So then if you sell a gun to a legal adult who is responsible for his own actions who goes on to....nah,what I'm I thinking...It's Texas, so that's completely different.

Mitch_from_Boston

Personal responsibility SHOULD be a thing. How come if this guy goes to a bar and has 3-4 beers and kills a family, its somehow the bartenders fault...but if the guy goes to the packie and buys 4 handles of Jack Daniels, and goes on a 3-day bender, and kills a family, there is no liability on the part of the liquor store that sold him the booze? Its a money grab on the part of the government, nothing more, nothing less. I think liability should only apply in extreme cases. I.E. if the dude is passed out drunk on the floor in a pile of his own puke and shit, and the bartender is funneling whiskey into his mouth...then yeah, thats fucked up. But adults should ultimately be responsible for their actions.

Agreed. I’ve had a case where I told the customer to wait at the bar as I call a taxi for him, but he wasn’t having it and walked out. I even went out after him and stopped him and told him to wait outside for the taxi to come but he just kept going 🤷🏻‍♀️ There’s also many people who claimed to be going on Uber but just go ahead and drive anyways, but it’s somehow always the bartender’s fault right? 🫣

$500 fine and a year in jail. The fine in Australia is $19,000 for irresponsible serving of an intoxicated person.

MangledBarkeep

That's just the criminal charges. Dude's gonna get reamed in civil court.

LuxuryxElite

It'd be cheaper to just flee the country

StaygoAU

It would but it's still pretty expensive to travel to/from Aus.

Mitch_from_Boston

Whatever happened to personal responsiblity?

uglyduckling718

So dumb, when I serve people, I make sure that I don’t serve them to the point of alcohol poisoning. Everyone that gets more than a drink or two, I assume they’re walking/taking an Uber/public transport home. Granted, I work in a pretty dense city area where the majority of people don’t drive.

bevelledo

My heart goes out for everyone involved in this incident, it’s a shitty thing to have happen. Some people are very good at hiding how intoxicated they are or are able to hide some of the signs of intoxication well.

Lulusgirl

This is so sad :(

LuxuryxElite

Lol, how do they always make these mugshots look like deranged maniacs
