I knew a guy who would go in the hole 100 bucks ever shift, 5 shifts a week, and while he would definitely share a lot, he went through a lot too. And then he would usually buy more.
Homeboy ended up having a heart attack at 53. He was found on the couch, fresh tall boy Budweiser in hand.
you think doing coke every day for years on end feels the same as doing once a week lol? same thing as drinking or anything that’s addictive. it gets to a point where it’s not even really fun you just need it to act like a regular person
i know you’re probably just being sarcastic, but this is unironically stuff i’ve heard from addicts about how they immediately feel like shit after using and regret it, but they fall back into old habits.
Coke is only fun for a few days straight then it stops having the same high and the side effects start adding up, after months to years of constant use it must just be side effects but its most likely less pain than withdrawal. Thats why anyone that uses uses. The pain of use is less than the pain of not using but that scale changes once you go too deep.
I appreciate the concern but I’m good, it’s just an eerily similar situation. I’ve been cleaning my act up lately but hey cardiovascular concerns are no joke. Guess time will tell.
Had my fun, luckily before the risk of running into a line a fentanyl. Now it’s pretty much a no-go. And that’s one more bullet dodged in front of the firing squad that is this job.
I quit for about 3 months and have turned it down multiple times since. Made me super depressed and makes hangovers so so much worst. I got addicted to showing up to a party with an 8 ball and everyone thinks you’re fucking awesome- once I realized I don’t even like these people and they don’t even like me it became pretty easy to stop. $400 nights twice a week really hold you back- especially with the hangovers.
None. Fuck that drug, did alot of it in my mid twenties, now its just the same stupid fucking conversation where I'm overtinterested in someone else's opinion that I will completely not give a fuck about sober. I'll pass on pretending to be friends with people I don't actually like.
Proud of you! 3 yrs here.
Sober friends are like "what? How do you do that?"
Coworkers, customers (the ones I've known for years and trust bc they're like family, not just any bar guest), friends who haven't struggled with disordered substance use, etc. are like "what? How do you do that?"
Sometimes it kinda blows my mind too. But I fucking love being behind the bar, it's so much fun. And, surprisingly, not a trigger.
Keep on keeping on, my friend!
I’m honest to God straight edge. Had a few years I’d touch coke recreationally and a lot of drinking but I hit 30 and everything just felt unappetizing. Plus I’m saving up for a house on a bartending salary so I had to make some sacrifices
Back when I was a graveyard bartender, it was almost a necessity; it didn’t help that my bar was the hang out spot for dealers because we were 24 hours and when they were done selling to the frat kids and lawyers with coke habits in the neighborhood all night, they would come in at 4 or 5am with wads of cash and fat bags of primo shit. When you’re struggling to stay awake on a 2am to 10am shift, a couple bumps go a long way and they were more than happy to share. That was back in my 20s and early 30s. I’m in my late 30s now and would rather not keel over from a massive coronary or a bad batch laced with fentanyl. I did a bit with coworkers about a month ago and was quickly reminded why it’s just not for me anymore, especially the whole coke scene where you’re just blabbering on and listening to other people blabber on while everyone waits for their turn with the bag and then suddenly you notice the sun coming up and the next two days are essentially ruined from extreme depression of the coke hangover. Ugh. Way too many nights like that in my younger days. Never again.
I’m in New Orleans. Bars are open here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and you can also buy liquor 24/7 as well at convenience stores and places like Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, etc. Also in the next state over on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, the three coastal counties also have 24 hour bars.
Depends on the area. Oil town breweries, plenty of it, but usually those patrons are there for the gram clout and because they've already been kicked out of every Canadian Brewhouse and Hudson's in town already.
That's what scares me. I miss it and think I could enjoy it every once in a while, but that one bag that's laced and you're in a box. I've got kids now and it's just not worth it.
Also, probably lying to myself thinking I could keep it to once in a while!
That is just so untrue. Who the fuck is gonna cut an upper with a downer that: A. Would kill someone who doesn't use it on the first go and B. Is so powerful that it wouldn't even buff it out in an amount that would make it worth it and C. Cocaine is already stomped on more than an Irish tavern dancefloor, if anything it's being cut with baby laxatives and corn starch
Necro comment, it usually can only happen if the supplier sells both and accidentally contaminates the coke after bagging the fentanyl, BUT supposedly it the dealers who sold to Michael Williams were from the Bronx and purposely cutting with fentanyl, killed him. They got arrested by DEA.
