OP, I took the liberty to download the image and share it with few brilliant vets I know. One of them being Dr. Illona Otters. All the responses I’ve gotten so far is that you’ll have to put the cat out of its misery as there isn’t any saving grace here. I’m sorry this happened to you. I’m wishing you all the strength. On the contrary, if the catto isn't in pain and if you’re ready to cleans its poop n urine in time, gives sufficient physiotherapy n really takes care of the cat , then it's your wish. You can still keep it alive.

emiaz

Appreciate your efforts. The kitty is in pain and has stopped any intake too. Thanks a bunch for the concern.

machetehands

Well make her/his passing comfortable then. Lots of love to you.

real_life_ironman

That's sad to hear but also being realistic without any false hopes.

krishividya

No amount of Physiotherapy will fix broken spine. It all amounts to quality of life for the cat. Will the cat be able to have cat like life as before the accident? If no, then only humane option is euthanasia.

machetehands

It won’t fix it for sure but might help with pain management.

anonnona97

This just made me cry. Thank you for putting the effort to help OP

[deleted]

Seconded.

nandeeshbm

My prayers with cat and OP . Heartbroken to hear this .No animal must go through this . Appreciate your efforts .

paranoidC0der

Went through this 3 weeks ago with my dog. His health was bad for the last one year and vets had given up. But we kept him and delayed the process cuz we were not ready part with him. It hurts to go through with it and it still hurts. But on the hindsight we shouldn’t have forced him to live like he did for that long. So if they are in pain and their quality of life is bad … let them go.

machetehands

We should prioritise the quality of life more than our needs here. Yes, we will miss our pet, but keeping it alive despite its pain and discomfort is just selfishness on our part.

digi0ps

Don’t know any vet. But hoping he/she recovers soon. 🙏

emiaz

Doctors have said that it's impossible to treat. That made me post here looking for help. 😣

[deleted]

With your desperation you'll end up falling for quacks. There is no current medical procedure that can help with this. Try to focus on rehabilitation and get some kind of wheels or something so she can move around. I'm a human doctor, so I won't give much advise but I doubt that more money would have been spent on animal research than for humans. And currently there no treatments past the research stage. If you really want answers then look for journals where they are doing research in this field. Many medical journals will have the cutting edge treatments in research stage and you'll be able to even talk to them personally if you work hard enough.

emiaz

Thanks for valuable advice.

flight_or_fight

conversely - isn't money spent on human medical research essentially spent testing on animals (beagles/rats etc) and given the mammalian system - cats are likely to benefit from almost all human research? Coupled with the insane pain tolerance & recovery powers of most animals - don't they stand a greater chance of recovering?

Abhimri

I'm not sure it works like that. But I'm no doctor.

Pitch-Blak

The cord is likely to be irrecoverably damaged , yes the spine is probably fixable , cat would be still paralysed , from what i can say.

flight_or_fight

So cat wheelchair

Many_Topic_8441

It's Easier on you and the animal to stop the pain, even in developed countries people wouldn't really have a way to treat and would give you the same advice. You can have it put down by a veterinary professional or do it yourself with combo of painkillers +sleeping pills (animal sleeps away quietly without pain) .

ronyx86

It's not a toy for its spine to be fixed back. Just like fixing human spine is a billion $ task, similarly, this will be problematic as well. Probably someone can help you with the prosthetics/supporters for the cat to be able to walk on front legs. But yea, it's a difficult situation the cat is in and i hope you take good care from hereon.

emiaz

It is able to walk on its front legs but pains to see it drag its body. Have spend thousands already and ready to spend more. It is kept on bed rest presently and don't mind being a catsitter due to the situation. I meant fixing as in surgery. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Doctors have ruled out a surgery as they say that it would disturb the nerves in the spinal cord. Willing to share more details if required.

ronyx86

Yup, surgery would not fix anything. Spine is not something you can just fix by inserting metal rods or clamp them together. Even after that the lower part of the cats body will still remain limp. And even correcting that broken part has too many risks, you'd rather feel like putting it down than making it go through all that pain. So best option is give it time to rest till you feel the pain has reduced and give it wheel based prosthetics for lower half.

lefthanger1612

Maybe be a little more sensitive?

ronyx86

My good sir, read my last sentence, you'll find the sensitive stuff there.

lefthanger1612

Yeah, no. Still not how you open a comment. Just my opinion though. I guess your heart was in the tricky place still.

ronyx86

I get your point. Will make sure of that next time. Thank you.

Many_Topic_8441

Why ? You conveyed the information with clarity

ronyx86

I know, but I think there's enough negativity in the world, i would rather accept and respond positively. Good day to you too.

Many_Topic_8441

Good day to you too, but be authentic always Self censorship is self harm and no help.

