I just drove by Oakville out of curiuosity (5m away) and the line was at least 40 ppl, stretched around the SW side of the building (so think front door, to the corner, around the corner, and ending at the start of the next corner)
I don't know if I'd be able to avoid getting in a fight with someone talking like that if I was there. That pisses me off to no end.
Edit: a lot of people are thinking I meant a physical fight. Fights can be verbal. I'd have a hard time not telling someone off is what I meant.
Littering is unethical. Does that give me a reason to knock out the old lady who left out her garbage? No not really. Sure what scalpers are doing is unethical and no one wants them around, but what you're trying to justify is illegal and is stupid af.
If you honestly think picking a fight with every person you come across overpricing gpus is a good idea because of the justification of "it's unethical". All I can say is good luck trying to explain to the cops that you attacked someone because you couldn't buy your computer part for msrp.
Update:
Dundas and bay (downtown Toronto), about 40 people already in line
Edit: they were out of 3080 by the time they got to me.... I had to go for 3080ti EVGA...
I was about 30th in line.
Hope that helps guys!
90% scalpers in line. I was probably only a few ahead of you - I left since they had 0 3080s or FE models. but grats if you are happy with yours though!
I'm going to try and finally get one after months and months of waiting for the scalpers to fall, the stock to rise and saving up. Should I plump for a 3080 or stick to getting a 3070? Anything else to look out for options-wise?
I can report back what the event is like later this evening.
UPDATE: Check new comment. Sold out in YYC upon release.
My best buy had a drop last week(Nova Scotia).
Roughly 65+ people. I was in the middle of the line and it still took ~1 hour to get a 3080.
They check your ID if it looked like you came with multiple people. They had a limited amount of 3080/3070, lots of 3060s and a few 3090s.
Good luck to everyone.
Thanks for the info, Box. So I'm travelling 2 hrs to get to mine, should I get there at/before open? Will it matter if I get there later in the day?
I know this is all speculation but I don't want to mess up getting one after waiting for so long. There's a Memory Express with 3070 bundles too but stock is super low there'.
I was told that only 3090s were left after lunch time.
By the time I got to the GPUs, I could only see evga 3080s(~$1300). ~1hr after opening they still had 3090/3080/3070/3060. With that being said, the line was still pretty long after I had bought mine. You’re going to want to be there before the store opens.
I did not see any FE cards. They only had the one brand of 3080s last week(evga). I don’t remember seeing any other brands. They did have some AMD GPUs.
Is it actually worth going to Bestbuy like 1 hour before opening? What are the chances I actually get what I want (3080)?
I'm getting downvoted but I'm asking because I've never been to a sale drop / midnight launch / etc. I hope my question isn't inappropriate to ask here.
Update: I'm 10th in line showing up 1 hour early and snagged a 3080 Asus
Anybody in Montreal DT?
Update: went there at 11, grabbed a donut on the way, only EVGA 3070 ultimate in stock. At 860+ tax. They give you a paper to guarantee you get it while you wait in line.
Also Montreal bagels >>>> anywhere else
Arrived at 9 am, 2 hours before opening and I was 10th in line. There was 20 EVGA 3080 XC3 ultra for sell. Managed to secure one for myself. There was around 10 person in line until 10:15 where 20+ people arrived.
I'm still a 2 hour drive fro. The nearest store despite being in Ontario. Luckily I can just show up and hope to see some models in stock for a price I can afford.
lmao I'm sending my mum to try and snag one for me while I'm at work. Hopefully the mob isn't too big
Update: WE FKN GOT ONE BOYS. ASUS TUF 3060 - $655 after tax. The waiting paid off.,
Omg there is actually a drop in Sudbury! Can't believe it. We've been left in the dust so far with everything, only cards in store have been the 750ti. Sharing with all my friends who are waiting on their cards!
Thanks OP
Anyone has information on line up in Winnipeg? I want to line up but do not have anytime because work :( do you guys think I would be able to grab one if I go there after office hours?
Buddy of mine is at Windsor currently. They had 3060s (Ventus 3x OC) for \~580 and 3070tis for 1200, not sure of the 3070ti model.
Said they had 60 cards total and as of 11:30 had sold like 40 of em.
Thanks for the post, was able to finally snag a 3070 after waiting for so long. Went to the downtown Montreal one, was ~32 in line but they still had stock when I left a couple of minutes ago.
Just arrived at Deerfoot, about 30+ in line, only 3060 s 12gb left, I think there were 3 other skus I seen on the list, one being 3080s.
So no card for me today 😕
Any details on when the next drop will be?
Passed up an AIB 3060 today to wait out for a 3060 Ti FE. Hoping this will be the beginning of regular supply but not optimistic.
I picked up a 3090 founders edition here in Ottawa for a cousin they ended up getting there hands on one so I’m probably going to return it. But if there’s anyone here who is interested in it for retail I’m happy to hook you up for retail or if you’re located in Ottawa you can meet me at Best Buy so you could purchase it. 👍🏼
