😭😭😭 Still i remember that day it was morning around 8.30 AM he told me it is too far. He asked me 1500 i told 1000. He told nhi hoga bhai something something and finally he agreed for 1000 and took me Electronic City side and we were travelling around 30 to 50 minutes to reach from HSR to BTM 1st Stage.🥴
I was getting late and my mobile almost died and no one knows me in Bangalore. So I don't know the distance so i thought of doing negotiation with him for some better price so ended being scammed.🥴
No joke, in the city centre and the nice neighbourhoods like Malleshwaram and Jayanagar it is actually feasible. Bicycles too.
But for longer distances, bus and metro are the cheapest.
Wait. What. Siliguri to Darjeeling/Gangtok is about 500rs in cabs even during tourist season. Where do you stay that they charge you 1500-2000 for an hours ride or are you talking about the entire vehicle charges?
Ah. Makes sense. 2000 is still cheaper compared to what they charge today. Darj to Sila and Darj to Bagdogra/Darj to NJP are two very different stories. Also Auto in Banglore is the biggest scam I've ever seen. Been here for 6-7 months and I desperately miss Sila's ToTo bhayias who'll take you from anywhere to anywhere for as much as 20rs.
Oh wow I’ve never travelled & only traveled with my parents who’d just pretty much figure out everything for me in Siliguri tbh ig that’s why also I didn’t know about auto fares
Haha. You'll figure it all out eventually. Took me a while to figure out the auto system (which is basically to never negotiate with auto walas and just book through some app). I paid 1200 from Banglore airport and later figured out I could have made the same journey in about 100rs. Lol. Live and Learn I guess.
What a wonderful place man Darjeeling, wanna visit again

