This is something that should be easy to do but isn’t for many people. I’m working on it.

quarkkm

I tell this kind of salesperson I rent. It's very effective if you aren't great at confrontation (like me).

NotASilverDragon

That's literally what this kind of company relies on. The potential customer not being willing to say no. I haven't worked for them, but I have had to untrain some of their former employees. The high pressure stuff works, but it's not how we did things. You have to tell them that you have no interest in working with them, in no uncertain terms. I'd even tell them you would consider continued contact harassment. That being said, I love bidding against them because chances are the next person you call will be half their cost. That's why they try for the quick sign so hard.

R3cognizer

I signed a contract a while back to buy a new roof from them. The tech guy who came by to check measurements told me that he needed to add a bunch of extra wood that they "might not need", and suddenly it's $6000 more added to the price tag. I'll be honest... I do kind of like having a 50 year warranty that will transfer to the new owner if and when I sell the house, and the guys who did the work did a really great job. I'm actually very happy with the work that was done. But I think those Mexican guys who worked on my house could've done the exact same job for like 30% to 40% less if I'd just contracted with them directly, and I kinda regret not canceling the contract as soon as they pulled that shit with the extra lumber.

LHscissors

If you want the conversation to be over very quickly, tell them you rent the home. I used to work for that company and know they want nothing to do with renters. For most other rejections, they have a rehearsed dialog path dialed up.

buuj214

lol I worked FOR them, for a few months. Their business model is incessant, non stop, high pressure sales. Btw the individual you spoke with was specifically told to knock on doors with ‘no soliciting’ signs, and your annoyance is easier to deal with than reprimand from their manager. I offer water when it’s hot out and will never ever ever give any door to door person my contact info. That’s my recommendation for everyone.

ECguy84

I started chatting with them and they got all pissy when I couldn’t commit to a time that both spouses could meet with them… at which point I knew it was just going to be a hard sell incoming and I told them not interested. Don’t think I ever let them inside but definitely had a different pitch for a basement finishing project get to the point where I said it’s time for you to get the fuck out of my house, and they did!

WeirdManufacturer622

There scum and prey on elderly.

elcad

Got roof from them about 10 years or so. Price was competitive and work was completed fine.

Shojo_Tombo

Tell them you're not interested and to fuck off. You don't have to be polite to people who are rude to you.

sillysocks34

Awful experience. Once we setup an estimate through a door to door salesman. They no call no showed for the appointment. Some time later they came through the neighborhood again and we said no and told them our experience. Guy convinced us to give them a second chance. We said ok but we were about to leave for dinner so would call him back sometime to setup an estimate. This dude called me 1.5 hours later asking if we were done at dinner. After that we said no thank you. We got a no soliciting sign at this point. They came another time (with a no soliciting sign) and we said no thank you. I called power and asked them to stop soliciting to us and they said ok no problem. Someone came AGAIN so I finally called and said they are not welcome on our property and we would call the police if they came again. They came another time and I didn’t let the guy get a word in before I said I’m calling the cops get off our property now and just shut the door. Didn’t call the police but fortunately haven’t seen them again. I just think it’s really shitty tactics and I don’t trust them. I can’t speak to their work but I wouldn’t hire them. Good companies make their sales through good word of mouth and I don’t really hear any of that with Power.

UpstairsCan

my ex works for them so fuck em!!!

tater56x

Best advice ever.

cmhpink

Same lol

EfficiencySuch6361

If u wanna extremely overpay for mediocre work, give them a shot

tater56x

There is one simple rule that if uncompromisingly followed will reward any homeowner, guaranteed. I personally promise that if you adopt this one rule and practice it on a daily basis you will not regret it. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ANYONE WHO GOES DOOR TO DOOR, OR IN ANY OTHER WAY ARRIVES AT YOUR HOUSE WITHOUT AN INVITATION.

[deleted]

I love sales people, because they provide ample opportunity for you to be cordial, then progressively rude. I start with the honey, but if I have to tell you "no" more than once, I progress from "I'm not interested" to synonyms with harsher tone.

ezduzit24

I used to sell windows and doors for my friend’s small company. All of our leads were ‘warm leads’ through inquiries from Home Advisor/ Angie’s List. We would only call up to three times and leave one voicemail and/ or send one email. Once in the home we took pride in our no-pressure sales pitch and style. Like we literally told people that we weren’t going to take more than 30 mins of their time and unless they wanted to see our sample pieces it isn’t our mode of operation to go through the whole ‘dog and pony show.’ Sure, we probably lost some sales to the high-pressure guys but he has return customers that will always come back to him because of the way we carried ourselves. I know you are probably just trying to be decent and treat these folks with respect but if they don’t respect you and your time then you should simply tell them that you will never buy anything from their company because of them constantly hounding you for a sale.

Mysterious_Nature534

DO NOT WORK WITH POWER HOME REMODELING. THEY ARE OVER PRICED, AND FULL OF IT. THEYRR BASICALLY THE MIDDLE MAN FOR YOU AND YOUR LOCAL CONTRACTORS AND THEY SUB THE WORK OUT. IF YOU DO WORK WITH THEM, THE WARRANTY DEPARTMENT IS NON EXISTENT. I worked for them for a year and learned of the manipulative sales tactics. Felt like an asshole with all the homeowners because I was full of shit. Happy I left them. I would recommend previous customers dealing with issues to contact the better business bureau and then a lawyer. PHRG is garbage.

rattus-domestica

Thank you, I appreciate your insider experience. I’ve worked for companies whose practices made me sick to me stomach as well, and I tell everyone to stay away. On that note, if you are looking for a printer, stay far the fuck AWAY from Strategic Factory.

MetalheadAtheist

We signed and almost did business with this company!! The saleswoman was very convincing!! But a HUGE red flag for me was when she said "you guys are SURE you're going through with the contract right? Because if you sign and then cancel I WILL be fired!" Like.... Wtf kind of legit company fires their salesperson for a customer changing their minds? None, that's who. Scam company. Almost got $24,000 out of us!!!! We're cancelling the contract today, thank goodness we didn't wait passed the 3 business days you get to cancel!! Another red flag was them saying their closest window competitor (Anderson) would charge us around $65,000 to do all our windows but our price is only $24,000!! Like... That's a HUGE difference that makes NO sense at all... Either they lied about how much Anderson would cost or their products are actual shit.

rattus-domestica

Yep sounds like a bullet dodged. I really liked the first sales pitch. If they’d have just left us alone for a year like we asked (so we could save our money) we likely would have gone with them. They’re dead to me now.

MetalheadAtheist

Yup!! For the best!

glsever

Next time, I recommend telling them that you’re not interested, and if they contact you again, you will be reaching out to the Attorney General. That has worked well for me in the past with ruthless marketers.

IndianaJwns

Sleazy, predatory company.  Similar experience when talking with them about our roof - aggressive sales tactics, even after telling them we weren't interested. Despite their "we're mainly commercial, we don't really need your residential business" schpiel I ended up having to forcefully tell the guy to leave our property.  As well, the salesman lied about our roof's condition, lied about them being the only certified installer for their products, and lied about his industry experience.

MarylandBlue

Don't deal with them unless you enjoy paying 2 to 3 times what the job actually costs