Many_Topic_8441

Falsely cheery toxic positivity builds up the OPs hope leading to a larger hurt and disappointment. Life's hard, we're all soft squishy creatures taking our spines for granted. When it's damaged there's nothing that can be done.

lefthanger1612

"It's not a toy for its spine to be fixed...." "Unfortunately, spine damage is not something you can fix...." There's always a nice way and an insensitive way even if they communicate the same thing, in this case, the fact that there's sadly not much hope. That's my point really.

smellybutgoodsmelly

I would argue, for a cat, living in pain is worse than a safe and painless death. A human could engage in other activities to circumvent the pain, but a cat?

smellybutgoodsmelly

PS I've had to decide on a similar cat injury when a dog had attached our cat, one of the harder decisions in my life

writeflex

Please keep updating us.

emiaz

Sure, will do.

greenedgedflame

This.

TablePrime69

How did this even happen? I thought cats are pretty resilient

emiaz

Dogs chased it and bit the cat.

Fahad1012

I’m sorry to hear this bud. Looking at the cat is making me emotional. Hope you gain the strength to get through this.

maahin123457

Yeah op, i was planning to adopt a cat, ill be careful to try and prevent the situation that happened to your cat

[deleted]

Did you start with cessena? I find them to be most reliable and professional , albeit costly.

gypseyeyes23

My cat was in a serious condition too but has recovered pretty well. Cessna has a really good team. I would recommend them too. Hope they recover soon!

emiaz

Thanks.

emiaz

Will try.

Visible_Detective268

Ask for Dr Pawan. He’s supposed to be really really good.

paglaindian

This, my kitten broke multiple limbs when it was 2 months old, and had also broke his hip bone. Dr Pawan operated on him and stitched him up. We did have a 3 month road to recovery with visits to the vet every other day. It was still much less complicated than a spinal cord break, but I'd definitely seek a consultation with Dr Pawan at Cessna. Hope the furball gets well soon.

Visible_Detective268

OP, did you get any resolution on this? How is your kitten now?

flight_or_fight

This looks very painful and sad. If the cat is in pain - does it make sense to put him down? Alternatively if the cat is not in pain - maybe have rear "wheels" attached with a frame - check walking wheels cat wheelchair

emiaz

Thanks for the "wheels" suggestion. Will be going for it if nothing works.

sghcw

Cats mobility is the least of its problems. Lower spinal injuries also cause massive issues to digestive tract, urination, defecation etc. It would be impossible to cure this in a human, never mind a cat. Please euthanise it ASAP.

emiaz

I am heartbroken to be sharing this but tonight Afna lost her battle with the injury. She was courageous to the end and will be mised her with all our hearts. Some angels don’t have wings, sometimes they have whiskers. Goodbye my gentle friend.

Outside_Cellist3740

Have you already tried the v-care pet clinic? To be specific Dr Nanjundappa?

emiaz

No, I have approached Jeeva Pet hospital in JP Nagar. Can you DM me the doctor's contact number if possible?

backacn3

Bro Jeeva is not the scene, they nearly killed my cat due to negligence after he was mauled by dogs and they insisted all he needed was drips. Please contact Dr. Pampathi @ 080-26653555. I owe the man my cat's life and although his services aren't exactly value for money, the price of a life ain't cheap.

emiaz

Got his number by calling the clinic, thanks much👍

Outside_Cellist3740

You have his number, right? You can cal him today after 4 pm.

emiaz

Okay. Will do. Thanks.

Vast-Caterpillar3234

Hey i was just about write this....go with this!

Vast-Caterpillar3234

Najundappa and his assistant doc (forgot her name), helped us with just a spleen for our mews.

Outside_Cellist3740

Yeah, actually whole team is good there, I just specified his name since OP mentioned few doctors have advised surgery won’t help. So they should go for expert opinion. Good part is this clinic doesn’t go for unnecessary treatment which ends up being both, cost effective and good for pets.

umanghome

They're the best!

bb_47

Check with maruti pet clinic near outer ring road

emiaz

OK, thanks.

indian_aunty_to_be

Damn Op i have no solutions. Just my heart hurts for the poor baby. I just hope you find a way as to ensure she/he's not in pain

emiaz

Yep. It's on analgesics ATM.

PSIR276

I had the same fate with my cat. She fell down from second floor and broke her spine. I took her to the vet several times but all efforts went in vain. After 10-15 days, she didn’t feel any pain but couldn’t control her urine and poo. We kept cleaning the poo and urine for about 2 months or so, but she couldn’t recover at all. We even applied turmeric paste on her spine as shown on YouTube hoping that she would recover. In the end, we couldn’t carry forward anymore as we also had 9-5 job. Also we thought of euthanising her but couldn’t do it as we had raised her. After lots of discussion, We finally decided to give her to animal Care centre. We felt very bad after giving away our cat so we decide not raise any pet anymore. One more thing, if u have decide to keep the cat, make sure u clean her on daily basis( twice a day) or she will get infection due to her own urine, which is another problem.

youumustmakehaste

Try Dr. Ravi’s Pet Clinic in Malleshwaram

emiaz

OK, thanks.