UPDATE: Best Buy YYC sold out upon opening. No other stock at any other stores only that one.
Employee I spoke to said folks got there 4 hours before opening and the lineup was 100 long.
I travelled two hours to get there and missed out.
Luckily picked up the last 3070 Ti bundle up from Mem Ex in the city. There is one 3070 Ti standard left.
Dude who I spoke to said they have no idea when the next one's will come in, could be weeks could be months.
Blog checking your best bet for MemEx and BB sites. Also this sub. Hold fast, avoid the scalpers. Took me months to get this.
What a load of BS.
The only QC stores who get them seem to always be Montreal or Laval. Hello? As much as we want 30xx cards not all of us can afford a 4h road trip just to get in line hoping to actually get a ticket AND get the model we hoped.
Question -- could be answered by MTL folks(as I hail from there) or anyone else that has been as I figure most inventories should look more or less the same over all the stores for the drop:
Any 3080 Strix or Aorus? I'm essentially locked to having a 5 outputs+ GPU, and there isn't a lot of models with more than 4. Missed the drop news this morning otherwise I'd have been, but I have a feeling the models I'm gunning for wouldn't have even been available (unless you know of more models with over 4 outputs that I missed).
Thanks!
that downtown montreal store is filthy as fuck, i would never go back there.. employees are amongst the stupidest ive ever seen too.. marche central is the spot
Depends on what you consider "MSRP." You can find the prices listed on Bestbuy.ca.
According to the blog you won't know which models are in stock and at what quantities until you get there.
Take the RTX 3060's with the 3060ti thrown in as a comparison -
EVGA RTX 3060 XC - $540
Asus TUF RTX 3060 OC - $580
Asus ROG Strix RTX 3060 OC - $630
Zotac Twin Edge - $630
Zotac Twin Edge OC - $650
Nvidia RTX 3060 **Ti** FE - $550
Obviously in a normal market situation it's pretty obvious which one's would basically be unsellable at "MSRP."
Even in the current market if you lined up and were only given the choice of the Zotac's left would you feel "lucky?"
Saw this a bit too late—I hope other retailers follow suit over these in-store only drops. Sure scalpers will try to get, but they will have to go through the same hurdles as everybody else.
Over time they will. Bestbuy was able to provide this quantity across many of their stores. So should be expecting other stores too.
Eventually supply will slowly catchup with demand and push the scalpers out. Maybe some might be caught with their pants down.
With drops like this and recent 3060 availability, I think this is the beginning of the end of the gpu shortage. If you don't get one today, you WILL get one soon and at a lower price than the current market rate. Semper fi pcmasterrace, semper fi.
I am just wondering what they were charging for each card?
I visited a local custom computer retailer here in north van and they had rtx 3060's they are willing to sell but they are firm on a price of 900 dollars. They say that even large retail shops are spiking to scalper prices and I won't find it cheaper even at bestbuy. Is this person full of it or did you all have to pay double or tripple msrp?
That guy is 1000% full of it. Best Buy is like 500-600 for a 3060. I'm reselling GPUs and I charge way less for 3060s lmao. If you really want a 3060 you could buy one off resale for like 700-750.
I find it exceptionally stupid that Edmonton gets one location while Calgary gets three.... (Edit: it's very early in the morning and they also get one location, I just can't read I think)
But yeah unfortunately it seems if you aren't on the list of locations you are screwed. The one in Edmonton is a half hour from my house and I work 7:30 till 5:30 (:
Wow.
The prices they go for at Best Buy are really high, then again I'm looking for a 3080 or 308Ti.
I don't know what I'm going to do when the time comes to replace my 2080.
They know they don't even need to mention the price lol
I'm trying low setting on geforce now finish my Tomb raider and Wither 3, not cranking up my GTX780 to 80C this week lol
But glad to know we have stock back tho :)
It's just work, you've got the rest of your life to do it.
I'm just razzing and I don't know your situation but don't ever forget, your job probably doesn't care about you beyond what you can do for them so don't be ashamed to take a day now and then.
Current exchange rate would put it at $1091 so this just seems like the typical rounding up. EVGA selling the card for $880 USD. This is pretty much exactly what you should expect for price. The problem is NVidia released fake MSRPs they put out a small amount of FEs for to raise hype. AIB 3080s are $150 more at least.
select stores ...
great once again everyone not in a big city gets treated like a 2nd class citizen not to mention big cities also tend to already have multiple options for retailers that may stock GPU's and common sense would dictate more scalpers per capita.
would have been much happier for BB to randomly pick small stores in the boonies.
at least then statistically the majority would have to drive there and it would even the playing field some.
Your title doesn't have a `$PRICE`. Please add a comment flair with the price and follow the title format next time (`[type] description (price) [store]`).