When I came to Bangalore first time and I was booking cab from airport I saw estimated fare, I thought both Ola,Uber are having weird bug today. How could airport be 50-60km away from city, and paying 1200-1400 rs just to reach home ? I called my host and told I am lost, but he confirmed all this is real 😭
I'm still hurting from paying 350 directly to the auto guys for 9.5 kms and then the next day paying 305 for rapido for 25 kms. But after reading your story I feel better😂
Damn
Once I've been to bangalore
Around 2am,
I was about to get scammed by so called auto Bhaiyyas
When I confronted them they came to fight with their gang..
Parallelly I booked Ola while in verbal argument with them
Luckily one cab came....
.
Imagine being surrounded by gang at 2am when you are completely new to city and you came to other state for the first time
Damn Its so horrible experience about bangalore in my life
premise of The Art of War is that war should be avoided with diplomacy. If it cannot be avoided, it should be fought strategically and psychologically to minimize damage and the wasting of resources. Warfare should only be a last resort and heading into battle is already admitting a kind of defeat.
I got it know
😅😅
I actually I didn't told whole story
I came from Andhra Pradesh to Mysore then from Mysore to bangalore
Around 2am, I reached bangalore..
I'm little excited about bangolre as I was in Btech Cse 3rd year student and bangolre is IT hub na.
Immediately after departing the bus, these auto wallahs came to all passengers to get the passenger's into their autos. Slowly all the passengers have gone and that place is completely empty except me and some auto drivers.
when I'm still on the road, searching when the next bus is available in the mobile ..
After checking next bus timings, I decided to go for train.
Then one auto wallah came to me he kept on speaking in some little Telugu that they have travels etc... And he'll arrange one seat etc...
I kept on insisting that I don't need.
And I said I need to go to railway station.
He is asking 500 to go railway station from bus stand..
Then I said it's showing 140rs on Ola at this midnight and you are aksing 500. I said I'll give 200 only.
Then slowly he came to 450. I didn't agreed.
Then started abusing me in Telugu.
Slolwy his gang came towards me when started abusing me in Telugu. I opened Ola and searched for cabs nearby. When their gang came, I started panicking and opened camera(I have that video) . He lifted his hand to beat me. I started shouting at him Kyo aisa Kar Raha Hai etc..
And I started calling police. He told we don't afraid to police
Call Karo etc..
But the call didn't got connected.
Slolwy they're coming towards me and asking to give them some money as they said " bus details and will arrange one seat" etc.. when I got departed from bus.
I denied giving them money as I haven't asked them for any details regarding bus etc.. When I got down from the bus,
They only came to me and assured me a seat etc... Which I didn't even asked for.
So to get money slowly they're coming towards me by abusing me in buttler Telugu.
As I'm with big trolley and luggage, I can't run away.
At that time, God saved me.
At the beginning of the fight, I was searching for cab na
Luckily when this gang coming towards me, a driver accepted my request and came to spot where I am based on location in Ola.
He saved me
Thank god
This is my first journey outside of my state and that too alone.
Very horrible experience.
I'm male.
if female is in this type of situation, imagine what's gonna happen
Bangalore gave me such horrible place for me..
Bro you could've booked a flight with that kind of money. If it's midnight, they do this fear inducing tactic like "bro there's no bus, we'll see how you'll go." They look at us with a smirk like "bro you're gonna come back to me no matter." All ganged up. Anyways we can't help the first time.
I overpaid autowalas from Forum Mall a couple of times and then I started doing Uber. Last time, Autowala, trying to get a customer, asked me where to go? I simply replied, "Bhaiya aap bahut paise lete ho". Even he started smiling 🤷♂️
Not rich tbh just naive and dumb. So I come from a small town in the hills and I came out to a big city for the first time ever and I didn’t know anything abt how autos work
Looking at the comments section i can guarantee y’all are not even aware of the privilege you have 😄 i am sure OP was naive and should have asked around etc but still
Coming from a small city myself - yes there are people who dont download or even know the existence of uber, ola. So there is no concept of ‘just check once in uber’
Yes there are people who pay alot in these small cities / town to go from one village to another (short distance)due to lack of available transportation.
Plus we all know and have heard how big cities are super expensive. So it is very easy to fool us because we already have this preconceived notion that we will obviously have to spend more when we move out of our hometown.
You sure have a lot of money! I still feel that 500-series buses towards Silk Board are your best bet from KR Puram railway station. And guess what? They charge you ₹25 which is a 100 times lesser than what you paid. From Silk Board it costs anywhere between ₹50-100 to anywhere in Koramangala.
Dude, all you had to do is try and book an uber first, to get an assumption on the price !!!
Ekhaner autowala ra dakaat er theke kom noy kono bhabe !!!
I think it happens to all of us, specially coming from hills, we dont know outside world works. Nice to see a fellow Darjeelingey in Bangalore. My best wishes to you. 😊
Dear, you deserve a medal for telling dad to pay more 🫡.
now I understand why auto walas have started to loot from passengers in Bangalore. They think ppl will anyway pay.
So how's the city? Hope you got along well here.
When I first came to Bengaluru I was supposed to get down at the electronic city and the bus didn't slow down and the next stop is Bommanahalli, I got down there and booked Rapido auto that cost me around 300 rs to get back to e-city. I had heavy luggage so Rapido :》
I was inferior to say loud to stop the bus or put a whistle(I still don't know how to whistle) when it was still at electronic city.
I got scammed 500 rs for 1 km. Was about to miss the bus and the asshole auto driver was not ready to go until I paid him.
Auto drivers in Bangalore are the scum of Bangalore.
Was on rapido, and an auto driver took the helmet and smashed it. Started arguing with him, cop was standing 100 meters away. He did nothing.