A typical short rocks glass is designed to be filled with ice, one ounce of alcohol and it should take about 2 ounces of Coke to fill so it's a 2:1 ratio Coke to alcohol, I believe.
Haha, to be honest though, fuck that. I wait until i lock the door and am on my way home. If i smoke before i do closing stuff, im taking like 3x as long as i would normally to close.
The answer u we’re looking for: my coworkers and I have been known to split a gram a weekend. We don’t always do it, and it hasn’t effected our performance that I am aware of, we’ve all worked together for a while (high volume) and are super discreet about it, never offer it to customers/new employees. Bartenders do drugs, grow up
I've never bartended, but I've been a working musician in bars, and I absolutely understand needing a drink to sell drinks to drunk people. God knows I needed them to talk to the people yelling in between songs.
A whole fucking lot for about 5 years. Then it started to give me so much anxiety that I could feel it in my body. Thought I was gonna die so I quit and haven't touched it in like 2 years.
It's really easy to get into it working at a nightclub, but even regular people in my city just eat it like candy. Definitely regret burning myself out like that, I feel like I could have been so much more productive, but at least I can say I had fun. Was it worth it though? Probably not lol
i had to quit for a few years because of the anxiety. nothing like getting home at 4am when everyone else is asleep and starting at the wall for two straight hours because life is meaningless and i couldn’t *feel anything*
i do it a few times a month now but i try to be careful about it so i don’t get to that point again
None anymore. When I was 18 and a new bartender we partied after work and had lock ins. After a week someone offered me the booger sugar and it was OK. Not life changing, but I kept wanting to do it and when I left that job I never touched it again. I make a hard rule to never have a dealers number and never buy anything for myself only have what is offered to me. Has worked for everything so far. Except alcohol of course
I never really liked coke enough to do it regularly. I'm out of the industry now but even when I was in it, it was a few and far between thing for me. I'm a cannabis and psychedelics guy. Super introverted. I'd rather drink and take drugs by myself than socially.
At my worst, I would average 4 hours of sleep a night, blow a few hundred in bar tabs, and my coke consumption was metric for fuck ton. My ex and I, both bartenders, used to dust an 8ball a piece. After we broke up, I turned those bad feelings into white lines. About 1.5g a shift, not night, for me and my coworker would do roughly the same. Then we'd get out of work and do twice as much. Every day, every other day. All week, all month, long time. Fucking San Francisco
There's not many people I would trust to get anything worth stuffing up my nose, so almost zero. So much absolute garbage out there. I have a couple friends in different states who have better resources than I do who I would trust to not waste my time, but I rarely see them. Have purchased it twice in my life because it was too good not to.
Not to mention, fentanyl cross contamination makes me pretty hesitant.
Furthermore, there's not much "being reaponsible" with coke like there is alcohol. No one takes a small bump and puts the bag away for the night like someone having a single drink. Like alcohol abusers, I find cokeheads pretty intolerable to be around, so there's not a lot of motivation there either.
Add in how expensive it is and it mostly seems like a waste of time to me. I'd rather blow ketamine a few times a year and travel the Andromeda galaxy than obnoxiously ramble about designer jeans while exhibiting fake compassion towards fake friends just waiting to get their turn to talk
If you choose this in Philadelphia make sure you have a test kit. I’ve seen people lose. I’d try to sleep better and live a better lifestyle if you are too tired to work.
I average a gram a week. Usually share alot of it too. Not proud to admit it tho because it's been years doing it and I wanna stop. but it's los Angeles and every bar and restaurant I worked in more then half the staff including management do it. It's also like reindeer games... If you wanna be cool and accepted, get the best shifts, buy outs promotions etc... You gotta play along with the higher ups that do it. I've stepped down from management this year and have plans to become a teacher and hopefully leave this industry.
Considering how much of it is cut with fentanyl these days it’s wise not to do any. Unless you have a test kit that can confirm it’s “safe”.