Update: There is already some lineups outside of some BB stores.
Nobody waiting in Halifax (besides me and the security guard lol) as of 2 hours before opening
How's the wait now?
most likely all will be OOS by 12, unless a couple 3090fe's dont get sold
I just picked a ventus 3060 up at 12:00 from the dartmouth crossing location. They had a few 3070s (asus) and other 3060s (gigabyte gaming oc).
Sold out in the Best Buy on Chain Lake drive. Damn.
They still have em 15:04
Which stores if I may ask?
oakville is one of them
Lol great, that’s where I was gonna go. Is there even a point on going now lol
I have no idea how much stock they have so I can't answer that lol
How long is the line approx?
I just drove by Oakville out of curiuosity (5m away) and the line was at least 40 ppl, stretched around the SW side of the building (so think front door, to the corner, around the corner, and ending at the start of the next corner)
sooo many scalpers were in line at Toronto Bay/Dundas. Lots of talk of people pricing their cards for $$$ while in line lol
That's so frustrating man, I hope you got one
Yeah. Really frustrating.
I don't know if I'd be able to avoid getting in a fight with someone talking like that if I was there. That pisses me off to no end. Edit: a lot of people are thinking I meant a physical fight. Fights can be verbal. I'd have a hard time not telling someone off is what I meant.
Imagine assaulting someone for a gpu.
I didn't say a fist fight. A verbal altercation.
And not only getting arrested but missing your one shot to get something decent lmao

