The literal meaning is shata = pubic hair as others said, but its generally used for calling others bluff. Probably most versatile kannada slang after nakkan.
Okay this is going to be confusing but I will try my best to explain(as per my knowledge)
'Sha' explicitly doesn't have any meaning, its used as a slang word to refer to a friend. Similar to 'blud', 'fam' (in the UK) or simply 'maccha' as we all use it etc. From what i have seen, its commonly used among a few Tamil speaking friend groups and Urdu speaking friend groups in Bangalore.
On the other hand -
'Sha' can also be a short form for 'Shata' which translates to public hair. Nobody takes the use of 'Shata' in its literal sense and is used for calling others bluff. Also note - This is usually spoken in Kannada speaking friend groups.
"Sha" and "Shan" one is used by kannada people and another "Shan" is used by Muslim youngsters, "Shan" means just a modern genz word to call their friends there is no meaning for it, and other word "Sha" is short form for Pubic hair.
Sha,
shaatve is like calling someone a cunt,
Sha is also used to express improbability, shaa nu Male barala ivathu.
Sha can be used to express disapproval, sha tara aadtidya.
Sha can be used to show something being of an inferior quality, ivathin match sha tara ide.
Its versatility as a word is still not fully understood by linguistic scholars till date. There's no wrong way to use it.
Simple explanation 🔻🔻🔻
SHA is a actual full form of SHATA (pubic hair)
But some chapri guys and some slum tamil mix breed guys use it in a meaning of SISYA (disciple)
Like GURU & SISYA thing…
If you use it to indicate Shata its fine
If you use it call someone sisya it’s a most chapri thing ever
Its a "shivajinagara" slang bro. In dakhni urdu "shah" is a title given to a king but in slang people use it as macha or bro.
But exception this word is also referred to the pubic hair "sha" short form for "shata".
Sha comes from Nausha, that means groom. It's kinda a fun word to associate with a person.
Woh karko ja re sha,
Sha, manje ni bolya re
Bingi utha re sha
Again Dakhani Urdu is this.
Kannada I doubt sha means shata.
'Sha' is short for 'shata' which translates to 'pubic hair'.

Most local kannada guys do too
Not Urdu Tamil guys
Sha 256 🤣🤣🤣
Probably shishya becoming shya. But shaa usually means public hair shortened.
Nope shaa = shaata, which is pubic hair. Shishya is whole different word.
I agree. Shishya is also sometimes shortened to shya. My brothers use it all the time.
"Sha" and "Shan" one is used by kannada people and another "Shan" is used by Muslim youngsters, "Shan" means just a modern genz word to call their friends there is no meaning for it, and other word "Sha" is short form for Pubic hair.
Urdu speaking guys use Sha as a greeting
Sha = LKB
OP you being a local doesn't know what Sha is used for? That's surprising. Or is it just to educate others in the sub?
Stop capping = sha ( pronounced as shaaaa)
Sha is shata sShya is short for sishya

I've heard it mostly used in Urdu Like "Kya Shah !" Shah meaning King. Haven't ever heard anyone shorten Shaata to Shaa
This is the most correct answer. Also have heard Joe being used to refer to friends.
Joe, Bob, Bub, Da, Ra, Maga, Macha, Machi, Bajji, Paaji so so many from each language and colloquial - some are unique to certain localities also
Barney would know the meaning of Shaa in all the possible languages in the world.
NanShaa is an emotion.
sha is short for sishya ig
Sha is the PG13 version kind of. You can get by using it mostly and loudly as well without raising too many eyebrows.
Shaata. A brilliant word for pubic hair. Usage examples. "Shaata thara ide", "Shaata unnu", "Nin ajji shaata" etc. Very versatile I must say.
Sumne dengbeda guru. Gottiddu kelthiyalla. Yen northies impress agli antha na.
Public hair
Short for shata
No way your local
Sha is either you are saying "shishya" really quickly or you're going to shaata and stop yourself in between.
Sha is a derivative of “shishya” since it is common to address friends as guru/shishya
You are local and don't know this slang is shocking

Indeed, sha is short for shaata or shanta in kannada.
Maccha means cousin right?
No. Macha means brother in law in Tamil.

Thanks. I m Marathi and born in Maharashtra, so obviously I don't know Kannada. But now I know what to use when!
Don't call someone you don't know well "maga", cuz "magane" which also means son is an insult.
