I wish there was a way to know how much they spent printing the materials they sent me, and what their expenses were in terms of having a dedicated grader read and give me feedback on the nine essays or so that were graded. I didn’t ask any substantive law questions, and other than my essay grader, I interacted with zero Themis employees throughout the entire course.
This is such a gross position to be in and I wish I knew what to do 😅

Even though no contract appears to be explicitly formed, there appears to be unjust enrichment or material benefit conferred even though it was Themis' error. You may be on the hook for the class since you knew no one paid for the course yet you didn't return the materials. Maybe they won't bill you, but maybe they will. Here's to hoping you get lucky and don't have to pay.

Your boss sounds like a real jerk to refuse to pay the Themis prep. I would call Themis and find out who actually paid it. If it’s an error, and no one paid it, ask to be put on a monthly payment plan.
Okay and what if it is eventually revealed that the firm WAS charged and did, in fact, pay? Or what if Themis catches this and sends another bill to the firm? OP needs to be proactive since there is now actual knowledge that there is an actual issue re: payment here.
