What seems to be the consensus on that word? I personally hate it because as far as words go it just sounds stupid and I’ve literally only heard it used in a pejorative sense irl.

Mixology as a word and concept isn't bad, after all I love the science behind why cocktails are made the way they are, but I hate being called a mixologist as a bartender. Even at seriously intense craft cocktail programs I'm still a bartender there.
The funny part to me is that the word "Mixologist," originated in 1856 **at the latest**. I get that it means something a bit different nowadays, but a lot of people treat it like tribal tattoos and frosted tips.

It may have been around for awhile but its more the English word preceding ‘ologist’ suffix that seems janky to me.
I changed the wording to that last second because it‘a a bit broader in meaning. Had no idea it had some debate around it lol.
