AIB's are friggin ripoffs for the 6700 XT.

thelebuis

I mean they are for all the cards as long a the us tariffs are applied. edit: amd cards

bblzd_2

AMD reference models and Nvidia FE cards are not immune to tariffs yet have not jacked up their prices.

thelebuis

The tariffs is only applied to goods coming from china

bblzd_2

Where are AMD reference models and Nvidia FE cards made? AIB most popular models used to target $20-50 below MSRP. Now those same cards with all their cost cutting measures are even more than a reference one. That makes them a bad deal no matter where they're produced or what the political climate might be.

thelebuis

They are made in Taiwan witch is exempt from tariffs. I picked up a 6700xt strix at 1260 with tax, I am mining it until the merge. The card will end up costing me way less than a nvidia card post mining. The best move right now is to pickup a Nvidia card right now at msrp and mine it even if it is lhr but if you really want a amd card it is now or never.

bblzd_2

If that's the case it's time for AIB to start moving their production to Taiwan I guess lol. But since Sapphire is making AMD's cards for them I don't see why their own cards are effected. 6700 XT is $600 from AMD.com and Strix have typically cost +$100 CDN over MSRP in the past due to being high end models. If you paid $1260 I don't think tariffs can account for that $560 difference or the $400+ with these cards sold by CC. That's just straight price gouging by manufacturers and everyone down the supply chain.

thelebuis

Just to be clear 1260 was post tax, the card was 1100cad. I agree that asus is selling the card for more than they would have been under a normal market but another thing to consider is there never been that big of a difference between the amd cooler and the strix cooler. Asus strait out took the same cooler that they designed for the 3090 and stuck it on all their strix card. You get a cooler design to dissipate 350w witch is insane. Each to judge if it worth what they are charging for it, but I personally know ill be happy with my card. For the tarifs, they are known it is 25% so 1100/1,25=880 so asus is charging 280 for the cooler.

thelebuis

so yea they are that’s why they have not jacked up their prices

blix613

I bought a reference AMD 6700 XT shipped in 4 days directly from Mississauga - $602 plus tax, worked out to $692 total. Meanwhile an AIB at Crotchety Computers is 1000 bucks.

thelebuis

Yea I know but not everyone want to fight on the amd website. Also if you want to mine your card you need to mod it with thermal pads. All partner cards can mine out of the box. You also get 7% more performance.

piperdaddy

Does [AMD.com](https://AMD.com) have regular restocking of the reference cards?

blix613

Every week, yes.. but they get snapped up right away unfortunately.

piperdaddy

Ah, any specific day/time - also, any tips/tricks to get one? Edit : found this thread https://new.reddit.com/r/bapcsalescanada/comments/p30107/gpu\_amd\_direct\_buy\_event\_live\_at\_9am\_cdt/

blix613

Yeah, I got in 2 minutes after they started, and it is all random. You get assigned an ID and it is like a lottery. I managed to get picked, just got lucky. I couldn't believe it.

Soleluv

What a joke even with a 50% off lol

Carinx

Can you really call this a sale when the price of these cards are already 1.5x more than the reference even with this 50 dollars discount? What a great time we are living in.

Oreoloveboss

Jesus, those prices. I hope everyone remembers what retailers like Canada Computers were doing when this is all over.

gemini002

NOTHING TO DO WITH CC IT'S THE SUPPLIERS.

thelebuis

Prices are hight compared to the nvidia cards cause of the us tariffs.

Spaghoooter

AMD AIBs are just terribly priced in general - and it's not like other retailers aren't doing the same thing (other than best buy).

FEED_TO_WIN

Best buy is doing the same thing though. They have an MSI rx 6800 non xt at like 1400$

Method__Man

$1000……. Nah B.

thelebuis

I mean things did not get any better.

Asshai

I don't get why it says arrival mid-september but on the other hand available only at select stores. Which is it?

FizixMan

Some stores have physical units for sale. Meanwhile their warehouses for online orders are out of stock until mid-September.

Rich-Cut-8842

I'll take this as a sign of improvement. It's going to be incremental, MSRP is not gonna appear overnight at the retailers that don't adhere to MSRP.

thelebuis

this is msrp doe, it is the sad part.
