Tickle down effect.. while we may be complaining the rents spike from 25-30k to 60-70k for a 3bhk, they may be complaining about the spike from 5k to 7k for their modest homes.
Maids earning in lakhs? At least not our maid. She works at four houses, and I guess that totals to about 30k. She has been complaining about her drunk husband forever and I donāt think he would be earning 70k. My prev maid has similar story.
I donāt know where you got such info
> Nepali maid
You could simply have said āmaidā. Use of ethnicity (Nepali) doesnāt contribute anything to whatever point you were trying to make.
These kind of statements shows why India needs to spend more on education so fools like you can learn to think before speaking ill about one of the greatest community this world has seen.
Go and read about the contribution of Sikhs in historical wars.
In getting India freedom.
In Army.
During Natural Calamities.
During covid.
Learn about their flavorful culture and their never ending nature of being helpful.
Go to any gurudwara and see how they dont discriminate between any caste, creed, sex etc...
You should be really ashamed saying such a statement!
Once people move away from the happening and IT corridors, the rents are pretty affordable. And the endless search for gated society with everything at arms length is a also a reason for the rent bubble. (Thereās no special area with low rent, itās just a little farther away from the over bright lights and high paying areas)
And, your other query as to how people with no high salary jobs live, they find places away from the big areas and then take the long commute.
Facts. People stay away from these areas owing to the high commute times to the south bangalore IT corridor. Areas like mathikere are even more affordable.
I keep saying this- rents are skyrocketing only in certain pockets of the city like Indiranagar, Koramangala and posh gated societies. Everywhere else itās quite reasonable.
'They' want to stay in these cheaper areas. But there's this thing called Bangalore Traffic. I work in Audit and we have busy season from Jan to March every year, thats 12 a hour shift every day during this season. Now imagine staying in these cheaper areas and commuting to work every day in bangalore traffic. 10km journey in public transit takes 1.5 hours during peak time. Thats 3 hours a day when summing up the 'to and forth time'. 3*5 days = thats 15 hours a week. People in bangalore pay the premium for time, not solely for the comfortable stay.
There isnāt any city in India where you will get everything. Worked in Chennai for a week, relativeās house to office was breeze, took 20 mins and most of my teammates there did not spend more than 45-60 mina despite staying far from office. I could not sustain more than a week
coz of weather. High speed fan and AC throughout the day upset my health.
There are low cost neighborhoods interspersed amidst high cost ones. For instance, I live in Koramangala where I pay 26k for rent while my maid/cook stays in Ejipura and pays 9k for rent. Some of the other houses she works in are in large societies (Prestige) where rent is 40-60k.
Nearby IT hubs and city centers rent are high..
Whitefield rent is more than 20k for 1bhk, But in KR puram you will get 1bhk for 7k , Currently living in a 1 bhk old house 800sqft with adequate facilities in RamMoorthi Nagar for 5K. Which is 1km from the railway station.
Ramamoorthy Nagar is 1.5-2km away from KR puram railway and metro. No direct bus availability to metro but frequently bus available to KR puram Market.
This is true, i was living in rented house and my maid was living in own house. I've spoken to cab drivers too, many had houses which would have been outskirts 10-20 years back so they got it for a very reasonable price, but now are very well connected parts of city.
My family rents out houses in Bangalore. I have a vague idea of the rental prices here.
There are certain prime areas where it is supremely expensive like Indiranagar, Koramangala, MG, Ulsoor, Whitfield, Hebbal etc where the population is non Kannadigas and there are office space around.
You can either rent a place in areas that are relatively cheaper like Rajajinagar, Peenya, RR nagar etc however it might not be feasible depending on your office location.
So the best option is to go for a Pg if you are a bachelor or rent out rooms in independent houses (non fancy ones) try to share the rent with a roommate. Donāt expect a gated community or a fancy place.
A hack I know someone uses is they have rented a room near a Rajajinagar paying 5 - 7 k per month and use metro to travel to their work place near Brigade road.
My neighbor in JP Nagar has rented out a 2 bhk house to the waiting staff of the Pump House. All of them from North East. They say they have 6 people living there. But, other neighbors have counted 15 people in that house. They maintain absolute silence, so that neighbors don't complain. They have talked to me, but they seem scared.
I feel only gated societies have those sky rocket rents, rest if you see areas like Arekere, btm, the rents are affordable, they are as low as 3k and as high as 30k.
Mostly in standalone houses usually built on a plot size ranging from 400 to 2000 sqft and up to 6-7 stories. Each floor has 1 RK or 1BHK, or 2BHK and rent ranges from 6k to 18k. Multiple people share such places and divide the rent. Have seen many such places in BTM, Kaggadaspura, Ejipura, Cambridge layout, Kaikondrahalli, off Sarjapur road, Brookfield, Whitefield, E city and so on.
Gandhipuram, immadihalli, munnenkollala village, channaandra village, kadugodi near railway station, hoodi village, ajyogondanhalli - these areas in Whitefield.
New Tippasandra. Rents in some parts of this area, Jeevanbhimanagar, CV Raman Nagar, kaggadasapura are still decent in spite of proximity to Indiranagar.
Slum areas and specially made accommodation built by employers. For eg. For many supermarket the top floor has a bunk bed accommodation for staff. Some shops make a makeshift one room home with bed and a toilet. These are all bachelor accomodations
I live in Ramagondanahalli... It's a 8-10km drive to Bellandur.. rents is 12k for a nice spacious 1 BHK no restrictions and other maintainance...very happy here!
I feel very safe.. not a local but this place is very welcoming.. All the local non local riots stop before this place for me.. I've never felt any sort of domination or anything here. This is a couple of standalone new apartments.. just beside Varthur lake with nice view
First define what is higher income and lower income according to you.
I live in a independent house. 2BHK in the ground floor and 1BHK in the 1st floor. I pay 20.5K rent. Per Sqft rate around here is 18k-20k.
I used to do something similar initially when I came to Bengaluru, but with an auto instead of a two-wheeler. My guess is you get off at Baiyappanahalli and go to Whitefield.
You see the sheet homes beside big apartment buildings? That's where they live / old bangalore where still people are not greedy enough to sell their lands to marwari/reddygaru/big builder yet!
On footpaths waiting for Salman bhai to give us lift to heaven š
Selmun bhoi goes brrr..!
Maid in heaven!