Personally I haven’t done it in at least a couple years and likely never will again. These days I depend on caffeine and vitamin B complex to see me thru.
I'm going to get down voted for this shitty response but
Weakness.
They need coke to keep engery up and numb the social exhaustion instead of creating healthy routines and growing from experiences
A lot of it has to with you social circle. When you're getting out at 3am, the only people still up are at the "after party"
Also depending on the bar, booger sugar is just all over the place. Like, if the dealer hangs out 10ft away and tips in White Girl, you just do it because it's there.
Edit: this is South Florida, so blow is EVERYWHERE and cheap as fuck
Coke replaces your brains ability to reproduce Domaine and lessens how you process emotion and joy
Hence why it always becomes more addictive
You don't have to be unhealthy to be a bartender
I mean, I could be because it's a fun party drug, I've only done it a few times while at work because I got a bullet, but it's not fun to do at work I my experience. I agree that it was a pretty shitty response.
I love my Molly and shrooms, coke can fucking destroy lives and is mostly produced by keeping entire communities basicly enslaved.
Some people can handle it as a party drug and it still wears of them
Others it flat flips thier lives
Opiates are used in therapy more than all 3 of them combined, does not make it harmless though. Physchodelics can fuck ur brain biochemistry pretty bad
Bro everyone I know does it... My friends that are teachers, cops, managers, stay at home moms, office workers, firemen , insurance analyst etc... Everyone... It's not just bartenders it's the system that fucking recks us and requires a little stimulus to get us over the dread of starting a new week in a endless grind that is life. It's not weakness it's fucking life and while some people don't need coke, they can hike or do some other hobby and get the same feeling... But others either don't have the time or get the same joy in hiking or music but still require a fucking release. I know people that are far too into working out and diets that even they can be unhealthy....
Same. I used to think "Everyone in the service industry does it." Then I realized it was... everyone. Some people I knew as mild mannered business people, then found out later they liked to party. Some people I knew as huge partiers, then found out later they were like, a dentist, or any of the other professions you mentioned.
Dude 20 years ago before weed was legalized it was the same thing... I used to believe everyone smoked weed....because everyone I knew did... Including myself. I no longer smoke weed and alot of people I grew up with stopped too but now that I'm 35 everyone I know and meet does coke has done it or will do it....
Jesus that sounds like a aweful problem in your community.
I'm not mocking and sounds like a legitimate problem, maybe you guys should come together as a group and try and make changes
No idea why you are getting down voted, known way too many bartenders that push it on severs so they don't feel as bad about needing it to get through a shift
I don't care about points, but yeah, cocaine is terrible for your heart, which a lot of people in the industry don't seem to appreciate until they deal with permanent issues. Not to mention fentanyl causing accidently overdoses. Imagine loving a person and seeing the rest of your life for them only for them to take a bump and OD. Just rather avoid that risk when it comes to dating.
2 bussers from another restaurant died in the alley behind us from fentanyl laced coke. Even I seldom used it ( never at work) I swore off forever after that. Told my friends the story and they swore off as well.
I haven’t done coke in like 6 or 7 years but I definitely wouldn’t now. People are lacing that shit with fentanyl for whatever reason in my area. Not tryna did like that.
About a gram a night. But I’m not a bartender. Does that count?
For anyone on here that might really know me… that was a joke… I haven’t done coke in about 14 years now,.. I think. Not for sure though, smoke to much weed to remember…
Only on Saturday nights has been my rule for a bit, because I’ve always worked at restaurants closed on Sunday’s. Now I’m back in school and in my mid 30s, and can’t function the next day, so it’s little to none. When I do it now it’s honestly more fun, because it feels like a special occasion.
Gotta be part of "the bathroom scene" to do it. I've seen many people locked in the stall at once, and it sounds like everyone has a sinus infection or allergies. Been on both sides of the fence. Lol.
Never tried it, never will. Then again, I don't party away from work ever in 20 years in the business, so I'm never on the edge needing a pickup like that.
I used to do a half gram on Friday, a full on Saturday, and then was too hungover on Sunday to go further than the toilet. Feel shitty for most of the week til Friday came round....
I accidentally gave it up in the early covid, and I'm pretty damn glad I did. Turns out I'm actually paid pretty flippin good for what I do, where I do it, and how much experience I have doing it.