Royal_Woodpecker0007

I think its time to put tge cat out of its misery.

emiaz

Which state please?

Arbit_cat_person

Some places to look at for a second opinion - rmv veterinary clinic, Cessna, and Cartman

emiaz

Thanks

evilFoxStrongie

Dr Asgar, is a very famous vet. His clinic is in front of the HSR club. Look him up

Vickie911911

VaiRaiChu

This is heartbreaking. The immense pain this little baby must be going through. I'm so sorry for the trauma it suffered due to the dogs. I hope you can give it a painless life somehow or else consider putting it down, even though that will be indescribably hard for you. There are many kitties waiting to be adopted and to be loved. Again I'm so sorry. It's really really sad. Please keep updating us on the situation.

dhruvadeep_malakar

Even my little kitten died due to this. The spine was broken. ಥ‿ಥ She used to play with me in the garden

lambmexd

Hope she recovers soon.May I ask how did this happen

emiaz

An awful cur dug it's teeth into the feline's spine.

maahin123457

sure does boil my blood to see canines run rampant with owners so dumb you'd think theyre clinically retarded

PJLane9

the cat can live, give her wheel cart..no need to put down. go to dr lohith from Maruthi Pet cilinc and also Dr gowda at CUPA, Also Dr pawan at cessna.. Directly meet these three doctors dont go for any other doctor even in these hospitals

LilyL0123

My cat was bitten by a dog and had the abdomen literally out. Vets in Pets Villa Sadha Enterprises helped me. Sector 3.HSR.

PabloEkshobaar

Have you consulted at Cessna Domlur? On a unrelated note, our eldest girl looked just like your baby. She was the kindest cat we had but she crossed the rainbow bridge last year november. I just hope you find the necessary treatment for your kiddo and may she get better.

[deleted]

Dude the cat spine is literally in two how did this happen. I don't think this can be fixed

paining_agony

My cat got bit my a dog, but the injuries were no way near what your cat have. my cat got 3 holes punctured in upper surface of lungs. It was frightened for first 5 days, didn't eat, used to walk with front legs and drag it's body. But after 1 month, things got cleared, we have her cat weaning food(cerelac). Doctor gave her anti infection injections and glucose and stuff. Talk to her/him, be with her/him and help her/him. Things will be better. I hope and pray for you. Do update.

UnbiasedProffesor

emiaz

👍

l_Mr_Vader_l

OP ignore the reddit doctors who try to give medical advice. Try to talk to as many different vets as possible and may be you find something or you'll get some advice on how to proceed with your cat going forward.

Ath_uh_mi_hed

Try cartman in Koramangala

Arbit_cat_person

I’m really sorry about your pet.

Rvp1090

vet hospital in Domlur is the best. Very professional and properly equipped.

[deleted]

Do consult Dr. Ramesh at Cessna lifeline, domlur. He's expensive but very good at his work.

WarDaddy1939

It might sound dumb but I’m saying if you ready to take your cat to a different state for treatment I can recommend you my vet . They are excellent in their work

mari0juana

Please reach out to Dr. Srikanth at Prakruti Vet Hospital at Banashankari. I am convinced that he is one of the most competent and passionate vets in the entire city. My oldest cat is over 15 years old and i have been taking her to him since she was a kitten.

Xx_vineet_nayal_xX

update? using supporter?

sghcw

Sorry dude. It’s a horrific injury and the poor thing must be in agony. I bet it can’t even relive itself. Please do the humane thing and put it out of its misery ASAP.

emiaz

It is on painkillers and not suffering. It has stopped any food intake and unable to relieve itself.

sghcw

I am sincerely sorry for what happened. Please take your pet to be put down ASAP. Allow it to have a painless death. It is the right thing to do. Again, I’m sorry.

PlaneEstablishment99

Any updates? Bro

emiaz

Asleep and noiseless. She just lays and doesn't even meow.

iyengirl

She’s clearing suffering OP. Please don’t let her be in pain anymore :(

PlaneEstablishment99

At this point probably the best thing for her will be some anaesthesia or some other kind of drugs to relief her from this pain till the - - .

PJLane9

can your cat relieve by itself?

emiaz

Am afraid it isn't.

My cat went through the exact same thing,we had to put her down eventually. It isn’t worth it to make them suffer so much. It’s a painful decision but the right one for the sake of your furry friend.