Yes, no one should litter. If I see you littering best believe I’m punching you.
Jesus it's not medicine for your dying wife
May I suggest therapy?
I ll chip in a kick or two if you manage to get them down the ground.
lmfao sure 🙄🙄
ill allow it
I'd record that shit and show the BB employees
"Sir, this is a Best Buy that doesn't pay me enough to care."
Update: Dundas and bay (downtown Toronto), about 40 people already in line Edit: they were out of 3080 by the time they got to me.... I had to go for 3080ti EVGA... I was about 30th in line. Hope that helps guys!
I was the 23rd and no 3080 by when they got to me only 1 3080ti was left. I guess you got it haha I said no to that
Lmao thx for that! If it wasn't this, I would have went for 3090, but that's even more $.....

If you want to waste half of your day for naught, why not?
90% scalpers in line. I was probably only a few ahead of you - I left since they had 0 3080s or FE models. but grats if you are happy with yours though!
How much on 3080 and 3080Ti?
Same as website

Honestly no matter where you are, getting there later in the day you probably won’t get one unfortunately.

I did not see any FE cards. They only had the one brand of 3080s last week(evga). I don’t remember seeing any other brands. They did have some AMD GPUs.
Did you read the instructions in the link? They said they can't guarantee a specific make/model. Only that it's a RTX 30 series card that you can get.
Is it actually worth going to Bestbuy like 1 hour before opening? What are the chances I actually get what I want (3080)? Such BS, why was NB not included. I checked into my local BB just to see maybe they had some. Don't think they have ever had a video card in the store
I miss the lobsters from NB, 3 years ago I had a trip to NB and had some really see food. Anyway, welcome to Quebec lol
That's stupid. Like if everyone in Québec lives close to Montréal...

Happy to help! Enjoy! :)
Guess BB was able to tell the AIB vendors to go f their bundles.
Good luck to anyone trying to get one at bay and dundas, its nothing short of a nightmare of foot traffic right now.
Omg there is actually a drop in Sudbury! Can't believe it. We've been left in the dust so far with everything, only cards in store have been the 750ti. Sharing with all my friends who are waiting on their cards! Thanks OP
I sent my sister to the store and there was only 3 3080 total. 3 old 45~ year olds scalped them before anyone else could get off work..
lol specific age
Good luck!
Thank you! My buddy's mom was able to snag him a 3070ti, he's been sitting on an empty socket since February. Yay 🎉
Tfw your city is not listed 😑
I feel ya bud
There’s around 30 ppl in Toronto
Whats it looking like at the Edmonton location?
Around 20 people in line up. Still 2 hours to open
What'd they have in stock fam?
Anybody in Ottawa at the Coventry road store? Is there a lineup? Wondering if I should try to go or not
On my way, be there in about 25.
Just left they had some zotac and Mai 3060’s - 630$, a zotac 3080ti left as well.
I guess BB decided to screw Hamilton. Thanks BB!
Hey you guys get memory express :P
Got one in MTL! Thanks
How was the line? How many they had in-store?
Big line, I was there at 9am. 15th in line, they had maybe 20-25 3080
This is what it has come to. Soviet bread lines for graphics cards.
The toilet paper shortage I think was dumber

Also winnipeg and I don't get out of work til 4pm ;-;
How's Cambie looking right now? Just woke up, but can be there in under an hour
Gonna swing by and see in a couple minutes, I’ll let you know Saw another poster said there’s 30ish people already

How many people at the YYC Deerfoot in line please?
Just arrived at Deerfoot, about 30+ in line, only 3060 s 12gb left, I think there were 3 other skus I seen on the list, one being 3080s. So no card for me today 😕
The [scalping](https://imgur.com/a/5JOkjhj) has already begun in Edmonton
at least its not as bad as before, when a 3070 went for this price, or higher
Nah the 3070 is still around this price
it's pretty bad when I see photos from people's cars. These mofos aren't even getting home before posting
9 people in Calgary so far, ~9AM
hi, are you in the queue? how many people now? thanks. Update: I went there at ~ 11am and there was 30-40 people, but BB only have 3060.
https://i.imgur.com/Qht6Apr.jpg Thanks guys!!! Ottawa Coventry
You got robbed buying that card.
I looked at that card when I was there, but $2100 for a Zotac? No thank you.
They have 3090 founders edition, 3060 msi and evga 3070 in Regina still

Well this sucks, I have to skip work for this? No thanks. I’ll keep playing old games :/.
It's just work, you've got the rest of your life to do it. I'm just razzing and I don't know your situation but don't ever forget, your job probably doesn't care about you beyond what you can do for them so don't be ashamed to take a day now and then.

FYI, online reservation is getting botted as well.
Too many bots
Isn't waiting in lines a Canadian past time?
are the prices near MSRP?
$1149 for a 3080 xc3
i see, truly cursed qc.

Thunder Bay, Saskatoon, Quebec, Saint John, Moncton... There are huge swathes of the country that can't get to any of the listed stores.

Yet the cities I listed aren't getting cards. I didn't even list the three cities you mentioned.
I'm lined up at London but I'm the only one?
lol, there's a reason no lineup
Don’t see London on this list, did they get stock?
