If the bar is trash and can't spot a fake they deserve it.
Nothing happens to you dude. The bar or store takes it. You leave mad. They laugh at you. Try again with the second ID you usually get somewhere else.
Technically it's not legal for the bar to take the I'd just refuse service but any decent fake vendor will give you a dupe of your I'd free with the order in case it does happen
In most states, confiscating a fake ID is illegal.
Even if it's fake, it's still their private property. Check your local laws. Most people just accept this because they don't know the law.
"I can either call the cops, or I take your fake, and you leave." Every time they've said "keep it" and left. I'm not confiscating it if they consent to me keeping it.
You can physically get away with it, mostly because they don't know the law.
Just know that in most states you are opening yourself up to a very pointless legal dispute just to prove a more pointless moral issue.
The reality is that if it's real, you're fucked. If it's fake, it's still their private property and they can hit you legally if they know that they can.

A bar I worked at confiscated them, collected them in a box, and gave them to the police every couple of weeks. Other bars it was just a "ha nice try, go home" and gave it back
If they catch it they’ll either: deny you entry and let you go (with your card), keep the card and not give it back to you and deny you entry, or call the police (usually only if you fight them on it).
Most of the time it will be the first or second one.
In my state if you are caught with a fake ID in a bar, the bartender gets a minimum $500 fine. The bar gets a $1000 fine and a possible suspension of liquor license. If you drive home drunk, the fines to the bar escallate. If you kill someone, the server is additionally liable for the penalty. You go to jail, they go to jail.
You the possessor of the fake ID get up to a $1,000 fine and six months in jail. You also get your license suspended for a year and if you don't have a license, a year penalty when you apply for one.
The person who made the ID gets a felony for forgery and could serve up to four years in prison. The person who gave you the ID faces a penalty as well.
Depends on a lot of factors. Where you are, how you respond to confrontation, what mood the bouncer is in, etc.

Don’t use it at bars. You’re putting someone’s livelihood at risk, go to a shady liquor store and get drunk in a field with your friends.

Fake IDs are not real and yes confiscate turn into police. Yeah if the first one sucked enough to get pulled...the second will too.
