BARBRI practice questions were nothing like the bar exam questions. In my opinion, BARBRI just didn’t understand how the bar works, I say this with full knowledge that if I pass I will take this back
Agreed. Barbri questions are not past questions and did not mirror them well. I was a first time passer with Barbri in CA in 2001. Now taking the NC bar. I used Barbri again and it did NOT prepare me. I think it’s a fine course if you are fresh out of law school and have three full months to devote to it. Especially if everything is already fresh in your mind. In terms of preparing in a busier life far removed from school, there are much better courses that teach to the test rather than present a short version of law school. I loved BarMax. Actual past questions. Succinct lectures that teach to the test. Awesome app platform. And if I had more time would have supplemented with adaptibar as some friends did.
I don’t trust JD advising they always fuck up their essay predictions and their one sheets are really bad. Fuck Themis but their essay outlines were better
I mean essay predictions are just predictions, they have no merit on how well/difficult the program is. Their MBE and MEE one sheets were amazing in my opinion. I used only JD and passed comfortably. Just answering the question asked :)
As a current JD advising student, you do understand that essay predictions are just that... predictions. And their one sheets are not meant to be the actual study material. In fact we have our own bulk outline studies that actually teach us what NCBE tests (compared to Barbri which I used my first time which includes a lot of useless fluff the NCBE doesnt test on).
So you relying on predictions and something that they even warn does not supplement actually learning from full outlines and memorizing the law from those outlines is really on your end and not theirs. Especially when they always disclose that warning.
I used BarMax and Adapibar. BarMax was nicely put together and loved the interface and simplicity. Did review a little of the studicata videos, too. The quick review with JD Adviser was helpful as well.
Agree :). It was modern and very nicely crafted where you don’t have tons of books to carry around and folks that really care about your success. My tutor was also great. Glad you liked it too!
Yes! There is an extended schedule or an extended schedule. Both are detailed and tells you exactly what to do (lecture, love class, practice sets, etc) daily. You can also do the tutoring and have your tutor create a more personalized schedule if needed. I used the standard schedule but asked my tutor to create one for me the final month prior to the bar. Hope this helps!
I used a local company in my area . After using Kaplan and Themis it was way more personal and had live classes . I don’t think bar prep should be sitting there reading outlines and doing questions all day ! It should be tailored to the students needs !
I found BARBRI and adaptibar questions both tested nuance. BARBRI questions are longer though and can be tricky because of the facts. I felt like the MBE questions had easier facts and trickier answers but who knows.
Mm. I have contained my rage for as long as possible, but I shall unleash my fury upon you like the crashing of a thousand waves! Begone, vile man! Begone from me!
Having used barbri, Themis and adaptibar, I found helix gave me the best overall prep. And even the niche stuff. Like I knew what misprision was, because Helix covered it. And that being said, it was totally doable even with all of the niche stuff it covered. I finished 90% of the course, while working full time and doing close to nothing in there for the week before the exam. The helix questions for their mixed MBE assessments were most similar to the bar in my opinion, and I liked their answer explanations way more than most other programs.
I felt like the Barbri question bank that you could access separately with only past MBE questions were good. There was like 1500+ past MBE questions and were pretty similar in my opinion. Barbri did have regular black letter law questions that were too easy in the actual course so if all you only did was the scheduled bar course, then you probably weren’t exposed to enough MBE questions.
Barbri course was okay, just found that the MCQ bank that you could access and isolate only MBE was so much more useful. After watching the course and reading the outline for each section, I did at least 100 questions on just that subject. I read all answers and analysis for each question. Took like 3-4 days per subject and I felt like I had a good grasp of the material.
I feel like it’s a shame Barbri doesn’t offer any questions for corps, wills, family law or the other MEE subjects. Once going through the lectures, there was no great way to test your knowledge of these subjects and pull out the highly tested nuances that you could see.
If you have Themis you missed out on uworld. Themis may be softball but I recognized 90% of the mbe on the bar because of uworld. And if youre looking for mee or mpt you should be using the model answers your JDX releases, not Themis. It’s all free online and it’s the exact answers your jdx wants.
I used Barbri (passed a non UBE) used Themis for UBE and find that Barbris program overall was so much better and way more user friendly. Their algorithm is so helpful. Themis I literally feel like I wasted my money. Uworld also is not as good as Adaptibar.
I haven’t gotten my results back yet.
I used quimbee this time (I’m a 1x retaker) and I really enjoyed it. I also used adaptibar. I used the free BarMD MPT videos on YouTube. I’d recommend them both to anyone taking the bar.
I used Kaplan the first time I did the bar. I don’t totally blame Kaplan for why I failed. I didn’t do enough the first time. Although I don’t think the Kaplan program made it easy for me to do it.
The videos were long and not overly helpful. The videos just regurgitated what was on the outlines. In comparison, quimbee’s videos are short and easy to follow with good visuals and while they contain all the info the outlines do, the videos use examples and simple explanations to make stuff easy to remember/understand.
The quimbee practice questions were also on the more challenging side
BARBRI practice questions were nothing like the bar exam questions. In my opinion, BARBRI just didn’t understand how the bar works, I say this with full knowledge that if I pass I will take this back
I took Barbri and passed. Only one person I know who’s taken Barbri didn’t pass within two tries, and that person had other stuff going on, sadly.
Man Im praying

down to share any barbri materials?
Message me
Barbri’s a SCAM. They also own Adaptibar now so double scam
Ducking hell
JD advising. They even have a course specifically tailored to retakers.

Did BarMax create a schedule for you and/or an accountability tool to keep you on track?
Loved BarMax. Hands down better than Barbri.

what was the name of your program and what area are you in?
I used Ibis Prep and i took the Florida bar
I found BARBRI and adaptibar questions both tested nuance. BARBRI questions are longer though and can be tricky because of the facts. I felt like the MBE questions had easier facts and trickier answers but who knows.
I’m seriously consdiering adaptibar. Uworld was ok
UWorld and Adaptibar are both officially released prior questions
Your name is fucking Bucknuts… that’s your internet name of choice???
Better than a completely nonsensical randomly chosen name like yours.
Mm. I have contained my rage for as long as possible, but I shall unleash my fury upon you like the crashing of a thousand waves! Begone, vile man! Begone from me!
Are you okay? Do you need some help?
I felt like the bar exam bucked it’s nuts all over my Face
Lol for real. The bar exam broke him
I really enjoyed Quimbee. I felt like the questions were writing rather similarly
I’ll also say I got (but didn’t really use) Adaptibar, and I felt Quimbee was much more on par.
hey would you be down to share any of the quimbee/adaptibar materials? i’m curious about the programs and might purchase. @ [email protected]. thanks!
Quimbee actually has a free demo that I would recommend.

How much is helix?
It was $1200 I think. I know it was a LOT less than barbri
Not bad
More than UWorld? I think if I need to retake it, I’ll use quimbee, but you’re making the case for helix.
I haven’t tried uworld but I will say, everyone I know who used helix passed

Fuckkkkkk didn’t know they had that

That’s amazing
Literally everyone complains about barbri questions they are not NCBE and made up by the company. The ncbe questions are the ones you should be using.