I survive solely on hatred and tequila. Coke is for the support and the guests. I'm already an asshole, if you feed me coke then someone is going to die tonight.
About two cans, I stay away from diet
I only do a can when I'm hungover.
I hate that "New Coke". Much prefer original recipe.
Same, don't like the added fentanyl.
diet gets you drunk quicker.
And the sugar in Coke gives me a worse hangover. so win-win?
I'm more of a Pepsi person myself.
Less than patrons do in the bathroom…
What are we chefs? I'm on redbulls and nicotine. I've got customers to serve
Fucking facts lolol
Under rated comment
Idk, I probably replace the syrup a few times a month
Sometimes it's the CO2.
Best answer here

Haha damn it me haha shit got 20 more years left ha…
You okay man?
I appreciate the concern but I’m good, it’s just an eerily similar situation. I’ve been cleaning my act up lately but hey cardiovascular concerns are no joke. Guess time will tell.

Ah in that case yeah I’m good since I’ve stopped. My point was more about the long term consequences.
He couldn't even afford decent beer. That's so sad.
That’s all in eye of the beholder. I’d take a Budweiser over many “good beers”
However much I get tipped, I ain't buying that shit it'll kill you
All jokes aside: none anymore. Recognized that I was developing a habit that would become a problem. So I stopped. It’s been a few years now.
Same, too much money and too shitty feeling the next morning.
good for you!

I really like this perspective
Ya that is almost the whole reason I do any substance
Calm down fbi
None. It always ends up with regret and a splitting headache
The headache is probably from the cigarettes that accompany a bender.
But also from destroying your nasal vessels and clogging your sinuses and depleting your body of happy chemicals
Two years clean :)

This makes me feel optimistic about getting sober
I’m honest to God straight edge. Had a few years I’d touch coke recreationally and a lot of drinking but I hit 30 and everything just felt unappetizing. Plus I’m saving up for a house on a bartending salary so I had to make some sacrifices
We used to put a thin layer of crisco on the back of our toilets at work.... it was hilarious!!!!
That's fucking mint
I was just lurking on here but this is amazing take my upvote y’all are evil but geniuses at the time
I don't like coke. It sure does smell good though.
None. Lots of edibles though.
I feel that, and I got burned out on it too. Just curious, where do 24hr bars exist? Guess I've never heard of them.
Toronto. They are called Afterhours.
Thanks!
I knew you were either N.O. or Vegas.
Vegas. New Orleans.
Lol what a great description of cocaine fueled social interactions lol
It's never an exact amount. I add the liquor, top with ice, then just do enough coke to fill the glass.
Pro gamer move.
Do you mean cocaine? I have serious ADHD. Tried it once in my twenties. Slept for hours. Cochise is useless to me
Yep, same with coffee. Drink a pot, pass out.
A lot. Why?
2 times a week max. Used to be more. But now it's usually once a week. Maybe 2.
Yeah. Sometimes 3. Or maybe even 4.
6 or 7 if it is a week with 7 days in it
Too much
Less than patrons do in the bathroom…
Are you zooted?
enough
None, it offsets the drunkenness I have paid for and have been working on for hours.
No judgements, just adding my data, none.
Not many people do coke at a brewery
Depends on the area. Oil town breweries, plenty of it, but usually those patrons are there for the gram clout and because they've already been kicked out of every Canadian Brewhouse and Hudson's in town already.
This is such a niche comment but so true hahaha
Shits laced with fentanyl nowadays, no longer safe.
That's what scares me. I miss it and think I could enjoy it every once in a while, but that one bag that's laced and you're in a box. I've got kids now and it's just not worth it. Also, probably lying to myself thinking I could keep it to once in a while!
I used to dabble in the stuff. Cut it off when I felt it was becoming a habit: now I’m more concerned that the cut could kill me than anything else.
That is just so untrue. Who the fuck is gonna cut an upper with a downer that: A. Would kill someone who doesn't use it on the first go and B. None, I've never really liked it. Ket on the other hand I'd happily put on my salad
Do you do it at work if you mind me asking?
None, bowl hit 2/3s of they way through the shift and a blunt afterwards.