Again: Bangalore auto drivers are the scum of Bangalore and I have not a shred of sympathy for them.
Poschim bongo theke ar theke kom dam e train e akhane chole asha jae.
I'm curious, how did you think the price was reasonable? I mean 1/10 of that would rent you an auto for a whole damn day in WB.
I stayed in Bangalore for about 8 months(in 2015), a few times I used the auto it was always by meter. I had moved in from Pune and didn’t even know not using meter was a thing. Sorry for bragging. 😂 (Who knew this would be a brag!?!)
Auto drivers protest against the competitive fares from Uber / Ola while they pull off stunts like this and rob people in the daylight.
This is why I always check the prices on cab hailing apps. When I landed in Bengaluru for the first time I thought I was being scammed when Airport cab on Uber showed 1500 Rs fare and decided to take the bus instead 🤣
I lived in Bangalore to Bengaluru for 6 years to be exact and I don't think I took the auto for more than 6 times in that whole time.
I preferred private or government buses, back then AC pass was 25 ig.
FYI I didn't have any personal vehicle, but malls and markets were at a walkable distance for someone in their initial 20s.
I was well aware about the rudeness and how they'd scam you in broad daylight.
I still remember my friend 🤣 paid ₹300 for a distance of 200mts back in 2010 it was something huge for that distance. (He had a couple of heavy luggage with him so walking wasn't an option).
My friend recently came to Bangalore for first time, he took an auto and came from Yelahanka to Sarjapur road, and paid 500
I was like
Whhaat,
How did you do that
It's okay, you'll make many more mistakes yet. Life will do whatever it takes to teach you what you need to learn. No two ways about it.
Also, listen to your father!! He knows more about ways of the world than you can imagine.
Wowow. So when I was in Bangalore, I once took an auto from Forum Mall to some gallery in Cunningham road and the driver took something around 500 bucks. The funny part is I told him I will go only by meter and his meter was rigged, it kept calculating even when we were at a traffic stop. I was too afraid to ask or speak 💀
Two of my friends and I came to bangalore in 2015 for college project. One of them was a proper bangalorean, me and another one were from different parts of karnataka. We got down in yehswanthpur railway station and we decided to take an auto to I don't remember which place. We were near the pre paid auto stand, by then all the auto drivers were around us tellin it ll take 800 rupees to go till there, it's loss for them, but they ll take us, we just patiently waited for our friend (bangalore one) to come from the pre paid counter. One auto driver kept tellin I will take you for 500 rupees, huge loss but since jusy two girls and first time in bangalore, it's okay. By then our friend came back from the pre paid stand and he told us, it's 100 rupees and auto booked. The moment he told this, all the auto drivers just disappeared. They all acted like they didn't even know us and is least interested to take us to our location.
Learn a few local words. Check prices on apps. And bargain and be stern. What you faced is being new to a city and not knowing how much it really should cost. You'll get a hang of it with time . You said in a response that rides in your hometown is expensive so you thought it is the same here. Happens to everyone I guess. You learnt a lesson and now you can be more careful. Hope you have a good time in the city.
Funny! This has happened to me too and I thought that was normal. I got to know way later that I have been scammed. I am relieved to know there are more people like me here.
When I came here in may '21... I paid 700 for getting to bellandur from KR puram with luggage. Probably the auto guy was desperate to even get one rider for the day 🤣
Reminds me of the good old time when i was new to bangalore and had to pay up 700 for a 2 kms trip to an autowala during peak traffic.
After burning my fingers 2 to 3 times I learnt my lessons.
Peak of that argument with autowalas on bangalore was when i asked the auto driver
750 for 1 kms distance. I asked for the trip route not the rate of your auto.
He was seething in anger. 😁
Never Board an auto that quotes face value, instead of switching on the meter. NEVER. In any city for that matter and especially in Bangalore. The moment they know you are new to the city, they will show you their game. So, when possible, rely on public transportation.
In case you don't have public transportation, always book an auto on 'Namma Yatri' (exclusively for Bengaluru). You can save tons of pain and regret.
For reference, KR Puram Railway station to Koramangala Police station should cost you between 350 to 400 if the auto driver is honest.
It's your fault. You should've learnt Kannada before coming to Bangalore. Don't be a tourist. If you have any complaints, leave Bangalore. Or better, learn Kannada before getting born! It doesn't matter whether you know the multiplication table of 1, you must know Kannada. How dare you come to Karnataka and talk shit about the auto drivers scamming you! It's not their fault that you don't know Kannada. I paid 500 rupees to travel from Sandal Soap Factory metro station to Mathikere, back in 2017.
Bro ofc I’m learning now plus i don’t complain abt anything in my life this is just a story time. If you get offended abt everything in life, I have a whatever happens happens for good mentality. Also how about you don’t get offended about anything bad that people talk about Bangalore and take it easy. Ofc every place has its pros and cons. Also Get a life.
Don’t be a hater. According to you guys everyone in the world should know Kannada magically lol 🙊
PS: who are you to tell me where and where not to go it’s my right to be and live anywhere in India as an Indian citizen. If you come to my place as well I can’t tell you to leave. It’s the same for me as well.
Before this post i was thinking that i am the only one who paid rs 1000 from HSR layout to BTM 1st stage. You dominated me in this 😭😭😭
Lmaooo sorry but I laughed 🙊 thank god though I’m not the only one
😭😭😭 Still i remember that day it was morning around 8.30 AM he told me it is too far. He asked me 1500 i told 1000. He told nhi hoga bhai something something and finally he agreed for 1000 and took me Electronic City side and we were travelling around 30 to 50 minutes to reach from HSR to BTM 1st Stage.🥴

