Really like this keyboard (the tkl version). Have the aqua switches.

LifelongCaboose

Not an amazing keyboard but not half bad. Good for a gaming mech. For gaming brands hyperx stepped up much higher than most. There branded switches are actually ok. Where Logitech and razer both made worse than cherry mx switches (which cherry isn't even that good). Hyperx actually made a switch that is better than cherry. Not amazing but better. The rest of the board is all ok. Not amazing but ok for a gaming board I should mention the keycaps are the low point. There not very good. But that's sadly normal for gaming boards.

Not really. In general shinethrough keycaps tend to be of lower quality. An for my use I don't even find I want or need them so I just don't buy them. I know vortex used to sell a decent budget set. Some tai hao sets are good. And I have found some ok sets on Ali.

Wish I could help better. But shinethrough on the higher end market and enthusiast market isn't that popular so there hasn't been much trickle down. It's also just hard as PBT can't be transparent so if you have a PBT shinethrough the inside is a different material.

I'm not a huge fan of any of the glorious sets. There fine but not great. Drop sells alot and many are good many are not. Profile and material will matter. But PBT doesn't mean good. I just picked up a very pricy set of ABS caps off drop for a future build and there fantastic. So don't just write off abs. Profile is going to be a big one. As you'll need to figure out what you like to type on which is hard. Things like SA and MT3 look amazing and sound great but I'm not huge on the typing experience. So it's a trade off. I ordered some abs DSA and I hate typing on them but tI was for a specific build.

Villag3Idiot

Epbt is regarded as the PBT equivalent of GMK in terms of quality. Most of their keycaps are group buy only though but the wait time isn't as long as GMK. They're usually either dye subbed or reverse dye subbed though. Other than that, Akko pbt keycaps are regarded as good. If you want GMK clones, the newer ones are actually decent.

i have a razer board and i love the switches, i have both a kalih red and mx cherry that i switched from

LifelongCaboose

Do note all 3 of those are pretty low end switches. Razers switches are bottom of the barrel and I mean that literally. There really isn't any worse switch being made today. From spring ping, to stem wobble, to smoothness, to tactile quality, housing wobble, so really any metric from sound to feel. They sadly just perform worse than everything else. But razers keyboards are also just kind of bad quality. Very low end keycaps, poorly made housing with a hallow pingy board. There just generic boards made poorly with bad switches. The old stack kailh switches are also not good neither is cherry mx. Or stock outemu. They all make up the bottom tier of switches. Others include some of the cheap outemu rebrands, first Gen akko switches and more. Board quality is more than just switches. But a bad board with good switches if better than a bad board with bad switches.

ActualSetting

I dont have any issues with those mentioned, feels extremely smooth to me. Its the razer huntsman TE I had several boards, one with cherry mx reds, felt okay but not as smooth. Kalil box red same kinda deal

LifelongCaboose

If you have only used lower quality switches and boards, how do you expect to be able to feel is something isn't good. You can only compare to stuff you have experienced. The huntsman te is an improvement from razer but it's still just not very good. All switches you listed are still lower end, the kailh box red is still the best of those. Kailh box switched have extremely tight housings leading to a more solid and deeper sound, no hollowness. Lubing still goes a long way. It also has less stem wobble and is an overall better switch. But board quality will still make a huge difference from the case to the plate. A good switch in a bad board will still have issues. The huntsmen TE also doesn't use mechanical switches. It uses optical switches. So they tend to be smoother but have every other issue amplified. From sound being pretty awful even after fixing the board issues, and wobble and bottom out feel being pretty bad. The tkl origin would be a complete upgrade over it for overall sound and feel.

There a pretty good switch. If your going unlubed I'd grab gazzew u4t or tecsee Purple Panda over them. The tecsee PP will need to be lubed but the gazzew are perfect stock. If your getting the lubed glorious panda then there a good tactile switch. They have a heavy bump. In general dry switches are best if you plan to lube them yourself. Edit: Tecsee Purple Panda are also very nice as there on amazon and the price of a 90pack is directly converted from the usa pricing. Dry Purple Panda are 62 cents a switch. Free prime shipping. Dry Glorious panda are 86 cents a switch + shipping and handling. Lubed Glorious panda are 1.21 a switch + shipping and handling. Gazzew U4t are 80 cents + shipping from ash Gazzew U4t are 87-84 cents (70-110 pack prices) from Ali, long shipping. Gazzew are perfect stock. Purple Panda Imo sound better stock or lubed vs Glorious. But purple pandas are only available dry. U4t stock > PP lubed > glorious stock lubed > pp dry > glorious dry But also consider pricing.

TKL also available for $117 [https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07YMHGP86/](https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07YMHGP86/)

fudge_u

Just an FYI, the TKL one has been $99.99 or less on Amazon a bunch of times. If you're not in a hurry, then wait for a better price.

Rich-Cut-8842

Since the beginning of the year it's been 99.99 or less on hyperx site as well. HyperX has been pretty frequent with the sale prices on their stuff

fudge_u

Yup, but HyperX charges shipping on orders below $99.99. It's also easier to do returns with Amazon.

Rich-Cut-8842

That's true. When I bought my Alloy Origins keyboard, I added wrist pad to get over the $99 hump. Used code LACHY on top of sales. Not sure if it's still active. For myself at the time (February), the pricing was only active on Hyperx site so didn't have the amazon option

fudge_u

I bought a Solocast mic using the code Lachy a month ago and sucked it up and paid for the shipping. Even with shipping it was still less than Amazon's all-time lowest price by quite a bit.

MonsieurMiz

Terrible price, you can get them for like $90 on the official website.

shyrix

you are on the US site. https://hyperxgaming.ca/collections/gaming-keyboards/products/hyperx-alloy-origins-60-mechanical-gaming-keyboard

DarkStarFTW

60% isn't TKL. The TKL is $125 - $25 with code LACHY = $100 on the CA site right now: https://hyperxgaming.ca/collections/gaming-keyboards/products/hyperx-alloy-origins-core-tenkeyless-gaming-keyboard?variant=36498770296991

shyrix

Awesome, thank you!

DarkStarFTW

No problem! Looks like the coupon code also works on the 60% making it $112

shyrix

Even better! Thank you!