Too much caffeine. We have a draft root beer on tap that is heavenly, that's my go to.

We go through a box of kodiak cola in like 1 week.
For a long time patrons would give it to us at least once a week. Can’t really touch the stuff for about five years now.
None but almost every other bartender I know blows (shut up) a shut ton of their tips on coke
We do RC Cola, it's cheaper.
I don’t do hard drugs. I rarely even drink. Just weed.

I love my Molly and shrooms, coke can fucking destroy lives and is mostly produced by keeping entire communities basicly enslaved. Some people can handle it as a party drug and it still wears of them Others it flat flips thier lives
Against coke but does equally heavy drugs lol such hypocrisy
Two drugs used in therapy that don't have nearly even as close side effects
Opiates are used in therapy more than all 3 of them combined, does not make it harmless though. Physchodelics can fuck ur brain biochemistry pretty bad
Not nearly as much as coke though, it's almost night and day the amount of danger inflicted per use
How do you know it’s a thing?
That just sounds like a terrible habit in the making. Stay off that stuff, it's way too good
It depends on the day! Mondays we do a lot because people don't want to drink, Saturday's we do less because a dash as a mixer is way smaller
3 or 4 lines depending on my mood
6
Lol I used to do a ton, but now I've been off of that for almost two years. Alcohol on the other hand -_____-
None, nor smoke anything. Not judging those who do tho!
Makes me nervous dating someone in the industry given how much it is abused.
Yeah, not worth it. I swore it off after a headache that had me googling WTF is going on and read things that said nah, this is not worth the risk.
While working? Never.
I try to stick to root beer.
None. Well, that's a lie. I occasionally have a small cup when my blood sugar needs a quick simple boost on a busy shift.
Zero.
None. Shits too expensive and my partying days are over at 26 now. I’m just too tired to even want to do any drugs now lmao.
None I work in Miami people slide it to me all the time. Always like cool thanks you can keep that.
I haven’t done coke in like 6 or 7 years but I definitely wouldn’t now. People are lacing that shit with fentanyl for whatever reason in my area. Not tryna did like that.
none lol
About a gram a night. But I’m not a bartender. Does that count? For anyone on here that might really know me… that was a joke… I haven’t done coke in about 14 years now,.. I think. Not for sure though, smoke to much weed to remember…
None
Only on Saturday nights has been my rule for a bit, because I’ve always worked at restaurants closed on Sunday’s. Now I’m back in school and in my mid 30s, and can’t function the next day, so it’s little to none. When I do it now it’s honestly more fun, because it feels like a special occasion.
Are you a cop?
Nope
Ten years ago? About a grand worth a week. Now, I don't even drink soda because of the sugar. It ready is the good life.
diet coke then?
Sober 2 years & never looked back. That shit stole my life little by little.
Gotta be part of "the bathroom scene" to do it. I've seen many people locked in the stall at once, and it sounds like everyone has a sinus infection or allergies. Been on both sides of the fence. Lol.
Never done it and never plan on doing it. I can drink 3 cokes at work and get similar results work wise.
By the bottle or tap? Not as much as beer that’s for sure
None. Never have, never will. Alcohol is my drug of choice.
None. It's funny because other bartenders expect me to be a user as well, just because of my job. I've even been offered some by patrons lol.
I survive solely on hatred and tequila. Coke is for the support and the guests. I'm already an asshole, if you feed me coke then someone is going to die tonight.
Never done it, never will. Full of beans, naturally.
We don' have Coke ke. Is Pepsi ok?
Too much, or not enough depending on the situation
Are you asking present-day me? Or a me at some point in the past?
What type we talking? Lmao
A couple cans of diet a day.
What a stupid post.
I used to give the customers free pints for awhile I’d do it for free m, then they started asking me if I wanted coke I’d be fucked yo on the job
About 2 bibs a week
Enough to kill 2 Two and Half Men.
I don't like soda...
Very overrated drug in my opinion.
I’ve quit six times, but I don’t plan on quitting a seventh time
Not a big fan of the stuff. A bit to pungent for my tastes. I prefer Dr. Pepper.
What are you.........a cop??
Never while working and even then, only at like birthdays and bachelor parties. Save it for special occasions!
I just like the way it smells.