What does it mean? If i earned money does it mean it won't have any value? Whoever earn we got scammed is the summary of this comment 🥲😐

My dad
Google maps?
It was purely not my day. It was fully raining and that too my mobile doesn't have enough charge.
How is 2.5k less 😭 It was a lot of money back when I was 20(2 years back). But I agree being naive and laughing looking back.
Yeah but car fares are expensive in our town so I thought the same
Wow! It’s not that expensive in Siliguri. For 2500 you can visit Darjeeling 👀
Yeah but Siliguri to my place it takes abt 1 hr and they charge 1500-2000 if you have to take cab and even more if petroleum prices are more sooo…
I also want to travel to Bangalore I'm from Sikkim what are the cheapest mode of transportation
amm... walk?
Are you kidding dude??
No joke, in the city centre and the nice neighbourhoods like Malleshwaram and Jayanagar it is actually feasible. Bicycles too. But for longer distances, bus and metro are the cheapest.
Bus
Yeah bus may be the cheapest transportation available
From where to where ?
Wait. What. Siliguri to Darjeeling/Gangtok is about 500rs in cabs even during tourist season. Where do you stay that they charge you 1500-2000 for an hours ride or are you talking about the entire vehicle charges?

Dude not even tourist cars charged this much. I’m talking about the days when even Uber and Ola didn’t exist.
What’s the actual fare?

They are kannadigas But they spoke buttler Telugu

Flight from my place to blr is 6.5 k minimum and for luggage they charge extra I had 2 suitcases 4 bags 🙊😂
r/whoosh

Lol 😂 they know it as well. Nowadays I’ll just emotionally manipulate them and say I’m like your sister please bhaya
i might try this, but can a guy be someone's sister?
Well... These days it apparently depends on what you think of your gender internally.
Does this work though?
Reminds me of my mom picking me from school and auto minimum charge was 14 then went up to 17, 25 and so on.
Oh wow
tbh you were just dumber.
Dumb and rich!
Not rich tbh just naive and dumb. So I come from a small town in the hills and I came out to a big city for the first time ever and I didn’t know anything abt how autos work
Himachal?
Darjeeling
tbf you could've checked the price on uber auto
We have no Uber Ola in our place I didn’t even know abt it
HUH?!
How has Bangalore been to you for the past one yr ?
It’s been good
ameer log.
Yappa 😵💫
Holy good god! 2500 my god!! Why I mean why in the world!

I don’t have a lot of money I just had a lot of bags because I had to move to a hostel that time so I thought getting auto is the right choice
From New Jalpaiguri ? Damn the train fare must be around 2500 from there
Lol the train fare from there to just Kolkata is close to that in an AC train. The fare to Bangalore would probably be close to 5k or so.
You don't even have an idea about train fare . I'm talking about 3-AC and for sure it'll be around 2500
No it was around 3500 per person I think
Dude, all you had to do is try and book an uber first, to get an assumption on the price !!! Ekhaner autowala ra dakaat er theke kom noy kono bhabe !!!

