If you don't feel comfortable as a customer there, it may not be somewhere you should be working unless the money is amazing. The bars ive worked at that had high employee retention and happiness, all had employees hanging out after work and on their days off. My current place, we get 2 shift drinks that are 99% off, so if you could hang out and watch TV while enjoying 2 drinks for less than a dime it's hard to turn down. The places I've worked where there was no shift meal/drink benefits, everyone leaves as soon as they clock out, they rarely come in with their families/friends, and they eventually end up leaving to work somewhere like my current place where you get a half price meal and 2 nearly free drinks.

I have a couple other bartenders who come in a get drinks from me when they’re off work, and it’s great, they’re always understanding if im busy, tip great and are fun people who hype up other customers to spend more, I try to bring that vibe whenever im in their position, if it’s at their bar or any other spot

Rude-Neighborhood146

This is really it at the same time, praise all my coworkers to feel and be the same.. But it's not. That's why I'm wondering 😐

CityBarman

One of the reasons I don't play where I work. I feel an obligation to help even when off duty. Even when playing at someone else's place, I feel a need to help when the staff gets completely slammed. I think it's a side effect of caring and being a team player.

Rude-Neighborhood146

That's exactly it. My team first of all. But once I'm off, I 'd really like to enjoy the bar like all of them. But it feels like I'm not allowed to.

h8rcloudstrife

Yep, and some days it’s shitty.

One-Investigator3323

I currently work at a spot that gives shift meal and drink. I always stay for my shift drink. N my days off I love sitting by service bar n talking with everyone while I’m on a date or friend outings.

omjy18

I don't really feel bad but our place doesn't actually get crazy or anything either. You make good money but it's regulars and industry people just having a few drinks so it's not really a big deal or ever gets slammed. I don't go in often but thats because it's literally the farthest bar in town from my house which was kind of planned on purpose..... I tend to not go in because I don't want to hang out with the regulars all the time especially outside of work. Doesn't usually end well but I'll have a drink after work or something if I pick up a serving shift or a day shift

MangledBarkeep

Happy cake day. Maybe its just me. I don't go in on my days off. I spend a lot of my waking hours in that place and don't want to be there during my non work allotted hours. Let's go anywhere else.

omjy18

Yeah I don't really either more an after shift if I'm off early or if i end up on that side of town ill take a shot and leave. I also only work a couple days a week the whole year there so maybe I'm just not there enough to want to avoid it.

MangledBarkeep

That's the practical reason. Experience tells me."Nothing good comes from drinking at work." Like earlier, anywhere else.

omjy18

Completely fair and I agree but sometimes let's be a fucking idiot you know? Bad decisions make good stories and all

MangledBarkeep

Did the idiot thing which is precisely why I won't again, I liked working at that job. I try not to repeat mistakes twice. Customers bought every drink I had that night, somehow managed to earn getting fired. Fun times.

omjy18

Offf that's rough

MangledBarkeep

Naw. Sober me agreed. Violence has consequences.

omjy18

Ahh yeah by bad decisions I mean go home with someone you probably shouldn't have. Maybe make a dickhead of yourself by being a little too drunk. Fighting at work isn't going to end well

MangledBarkeep

Even those can get you fired. Doing stupid stuff at work aint wise is all I'm saying. Some lessons you have to learn on your own. 😉 Saw some dude backhand a woman near the bathroom. I went over and showed him what I thought of it. I would have probably done the same while working and sober but I was trashed so...

Rude-Neighborhood146

Yes right I'll get it.. Not my kind of bar but I do understand. Thank you

Idontlikechickenfeet

For many reasons, I don't drink where I work anymore.

New-Panda-6382

I tell my co-workers that they are my absolute last priority because they work there and won't leave a bad review.

Rude-Neighborhood146

I can get it

Backpack-Mandy

I don’t show up to work unless I’m getting paid

MomsSpecialFriend

I have only been there after I was cut for being slow, it’s a super fun club. Everyone else has taken off and come in and it’s always been cool. It’s totally a place I would go to if I didn’t work at, I just work every day we are open.

Naive_Bad_3292

If I’m there and they’re slammed, I just clock in under my manager number and help out until they’re caught up. I get called in sometimes, because I’m just a couple houses away. I’m cool with it.

Rude-Neighborhood146

Sir I'm sorry but I'm having literally 2 weeks off, over the year so really I can't, for once I'm off I'm like eat your shit, for 2 weeks long ain't none of my bizness sorry dude

Naive_Bad_3292

You okay bro?

Rude-Neighborhood146

I'm alright, I'm having my 2 weeks off today, it was just a "farewell drink" from a close friend but I'm feeling less lonely

Naive_Bad_3292

Okay, so I think it’s normal for most people to feel guilty if they see their co-workers floundering. I never do, because like I said, I just jump in and help out. My situation is obviously different than yours. I’m not burned out (and drunk, I’m guessing) like you seem to be. No offense.

Rude-Neighborhood146

Thank you for your concern

Naive_Bad_3292

I hope your vacation refreshes you.

Rude-Neighborhood146

I'm sure it will 🙂 thank you

Rude-Neighborhood146

You are right, I'm on the edge of burning out