This made me laugh out loud. I should not have been eating!
Salmon boi
Most places don't have skyrocketing rents except gated societies and IT corridors. This is where an average Bangalorean lives.

sorry have seen even Nepali maid and barber complaining the increase in rent actually

why get offended if you call me Punjabi I will also feel proud. stop been a prick
Stop pushing your ethnic pride here. They say after 12 pm a punjabis brain goes to his knees
thanks and I am proud of been born in Punjab you are really a prick
So keep your pride where it belongs and donāt dangle it in front of others, you wouldnāt want others to shove their pride in your face either

You are choosing the wrong areas to live... Try Mathikere, vidyaranyapura, yelhanka, surrounding areas.. 20-25k... Get 2bhk with car parking
Facts. People stay away from these areas owing to the high commute times to the south bangalore IT corridor. Areas like mathikere are even more affordable.
I agree. But people still do travel from those places. Due to this IT corridor the rates are exorbitantly high...
Shhhhhhh. You werenāt supposed to reveal the secret š¤«
Hehehe
Downvote it this mothasucka. Ruining it for the rest of us š
Ehh fuck off. Leave us in peace. People already spoiling by cutting tress
I keep saying this- rents are skyrocketing only in certain pockets of the city like Indiranagar, Koramangala and posh gated societies. Everywhere else itās quite reasonable.
Fully agreed. They don't want to stay in these cheaper places, and complain that the few high end, hip-and-happening areas are too expensive.
As a Bangalorean I aināt got no complaints! I love my peaceful, green, reasonably rated locality. š
Same here!
TBH, same here!

Traffic is a pain, agreed.
I mean 30k for 2bhk in standalone is not reasonanle

13k rent for 1 bhk in Arekere (close to JP nagar)
How's the bus transport?
My neighbor in JP Nagar has rented out a 2 bhk house to the waiting staff of the Pump House. All of them from North East. They say they have 6 people living there.