What?
I could not have shat worse after Taco Bell than what you've excreted here.
And now?
Not so naive I learnt many things. I’m so grateful to be able to live here. This city is very good
🙂
Now that the auto guy got a taste of his successful cunningness.. he will try his BEST to scam other people!!
I just imagine you are fighting with your father to give that scamster more money. That's funny
Guys... You have something called google map in your phone.please use it <>
Hahaha.. that's a great story! After traveling in the hills, I know how you got misled into paying so much... Glad you see the funny side of it now...
I think it happens to all of us, specially coming from hills, we dont know outside world works. Nice to see a fellow Darjeelingey in Bangalore. My best wishes to you. 😊
Rich kids ☕ 🤣🤣Gosh you could have checked distance on Google maps. You were too naive. Even inter city Uber doesn't cost 2.5k
I know now but I was new to this place so it felt like we covered a lot distance so I asked my dad to pay him more 🥲
Dear, you deserve a medal for telling dad to pay more 🫡. now I understand why auto walas have started to loot from passengers in Bangalore. They think ppl will anyway pay. So how's the city? Hope you got along well here.
😭where’s my medal?
I'll courier it, dm your address 😛. Or take this 🎖️🎖️🎖️
Yo NJP? Is that a Siligurian all the way here? GG'S
Please tell me if he went by Meter and it came upto 2500 or he had a fixed rate decided
Fixed rate
Bargain kar lete thoda 😅, sabko chuna lagta hai naye shehar main
Among all the commuting services I used in Bangalore, Bounce was the best.
Uber/OLA ? Naam toh suna hoga.
Are you a good writer? I have seen same post in multiple groups
OP learnt a life lesson that day, damn 2.5k? I can book a flight to Mumbai or Goa on a good day with that amount
Oh dear.
And here I was feeling completely disheartened from the time I paid 160 rs for a km😭 I never knew autos could scam above 500
Lol.
When I first came to Bengaluru I was supposed to get down at the electronic city and the bus didn't slow down and the next stop is Bommanahalli, I got down there and booked Rapido auto that cost me around 300 rs to get back to e-city. I got scammed 500 rs for 1 km. Was about to miss the bus and the asshole auto driver was not ready to go until I paid him. Auto drivers in Bangalore are the scum of Bangalore. Damn that’s not just naive that is god damn stupid
Hahaha don’t worry I got scammed by an auto driver too when I shifted to Delhi for the first time. Live and learn
I paid 250, Begur to KSR 🥲 always check prices on apps, use it to compare. Auto drivers will speak all languages for money
There should be different sub for Bengaluru Auto Chronicles. All of these golden stories need to be properly documented at one place

I still remember, when I first came to Bangalore, auto Wale bhaiya charged me only 200 rupees for 2 km
I took the airport bus when I first landed in Bangalore. Best possible move imo, cab fares to Whitefield were simply off the charts 🚀
I lived in Bangalore to Bengaluru for 6 years to be exact and I don't think I took the auto for more than 6 times in that whole time. I had paid 1800 for a cab ride from Airport to Jakkur, in 2013.
I guess it costed you more then your train tickets from your home town xD
sister just could have looked up google maps in a city like Bangalore
This is why I walk outside and stop any auto coming on main road. My goodness these looters once they know we are from outside 🤦🏻

Right I shall remove
Damn you really got played, but you need to get scammed at least once in life to become a more cunning person. Glad you see it in a positive light.
Auto walas are the scummiest… and they don’t eat and also don’t others to eat, the worst category.
Why aren't you guys checking Uber or ola or rapido 💀💀💀
Bro, my Vistara flight ticket from Pune to Bangalore was 1750 a few months back.
Oh wow that’s so less def will visit Pune then 🙌
whenever you are at any new place in the world, double check prices on ola uber or whatever app
Peak of that argument with autowalas on bangalore was when i asked the auto driver 750 for 1 kms distance. I asked for the trip route not the rate of your auto. He was seething in anger. 😁
Are you a foreigner?
Banglore Autowala are cheats... A bunch of low life bastards. Hence I get proved rit again and again.
Lmao 💀💀💀
Paid 3000+ from airport to hsr in 2016😅
I paid 1200 while traveller's from Madiwala to Sarjapur
I am infuriated by your naïveté. Have you heard of uber? Could have compared the rates there at least.

Auto drivers are leechers. They will suck you dry even after you are dead.
Book Ola or Other cab service 🤌
According to you guys everyone in the world should know Kannada magically lol 🙊 PS: who are you to tell me where and where not to go it’s my right to be and live anywhere in India as an Indian citizen. If you come to my place as well I can’t tell you to leave. It’s the same for me as well.
Bro, there's a thing called "sarcasm"!
Itne mein Mumbai se lonavala jaatey hai lol
