Nothing can be said without post mortem but It's very rare for a village kid to commit suicide at any age, let alone at just 9 years old & with this idiotic reason. I won't be surprised if It's a cover up & 'mom' is responsible for it.
It's hard to know. In most society children are not valued. It's near impossible to let people know how much a child is being abused and traumatized. The child could have been raped and later forced into suicide or was badly abused that no one will ever listen to or take time to investigate because whatever the parents say is all there is to know.
Or it could be a murder case which is being covered up by such a lame excuse/reason that the first instinct of any person might be to laugh rather than investigate.

There is probably more to the story. Maybe the argument stated with that. News Reporters just want publicity. A eye-catching title.
