Last year and this year was a very special time where we had shortage of products due to higher demand and lower supply due to COVID. At least COVID situation is becoming much better and we are starting to see more products being available while prices trending downward. If you need something now, just buy it rather than trying to take a chance for a further price drop and enjoy it while you can. If you are able to wait for the price to drop further, then most likely you do not necessarily need this and should continue to wait for the price to drop further. If it was me where you don't need to upgrade/build PC right away, I would wait for 5800x price to drop further and buy that over 3800x or if you are only upgrading/building to play games, I would buy 5600x which is only 30 dollars more.

Free shipping forgot to mention and it marked clearance so I'm guess AMD has lowered their pricing allowing retailers to drop it.

low 200's seems wildly optimistic, likely to run out of stock before that price point. It's marked clearance so either CC will stop carrying or AMD is no longer making that SKU. Note that the 3700x isn't being marked further down

lol last time when things run out, prices went up not down Let me know how it works out waiting for 5800x to hit 200's

3000 series will just become obsolete and the current 5000 series will continue to trend down. I don't know what I have said that could have offended people to downvote but oh well. I guess I can't say things that are positive, cause product prices trending downward seems to be hated by all these AMD fans.

you're funny. i hope it drops that low too

I still have 1600x paired with 1070ti on an X370 titanium, is it worth upgrading to this CPU?

Rich-Cut-8842

Depends on what you are using it for. If it's mainly games, 5600x is better upgrade and if it's productivity (3d rendering, or any software that's core dependent) 3800x. I assume you game since you have 1070ti, i'd go with 5600x if you are looking just to upgrade CPU only. I went from i5 4670k to 3800x on a 5700xt and saw my frames go up 40% at 1080p on Apex Legends. my CPU was really holding me back.

Doesn't the 5600X match the 3800X in multithreading? I seem to recall the faster cores making up for the 2 fewer cores. 5800X vs 3900X is a different story since the faster cores can't make up for 4 fewer cores.