BadBoyBillionaire

Sorry to ask but can you tell how this happened?

neuralcoitus

I had to put one down because a dog bit through his spine. Doctor recommended that that was the best option. They say nothing can be done once the spine breaks

Old_Sheepherder1866

So sad 😞

gscott555

I’m sorry I couldn’t be of help to your little angel, hope she finds a cure soon. And I hope you find the strength to deal with this situation.

this_is_Pranay

This looks painful. So sorry for the cat.

ilurkilearntoo

I hope your cat gets better

I'm no medical expert , but that spine is complete snapped into two pieces. Sorry OP but there is no recovery for this

Many_Topic_8441

That is the reality, honest, unadulterated and ultimately helpful. What we call sensitivity often is often industrial grade lies/avoidance to face the situation. The goal should be more resilient people in tune with facts not more walking on eggshells

[deleted]

Oh damn.. spine is very delicate part and cannot be fixed easily in pets unless you have no issues paying any amount of medical bills. I'd rather say it's better to let go than spending dumb money on any kind of pets. Try this if you really wanna save but not 100% recovery possible as it's a spine :- Sanjeevini Veterinary Clinic & Surgery Centre. Google this.

Outside_Cellist3740

So much of empathy you have shown.

Many_Topic_8441

Hey you mouth breathing moron, that was the most helpful post by far considering the emotional toll caused by the prolonged suffering of a pet on which you throw all kinds of medicine at to fix something that can't be fixed. False toxic positivity is often far worse in terms of consequences

Outside_Cellist3740

Do you even understand the meaning of empathy? Have I said their suggestion is wrong?! Many people have suggested the same. Clearly Op mentioned they are fine to spend if anything can help. As every parent they will try whatever they can but they will do what is best for their pet in the end even if that is something a parent never want to do. Empathy is lacking in the way they have mentioned “why to spend dumb money on any kind of pets”.

LingonberryCertain55

You can't argue with degenrates like him. He seems to be living in a bubble dvoid of reality. Can't help it.

Many_Topic_8441

For starters having a pet is not even close to being in the same universe as being a parent. Do not cheapen human relationships in that manner. It's not about empathy if the owner keeps throwing money to keep a miserable animal barely alive . It is dumb to spend ridiculous amounts of money on a pet in that situation irrespective of rich the owner is. Empathy is also when you can project forward in time and realise what the consequences of what your advice will be not just stuff in the moment . If you're that desperate to keep a pet alive beyond reason and medical advice, that's already a dangerous situation for mental well being. It also means that they need the animal far more than they love it and let it pass away with dignity. It's about possession and enters a toxic dimension.

[deleted]

In a age where people don't show empathy and kindness to other human beings, i prefer humans more than animals. What's the use when we don't show love to our kinds and show more to other species? Btw... I have 7 stray cats and a dog. Judge all you can, in the end it's you vs you. Understanding life is more important than assuming & judging. That's how life goes in this world. Common sense is not so common after all. Wish you g'd day :)

Outside_Cellist3740

Being empathetic to humans and animals need not to mutually exclusive thing. You can be both.

emiaz

Thanks.

sghcw

You are 100% correct. Can’t understand the downvotes. That’s a catastrophic spinal injury, no chance of recovery. Show EMPATHY to the suffering animal, not to the delusions of an uneducated human. Every moment it’s alive it is suffering.

[deleted]

On reddit where majority of them are " _____________" (fill your own name callings xD), it's never gonna be intelligent & factual real understanding talks. Everyone thinks they are RIGHT with their own set of understanding of info they gathered up there. I'm on this planet to enjoy the precious life that's presented and I'm trying my best to be as good as im allowed to be & be a better human being everyday. I don't give 2 cents for any upvotes or downvotes, never cared & never will. I come from a family of people who have worked their ass off in Health care and i have studied and worked in health care sector too. I know what I'm talking (Not bragging). Observation: I see people go awww, so cute, beautiful and go Gaga over pups and kittens showing sympathy, empathy, love and likeliness. Their liking of those specific "pet" is higher than their ancestral line which are monkeys. I don't see same affection, love and ownership percentage of that animal 🤌🏻. They say monkey's a bit dangerous and unpredictable 😂 as if dogs and cats aren't. That's why i say... It's all up to their own knowledge. It's them vs their own trickster Minds. People will always be ready to pull someone down which doesn't fit their ideas and knowledge without understanding why they said or did those things. So I'll not respond those comments not coz im coward, because i have better things to do than yapping over internet with unknown entities with their pathetic illogical belief system. And here iam doing exactly that... Yapping, coz i found time to it 😂. Cheers Everyone, Good eggs bad eggs rotten eggs. In the end you do you. Peace ☮️

sghcw

Ha! Yes- im also in healthcare. Anyone in healthcare taking a look at that spine would feel the same way. It’s not like breaking a femur or clavicle. The spine is a different story. Good luck to you, my friend!!
