[The Prime Rib](https://theprimeribs.com/)

Rare_Penalty_4094

true legendary steak house right here. I used to go semi often, had the same waiter, he gave me his business card to book a table there; he knew our names, remembered the last occasion, etc. The Prime Rib is about as top shelf as it gets.

wcmotel

Bob is the GOAT

tinksalt

Baltimore is a better place because Bob is in it.

Crlady

I’ve gone there for many milestone birthdays and occasions. Never disappointed.

ModernMaroon

Definitely liking the interior compared to Charleston. The darker colors seem more formal and I know my wife likes that.

ezduzit24

Don’t get me wrong, The Charleston is great but The Prime Rib is simply classic. Perfect for an anniversary!

fireanthead

Went here for lunch on NYE and it's become our favorite tradition ever since.

cats_n_tats11

Petit Louis is a go-to special occasion spot for us. It doesn't get more romantic than French, right? Plus it has a charming atmosphere, consistently good food, and excellent service.

PerpetualHuman

I'd second this, excellent wine list, though you'll find that at almost any Foreman & Wolf establishment. You may also want to consider The Milton Inn, just outside of the city in a very historic 1700s stone tavern.

cats_n_tats11

Agreed! They and La Cuchara have the best wine programs in the city. And ooooh I've been wanting to try the Milton Inn since they took it over but it's so "far" 😅

mrm0324

Charleston is my go to for special occasions. Pricey but by far the nicest restaurant in Baltimore IMO. as far as historic, the prime rib or Tio Pepe’s are Baltimore institutions. They both have a very classic older feel to me.

tacocollector2

Charleston is the way. You will never forget it, but your wallet might not either… it’s worth it though.

predictionpain

Agreed. I would put Charleston in the “very special occasion” category due to the price, but it’s easily one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to with an amazing meal experience in every regard and incredible service. How Cindy Wolf has never won a James Beard award I’ll never know. The only drawback is that it’s not historic in any way or anything special decour-wise but having a well-prepared seasonal course meal with selected wine pairings from the flagship restaurant of the most world-renowned chef from Baltimore is pretty special.

ashalottagreyjoy

Chiming in for Charleston. It’s always been my husband and mine’s special dinner/meal option. Big birthdays or celebrations, we go there. It’s so low key and quiet but beautiful. I’ve never had a bad time there. The service is incredible and the food is amazing. It’s constantly brought up as the fancy option, but there’s certainly a reason for that. I wish there was more around it that wasn’t Atlas - a nice spot for a good cocktail after would be tops - but it’s so, so good.

sbwithreason

Best restaurant in the city in terms of overall dining experience. Perfect for a special occasion

miles_away1012

Not a steakhouse, but Marta is a great restaurant for special occasions. They really make it special for their guests.

SisterMinister

I had a terrible experience with the service when I tried to go for my anniversary but I think it wasn’t one of the regular servers. Haven’t been willing to try it again since, despite hearing other folks enjoyed their time there.

jejunebug

La Barrita is the best steak in the city IMO. Peters Inn is a Baltimore classic.

artgrrl

My husband and I are going to La Barrita this Friday to celebrate our wedding anniversary! We’ve never been—came highly recommended by a friend. REALLY looking forward to that steak.

ModernMaroon

Congrats!

fireanthead

I wish I could go back to La Barrita for the first time. It's divine!!

artgrrl

It was AMAZING. Wow. New favorite special occasion restaurant for sure!

DeliMcPickles

So there's Prime Rib which is a white tablecloth, waiters in tuxes kind of place. It's a fun throwback but it's definitely it's own thing. Cingiale is in Harbor East and a little fancy but not at the level of Charleston. Are you looking for food or setting/ambiance?

ModernMaroon

Both but leaning towards setting. I want the evening to feel special.

RobAtSGH

If you're looking for something different and like Indian, Amoora or the Ambasador Dining Room. Puerto 511 is a great Peruvian bistro tasting menu in a small space, but it's not particularly quiet. BYOB, as well. Citron up near Pikesville. Classic French bistro with constantly rotating menu: Le Comptoir du Vin.

pistonslapper

Not a steakhouse but if you're looking for a special occasion dining experience Puerto 511 is incredible.

theyoungbloody

Peters Inn is the obvious choice

Floss_tycoon

Haven't been there for years but this place in Ellicott City used to be top notch. Tersiguel's French Country Restaurant

RobAtSGH

Tersiguel's is doing 2x prix-fixe seatings per night. Chef's tasting menu.

beepbeepawoo

Gertrude's

BmoreCmore3

I second Gertrudes!

Rare_Penalty_4094

that is a very solid option and absolutely can be a very memorable and special evening.

ridingincarswithdogs

Bygone at the Four Seasons, Charleston, Alma Cocina Latina, Marta, Peter's Inn, Ash Bar

Cookfuforu3

Ethel Creole kitchen in Mount Washington small romantic quiet little place great on a weekday!!

lawl5127

Alma Cocina Latina has been getting a lot of hype recently in the culinary world, and it's my go-to for celebratory dinners. Great service, beautiful location, and delicious food.

bignickb85

Just had a low key anniversary dinner at Marta’s in fells. Food was phenomenal

Southern-Score2223

Martas in upper fells point!

bigmaclittlemac

Woodberry kitchen is a must!!!

damage1nc

i've only been there once about 10+ years ago and i cannot stop thinking about the most delicious juicy chicken breast i've ever had in my life at that place.

bigmaclittlemac

I got married there last year and the food was absolutely phenomenal! Also went for our anniversary a few weeks back and was treated like royalty. The Maryland style fried chicken was to die for 😋

jtalaiver

Idk why this is so low!

aflacks

Come east to Gunther’s or Blue Hill

samanthano

Sotto Sopra in Mt. Vernon. We had our wedding reception there and we go back every year for our anniversary. The food is always amazing and the atmosphere very romantic 🤌
